@@Katie-i2p Yes, biblically clean foods are listed in the Old Testament. Unfortunately, there have been pastors who misinterpret scripture in the new testament so most Christian’s believe all foods are clean, but they are not. God even tells us that pork is so unclean that we aren’t even supposed to touch it. It’s mind blowing how many foods have pork in them that you would never even guess would have pork. Certain cheeses, candy, anything with traditional gelatin, and even medications. It’s all meant to defile our bodies.

Hi Janice.... was wondering if you could do a video about how you divide up and assign the different chores around the house and homestead for the children both morning and night time? And talk about at what age you start assigning the more important/ difficult things. Also, how you address accountability with them? Then, i.e. if a child is sick for a few days who picks up their chores? Both you and Shawn seem to have done so well with all this. I'd just like to see how you approach it.

Here in Michigan are 80% ground beef is on sale for $3.79lb at Kroger..😕 Our regular price is $4.99lb… Kroger does have 3lb bags of Honeycrisp or Envoy apples for $2.99 limit of 5 bags this week..

My local Giant Eagle has 80% ground beef on sale for $1.99 a pound in a ten pound roll. I bought it during the summer for $1.79 a roll. I’ve seen comments on some channels that they prefer to purchase the store packages instead of the rolls because it’s fresher. To be honest I thought the ground beef in the rolls was really nice. What are your thoughts on this? Btw don’t worry about the mistake on the chips…it unfortunately happens. You still are an amazing shopper!

I understand how upsetting it is to make even a minor mistake. When you're trying to get the best deals, it's frustrating to make a mistake. Challenging yourself is the biggest high from it. If you mess up, it can make you feel defeated on that challenge. It isnt fun making a mistake. God bless.

Janice I have limited my shopping and to eat what we have. Mainly fresh soups. How many freezers do you have that are loaded with food? I remember, chicken, corn, cow, and does deer have one also. I honestly don't understand the not using what you have on hand. Lots of dollars going for sales is just shopping. It just doesn't make any sense to me to have freezers on and not use them daily. I don't know what all you have canned or in dry storage. Times are going to be harder and saving those dollars makes sense. I see myself shopping once a month and trying recipes to make it twice a month. I hope you all have great day.

Mae, I use the food that I buy on sale in a "first in, first out" rotation. So, there's always new food going into the freezers and pantries, but there's also always food being taken out from them as well. I buy when these items are on sale so I always have a stock of ingredients and I'm purchasing them at sale prices instead of regular prices. This is the system that has worked great for us for years! :)

Janice is also prepared for any time that the supermarket shelves are bare due to over consumerism because a storm is coming in. It takes a lot of food to feed 9 people when the supermarket shelves are bare! If the shevles were bare for 2 weeks she would go through a huge amount of her stock pile feeding 9 people, 3 meals a day! Plus when those times hit they generally jack up the prices on everything and Janice is sitting pretty with her pantry and freezers stocked up!! She praxtically has a grocery store on her property!

@@lisaharrigan1370 I agree with what you said, except that they jack up prices when a storm in coming in or when power is out. That is illegal here in MO and authorities regularly check to ensure that prices are not inflated during times of emergency status. They quickly prosecute those we inflate prices.

@@CheriGoodwin A lot of states have anti price gouging laws but lack the personnel to enforce them. I rarely see a news article in my state where a store is prosecited for this and I DO see the prices get jacked up. C-19 was a prime example, when demand outweighs supply the prices go up, it is just basic economics!

I have made pinwheels before. After they are rolled it is best to wrap in plastic and put back in the refrigerator before cutting. That way the rolles keep there shape and the flilling do not fall out when cutting.

picked up 10 lbs russets 1.88 in local food basics/ mac and cheese kd .55 at no frills bought for in casers /got a few 50% off salads i got lucky on them as the worker seen them about to expire i said i want the produce manager and he gave them 50% off lol/ me and my neighbor cant eat 5 lbs a month so we split the 10 lb bag of potatoes so yeah 94 cents for my potatoes hugsssss

The 80% ground beef = 1/5th fat and seems a lot of waste. I buy less than 5% fat and 400g was about 3 dollars, which produces no waste (but of course, im usually only buying for one)- this makes me 3-4 meals Thanks again for another good video, Janice xx (i could covet your bananas again😂)

I have a question. How do you or do you calculate time and mileage by going to multiple stores into your savings calculations? For example, Aldi is further out for me. It’s a 20 mile round trip, where Walmart is one mile away and Kroger is three miles away. Sam’s Club is a 66 mile round trip. I can also normally find promo codes for Walmart grocery pickup (it’s triple20 right now), and sometimes Kroger pickup. When I sit down with my list, I also calculate if the savings are negated by extra time and travel. Just wanted to see if you did anything similar.

They do make homemade salsa, just as they do many other items. But, as she said in this video, when she is preparing food to take to an off-homestead function, or if they have a large gathering at the homestead, she uses the pre-prepared food as some people are not particularly fond of the homemade items. I personally would choose the homemade items every single time, but it all depends on what you grew up with, usually.

Why do you buy the 73% ground beef when the 80% has less fat content .In the end of cooking the 73% will be more wastage due to fat .Ihave found here the leaner the beef the less wastage you end up with more meat content so if I can’t get a markdown I pay a bit extra for the leaner .🌺🐝🌼🇦🇺
