I had this surgery done 9 weeks ago, it is still very sore to walk when as I’ve now come out of the walking boot, how long before the pain eases when you walk, I feel like my Achilles hurts when stretched at the moment? Would appreciate a response
Hi, I don’t remember it hurting lot but I do remember it was very stiff, I was in my walking boot for 4 months and I was slowing transfer out of it I think I did 4 hours at a time out of a boot, I did physical therapy and we slowly did exercises that strengthen my tendons, and I also was on restriction for work I was only allowed 4-6 hours at time, hope this help
I never had the splint itch, but I would guess you could maybe itch it I would probably ask the doctor if she could itch it, one important thing is not to get the splint wet and use a garbage bag and duct tape to make sure it's waterproof
What issues did you have that made you get surgery? I have toe walked all my life. what my issue is my foot turns sideways at my little toe after short distance. It doesn't feel stable. I have no pain my foot just turns. Did you have a CT scan or MRI and how long did those tests take.
I was born with short Achilles tendon. I work so when I would work much my leg would hurt. The doctor didn't do MRI or CT scan I just got an x-ray on my leg. The surgery was the best decision I made cus now my legs dont hurt and I can work as much I want without my leg hurting
@Brad Y I can’t add pictures, but I had a splint on for about 2 weeks then was in walking boot on for a couple of months but there was no weight-bearing for two weeks, they will put me under for surgery and it should only take 15 mins, I think healing was probably 3-4 months or sooner depend on how fast people heal, I had two different experience one I was very emotional after surgery and the other time I was happy after surgery, I need help taking a shower or bath for a week or more and some time needed help getting up after going to the bathroom, it’s good to have a very good friend or family member to talk with or text with cuz it will get boring, I hope this answer your question, After I had the surgery done my tendons are healed well and I am in no pain and it has been 2-3 years since I had the surgery
@Brad Y I never had a cast I just had a splint for two weeks, In my experience the pain was good after surgery, only time it would really hurt is if i didn’t have my leg propped up on pillows, I took ibuprofen or Tylenol for the pain when it got painful, for me the pain didn’t last to long for me but I have a higher pain tolerance so I can tolerate pain lot more than most people
