Hello to all of my Healthcare brothers and sister! The 2020 AHA Guidelines are out. I have posted the new videos for BLS, ACLS, and PALS: ru-vid.com/group/PLhOFBB3AV9swkQ1KUodrLKmxvEbI3R0-R. These changes will not take place until February 2021; however, these concepts are currently being taught in your courses. ☺️❤️
Nurse Cheung you are amazing! You really help us be 99.9 % less anxious when taking Acls q2 yrs… love your content and the way you delivery/ teach them to your fellow nurses. You really are a boss educator!! Blessing to you and your family
You are so kind Juan Cerda 😀💜 I am humbled by your feedback regarding my videos and teaching style. My goal is to make education fun and enjoyable and I am pleased that this is coming through 😀 Much love back at you!!
You are too kind Amy ☺️❤️ I am so glad my video was helpful and I appreciate the kind review. The 2020 updates for ACLS, PALS, and BLS have been released and I will be uploading those videos shortly for 2021 ☺️
Thank you so much for your kind words, Melanated Queen 114! 😊💜 I'm glad my video series on ACLS was helpful to you and that you were able to pass your certification test. I am humbled to have been of helpful and wish you all the best in your future endeavors. 😊
I'm graduating RT school in a few months and this video has really simplified ACLS! I was totally overwhelmed by the AHA book, but I feel way better about it now. Thank you!
Congratulations Mikey Sep on getting close to RT graduation ☺️💜 How exciting! The American Heart ACLS can be very overwhelming especially when you read the book the first time. I am glad to hear that my video was helpful in your studies. You got this!
Thank you for this refresher video. You spoke clearly, kept the information to the essentials which kept the video length an appropriate amount of time.
Good afternoon nurse Chung, you’re teaching me to be confident, and never give up on my passion to become a good nurse, therefore I’ll continue to watch your videos, thanks.
Your message warms my heart. It's truly inspiring to hear that the videos are not just informative but are also instilling confidence and reinforcing your passion for nursing. Remember, being a good nurse isn't just about the knowledge you acquire; it's also about the resilience, compassion, and dedication you bring to your practice every day. I'm honored to be part of your journey and to provide resources that help you grow and thrive in your nursing career. 🌟📚💙
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this concise and user friendly presentation. It is very helpful and recommended to all redoing ACLS. Thanks!
I am so humbled that you found my ACLS Certification video so helpful Snehal Desai ☺️❤️ It is very difficult to find information online that is easy to follow and user friendly. I am so happy to hear that my goal for making this video has been helping so many
How exciting Mau A. ACLS certification is a great certification to have working in any unit of the hospital. It helps prepare you for any code blue scenario that will require medications and interventions outside of BLS. I can't wait to hear how you passed both your Med Sure and ACLS certifications like a boss ☺️❤️
I found this video helpful. Nurse Cheung presented the information in a concise and easy to listen to format. She kept the flow of information interesting and "to the point". This video does not lag and kept my attention the entire 35 minutes. Well done ma'am! Thank you.
An excellent and informative session....please try to make many more knowledgeable and amazing videos like these. Would love to learn...esp. the implications ( those important instructions which one needs to keep in mind eg: fibrinolytic treatment is not given in case of haemorrhagic strokes). It would be great if you could cover more of pharmacology as well in the same manner. Thanks😊
Absolutely Chandrani Samant ☺️❤️ I am in the process of creating more informative videos. The ATI TEAS Question Review Series should be done soon and I have recently filmed an entire cardiac bootcamp that should contact many informative information including pharmacology. Once these series end, I will be focusing on different disease processes and pharmacology more in depth. ☺️ I can't wait!
You're very welcome, RS! I'm delighted to hear that you found the ACLS review helpful and that you appreciate the contributions. It's messages like yours that truly make all the effort worthwhile. My aim is to support and enhance the learning journey for healthcare professionals like you, providing resources that can make a real difference in both preparation and practice.
You got this Alex Smith 😊💜 How excited to get to perform mega codes in your second semester. I was fortunate enough to get it right before I graduated and started my nursing career so getting the chance to do it early is fantastic. 😊
All videos on RU-vid have this feature now, Di. 😊💜 You can go to the setting button under the video and select playback speed. You can either slow the video down or speed it up depending on what you prefer 😊
Congratulations Ms Lady ☺️❤️ Sorry for the late response. I've been a little busy with the holidays. However, I am sure you passed your ACLS like the boss you are. Never doubted you ☺️
Hi i love ur videos the only thing i did noticed on the 2020 acls updates was the dosage of dopamine. It changed to 5-10mcg/kg now. No longer the 2-10mcg/kg....😃
You are absolutely correct Bar bi3. There has been some 2020 changes that I was not aware of. I am working on refilming this video based on the new recommendations and guidelines. Luckily, they do not go officially into effect until February 2021. ☺️❤️
@@NurseCheung yess. Its what i was noticing as well because i came for recertification and they are still implementing the old. Till 2021 the new kicks in. Looking foward for the new video. I have the alarm bell on!🤓❤❤❤❤
The 2nd administration dose of Adenosine on the slide is incorrect for SVT. After the initial dose of 6mg followed by a NSS flush, you wait 1-2min before administering the 12mg dose, following the same rapid push. Adenosine is pushed rapidly, not over 1-2 minutes.
You are correct Mike D. I misspoke during the making of this video regarding the parameters for Adenosine. You will wait 1-2 minutes between doses but Adenosine is always pushed rapidly. ☺️💜
Tysm for pointing out in res potential test questions!! For the blocks ex-Type 1- could you circle in red the pr intervals to show at which point they get longer then at which point it drops. Could you also show on a zoll monitor how to set up transcutaneous pacing, setting up for synchronized vs synchronized . Tysm
Thank you for all the suggestions Sbbs Gee 💜☺️ I have written everything down and will be creating videos soon on these topics. I am planning to redo my ECG video to make it easier to read and will have my hands on a monitor to discuss the different ways to transcutaneous pace, defibrillate and cardiovert. ☺️
💜 Thank you for providing such kind feedback Lovely Latoya ☺️ I am truly humbled by your kind words. My goal was to make my videos helpful while cutting out as much fluff as possible ☺️💜
Great question. My website was lost a few months ago and I am slowly working my way through what was lost. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
I like how you simplified it, and made it easy to understand. Please continue making contents like this to help neo nurses as well as seasoned RNs. God Bless!
Hi Elizabeth Andrade. Unfortunately, I do not have a copy of the printable version of this presentation ☺️ I found that people were selling my powerpoint on Etsy a year ago and stopped providing the printable version.
Thank you for your videos! I am taking my ACLS tomorrow. Other ACLS what other certs do you recommend for New RN's to make us look better as we hunt for jobs during this pandemic? Its so challenging right now!
Congratulations on taking your first steps as a new RN Mich. The Advanced Life Support Certification is a major component of many intermediate care and intensive care units. Having this certification will set you apart from some of your competition. If you plan to work in the ER, I would recommend also obtaining your PALS certification as well. You may need to take PEARS prior to your PALS for the foundation. When you go to interview create a small binder or folder with your resume, certifications, and any awards or membership you were a part of during nursing school. Many hospitals are wanting to see candidates who were did their diligence with certifications prior to starting and were in involved in their nursing program. This will mean you want to be involved on the unit with Evidence Based Practice initiatives and Unit Nurse Practice Councils. During you interview, make sure you do research about the hospital system and unit if there is anything listed online and also make sure you always ask a question at the end of your interview. "What is the culture of the unit?" "What are your expectations for my position?" "How can I be involved on the unit?" Never ask about pay and benefits because the hiring manager usually don't have that information. I hope this was helpful in making you competitive in your job hunt. Keep me up to date with how your job hunting goes. I want to follow your journey ☺️
@@NurseCheung THANKYOU! I never learned what to do after I passed my boards in school and I have no connections so I am just lost. I passed my ACLS and your videos helped tons I just get confused with the heart blocks! Would IV therapy be a good cert too or should I wait till I am actually in the field? Thank you again Nurse Cheung you're very helpful!
I am so happy that I can help you transition to practice ☺️❤️ As for the IV therapy certification, this is typically used for those individuals who plan to become PICC/Midline placement nurses. It definitely wouldn't hurt to obtain but I feel you will still be competitive based off of following my previous post.☺️ Totally up to you.
Hi Nurse Cheung! I'm currently reviewing my ACLS protocols and I found your video very informative and effective. Thank you for this. However, I would just like to ask why we should put the patient on reverse Trendelenburg position if we are to administer adenosine? According to my research this helps lower central venous pressure, but I still don't understand the rationale to this. Can you help me out please? Thank you!
Great question Vee Manzano ☺️💜 Typically, if we can, we like to place the patient in reverse Trendelenburg to get the medicine to the heart faster. There is also research that positioning can help cardiovert patients faster. I hope that helps answer your question ☺️
@@NurseCheung Hi Nurse Cheung! Thank you so much for your reply. I'd also like you to know that this video helped me pass my nursing clinicals and that now I'm in my final semester as a nursing student. Thank you so much!
What situations will be tested for the ACLS exam? I thought it was similar to BLS where we would come across the pulseless mannequin. I guess not. Are there any videos that show ACLS physical exams I can watch to get a feel for this style of testing? Thanks, good presentation.
Great questions 1234 ☺️ The ACLS will test you on all algorithms including interventions. In BLS you will come across someone who has experienced a cardiac arrest, is choking, or in respiratory distress. There are very limited interventions you perform before advanced medical professionals arrive. In ACLS, the person may be stable and become unstable. You are the advanced medical professional who will be providing interventions such as medications, defibrillation, synchronized cardioversion, and other procedures. You will not necessarily see each scenario on the exam or during the megapode but you will need to know them all for the test. I am in the process of looking into creating a simulation experience for ACLS scenarios but it will most likely not be out by the time you test. I am glad my video was helpful for your studies ☺️💜
Great question Zingo Ringo ☺️💜 This video was based on the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines when it was recording in 2020. I currently have a 2021 ACLS Certification Video which discuss the new guidelines. You are correct that the new 2020 American Heart Associate Guidelines now recommends 1 mg of Atropine for Symptomatic Bradycardia. I highly recommend you watch the updated video as there are more changes that took place in 2020. ☺️
Question… at minute 22:45 of the video you said for V-tach we give epi???? It’s listed on the slide. Then you said we give amio right under it… why would we give epi if their HR is already high in Vtach or vfib?
Excellent question! In reference to the slide at 22:45, I'm discussing the management of Pulseless Ventricular Tachycardia and Ventricular Fibrillation. According to the 2020 AHA Guidelines, there are three medications employed during cardiac arrest situations: Epinephrine, amiodarone, and lidocaine. Epinephrine is primarily administered within the cardiac arrest algorithm due to its potent vasoconstrictive properties, which enhance cardiac output. This medication is given before it stimulates an increase in heart rate, improves myocardial contractility, and enhances conduction through the AV node. This ultimately leads to improved perfusion pressure to both the brain and heart.
Great question Winki Lee ☺️💜 Typically it would be the other way around regarding breathing and circulation. You may have a person who is not breathing but still maintains a pulse. If the pulse is absent, always start CPR immediately. You will have a finite amount of time to successfully rescue a person. ☺️ I hope that helps answer your questions.
Great question Tips Gallery ☺️ I always suggest take the ACLS once you are in your final semester or courses for the nursing program. The ACLS certificate renews every two years so you will be set once you start your nursing career without having to repeat the certificate quickly. Plus the knowledge you will gain will be insightful if you plan on working in critical care. ☺️💜 Hope that helps answer your question.
@@NurseCheung I remember that and “If some p’s don’t get through, then you have a mobitz 2” and “if p’s and q’s don’t agree, then you have a third degree”. 🙂
Unfortunately, I cannot answer that question Hicham Abboud 😊 I would reach out to the American Heart Association regarding the standards of practice and education for ACLS students.
thank you so much!! My acls renewal is up in January but I'm starting an icu internship in a few weeks and decided to renew with everyone else and auditory is the best way that I learn so this video was super helpful!!!
Congratulations on your ICU internship sassystump ☺️ Most of my experience stems from the Emergency Department and Open Heart Intensive Care Unit. The ICU was one of the best experiences I have had in all my nursing career. I am sure you will love it as well. I truly hope that my ACLS Like A Boss video will be helpful once you experience your first code in the ICU. You got this!
@@NurseCheung thank you so much, I watched your video at least 3 times and recommended it to others. We all passed today! I think this video and your other acls video were a big help!
TIME STAMP: 18:12. The 2nd dose of adenosine should be given 1-2 minutes AFTER the first dose. The 2nd dose should be given as rapid as the 1st dose! When injected into the body, adenosine is rapidly absorbed by red blood cells and blood vessel endothelial cells and metabolized for natural uses throughout the body. In light of this adenosine should be administered by RAPID intravenous bolus so that a significant bolus of adenosine reaches the heart before it is metabolized.
After my very first code in Acute Care and watching how amazing the rapid response team was and watching them jump into action, I have decided I want to obtain my ACLS. Your videos will help me get there. Thank you
Your story is so incredible As old by Muriel. It warms my heart to know that healthcare professionals can provide so much inspiration in everyday actions and help empower others to reach for the stars. I am so incredibly proud that you have made the decision to obtain your ACLS and I know you are going to do great things. Your #1 Supporter right here is cheering for you at the side lines.
What do you mean Liya Joseph? I’ve had several people reach out to me that they had to take it more than once. It’s all dependent on the instructor and company.
I am so happy to hear my video was helpful in your studies TOO TOO ☺️ Make sure you check out my new video that has the 2021 updates for the AHA certifications
Thank you for the kind feedback Mo JustUs ☺️💜 I agree with your statement on atropine. The only reason I list it is because it is listed in the ACLS manual for those conditions.
Hello, I love your videos, content, study guides, and more! I am starting the nursing program on Aug 23. Where can I find your content for level 1 please so I can start watching every day and become familiar with. Please help. By the way you helped me pass the Teas and get into the program! Thank you so much.
Congratulations on starting your Nursing Program soon Tara Brown ☺️💜 I am so incredibly proud of you. Which Level 1 content are you looking for? I have a lot of videos on my RU-vid that covers various topics you will see in your first semester. Let me know how I can help you progress forward into your nursing career.
@@NurseCheung I need help with Nursing concepts for unit 1 for safety and evidence with the author giddens third edition. My instructor informed us that it's the hardest chapter? Any tips on how to study and overcome this chapter other than reading and notes because I need a new strategy.
You are so incredibly kind Saray Buck ☺️💜 I am so pleased to hear that my videos have been helpful with your ACLS Certification. Now pass that exam like the boss you are!
Thank you for your easy understanding of this. I am going to recertification my ACLS. PALS. I just did my BLS recertification. You are fantastic. I would like working g with you.
Congratulations on re-certifying Curt Taylor. I just recently re-certified all the same certificates this past month and used my videos for review. I am so humbled to hear that they were helpful to you as well ☺️💜
Great catch Joyce Aroka ☺️ This video was recorded prior to the release of the 2020 AHA guidelines. I have a comment pinned to the top of this video that has the most up to date guidelines recorded.
Hello if im going for ekg tech will it be useful to take this training? I am also going to BLS training as well and I am interested in ACLS training for skills
That's a great question C. Mfoumou. I definitely believe that the Basic Life Support Training will be imperative to your role as a EKG Tech since it will teach how to recognize adverse events such as cardiac arrest and what procedures to follow based on the patient presentation. You will also get hands on experience with CPR for both adults, children, and infants. As for Advanced Cardiac Life Support, I always encourage that if anyone wants to further their education that you should reach for the stars. Just know that you won't be able to use many of the skills you will learn during the class as providing medication and advance life support measures requires someone with an advanced degree of education such as an RN or ARNP.
you forget to tell us to check for pulse after charge is complete. you and I know that, but the new people that are listening intently and taking notes, do exactly as told
You do not check the pulse after a shock is delivered. Once a shock is delivered, you immediately begin CPR for 2 minutes. After the 2 minutes, you can check for a pulse. Sorry if there was any confusion. These guidelines are based on the 2020 AHA Algorithm located on my website if you would like to review them ☺️
i love you teaching format. i watch it while doing chores like cooking. i pause to read the literature . put in some thought into it. then listen to you explain it. feels like inremember it better.
You are so kind and I am truly humbled kickboxer 81 💜☺️ I love that you are able to multitask while listening to my ACLS Like a Boss video. You are incredible! Keep up the amazing work you do 💜
Correct Steven Lahey ☺️ The new guidelines start Atropine dosing at 1mg not 0.5mg. I have a 2020 Updated Guidelines videos that I created early this year that goes into detail about the changes. ☺️❤️
