Yes the Toki engine and single needle metal carb all made in Japan. In reality a cheap clone of a traxxas carb would wake this engine up because then you could tune the low end as well. But I usually sell a restored car before I play with it a second time ! Not sure where the chassis is made. Maybe Taiwan or china or even Japan as well just like HPI
