Ann discovered some amazing pottery created by the Acoma Pueblo Tribe. Since 1150 A.D., Acoma Pueblo has earned the reputation as the oldest continuously inhabited community in North America. The mesa-top settlement is known worldwide for its unique art and rich culture. Ann challenged herself to try and create an Acoma type pot...check it out!!
Answers to questions we get all the time:
We typically bisque to Cone 04 and fire to Cone 5-6
Ann uses Standard English Porcelain no. 365 unless specified otherwise in the video
Here is a link to Ann's White Liner Glaze: imgur.com/a/w8...
If you would like to learn how Ann paints with underglazes - check out her Video Workshop Series. These workshops are very detailed (typically 1.5 - 2 hours in length) where Ann provides step by step instruction and are designed to help potters take their work to new levels of craftsmanship and artistry. vimeo.com/show...

hi Jenny. Im glad you liked it. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching too. It is a bit time consuming, but as the pattern is just triangles, it is like a coloring book with that so satisfying feeling at the end.

I admire your patience and determination, and you got a lovely result. I’m afraid giving it a swoosh or two with a fat brush is more my speed. Lol.

Ann, another cracking video, your work is amazing, I can only watch in awe as I don't have the patience, or a steady hand, let alone the painting skills that you show us so beautifully. The optical illusions are great, my eyes are blurring just thinking about it, so thankyou for sharing your ideas and painting skills. Beautiful 🎉😊

Ahh, Ann, I see you've discovered the alluring power of the Dark Side! Ancestral Puebloan pottery is a rabbit hole that can take years off your life. Or add years to it. It's an endless maze of styles, techniques, cultural references, and subtle meanings. Deeply frustrating and tremendously rewarding. For an introduction, a great starting point is Andy Ward's Ancient Pottery. ru-vid.com

Hi Dave. Hahaha. I see what you mean about the Puebloan pottery. I would love to try ore of them for sure. Jim and I have talked to Andy Ward before. He has commented on other of our videos. His channel has a lot of great resources.

Very interesting (& time consumimg)! My guess is the SW potters used yucca leaves to mark lines on pots. I've watched Mata Ortiz potters paint fine lines w/colored slips using a few strands of long hair. Heard Museum in Phx is great place to see SW pottery!

You have the patience of Job and the dedication of a saint, but the way the Pueblos did it was easier. They ate 5 peyote buttons and spent the night in a sweat lodge. Just teasing, and you do have a way of bringing your ideas into reality whereas the rest of us would be groping in the dark. 😊 Good job...again!

Hi Don. You are very sweet. I never thought about it taking a lot of patience. Really after drawing the lines, it was more like a coloring book just painting the triangles. Easy. We really do appreciate you watching!! Im glad you liked it 🙂

@annruel1982 2 месяца назад
Hey Laura. I have little hand held extruders, but I dont have a big extruder. I have thought about getting one to do some fun projects with, but I would also need a good place to mount it which may also be a bit of a problem in my space. i have thought about investing in one. Sorry about that.
