This is the main reason why government lands will continue to be encroached . If it is compensation , pay them and keep the only green belt in Accra . If I was the government , all the land apart from government infrastructure there will be confiscated to the state . Once there are private properties in that vicinity people will still encroach on what is currently left. The achimota school lands , some parts have been encroached be past members of board of that school and judges . This are the people as a government you have to use as example,so that all others will fall in line . Go to the advanced western countries and see wether this can be done, even when parks are booked for event , ones the number of people exceed a specific number the police are called in and the event ended . I have encountered it ones , how much more solid structure. The vegetation on Aburi ridge is currently been graded down for real estate, no ecological planning factored , sorry for Ghana. Let give ourselves 10 years and go and do ownership survey of properties on the released land . It will belong to the political class and their cronies, currently all government land in Accra are almost finished,hence the scavengers , vultures, rats , hyenas have turned their eyes on this forest. Ideally accra should have 3 forest reserves (east, west , north). Since the colonial administration ,have you heard of government purchasing any land anywhere for forest reservation,? NO. What is wrong with our leaders.. Even the lands we have hasn't been exhausted why enter the forest. Instead of governments insist on building upwards we keep taking lands and building some quack houses wasting our whole exology. Aww Ghana. please build a wall around the forest examples is Google and see Hampton park and other parks in world fence them .the family is not the only people their property taken government should be careful. even is high time government buy lands or acquire land on area to maintain beauty and preserve Ghana especially lands on mountain slopes like Akawpim, coastal forests, wet lands
Ghanaians should jealously protect this forest for the public to enjoy. Nairobi, Kenya has three gazetted forests, Karura, Ngong and Ololua. These forests are under government protection and used by public for recreation
