Hey! A drum machine will generally make it easier to generate beats as a beginner (once you've learned how the drum machine works). However, if you want to create full tracks, you'll still need the ability to mix sound sources. You can use a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) computer program to do this. There are alternate ways to record things and mix them (even stuff like the 4 track cassette recorders of the past) but I think using a DAW in some capacity is the most common. I wouldn't want to discourage you from getting a drum machine though! There are many available if you run a search online (maybe on a music stores website). The original Roland TR-808 is probably not the best one to start with, mainly due to its price now (since they're not made anymore and highly sought after). Best of luck with your music!

I think here they're old loops I generated on my Volca Sample years ago. If memory serves I cranked up the levels on my interface to start distorting them. Then I just layered them with the Monologue's output here using Ableton afterwards. You could do something similar with Ableton's 909 + a saturation plug-in or something!

No software; it's a standalone synthesizer and sequencer.

Hahah, it's a useful feature that I only learned when I finally read the manual! 😄 For most of my synth sounds I think I prefer the envelope going lower rather than up.

@@ShallowedDJ thats sweet i like to un highlight and highlight all thru the 16 steps with w.e seq, or turn the e.g and pitch all the way up, when ure done making ur seq and sound, it gives a silent creepyness
