Ditto. I watch people analyze the TV and movie franchises that interest me but my ADHD vetoes the dozens or hundreds of hours 8 American-length seasons or all the MCU movies I skipped would take. And I watch people absolutely pan books which, if I was locked in solitary with only them, I will review every book I remember reading before I open the thing. It never flips. Film I would watch, books I wouldn’t, not the reverse

And is apparently the reason why even when I watch part of a show with someone, I can walk away and never think of it again or have any desire to know what happens next?? It makes so much sense now 😅😂 my ex used to get so annoyed that I “don’t like anything popular” because I didn’t like any popular shows, but I honestly just had no desire or patience to sit and watch 6 seasons of a guy making drugs in a desert, or watch a high school girl and her love triangle with vampire brothers 🙃

Especially since there was a higher chance of the mother dying and it doesn't take someone from modern times to know there's a baby in there and I bet I can cut it out to save it.

Straight up what one of my controlling exes used to do. She'd say something to let her disapproval and judgement be known but then add the "but it's your choice" then lay in thick she still didn't like it. If I did the disapproving thing, like just talking to a person she didn't like (we're both girls) then she'd need to know ALL the details and pass it off as nosy - to the point she'd harp and harp on it until I told her anyway. When I told her because obviously you wanna be honest with your partner, she ripped that person (my best friend she was trying to keep me away from - before we were besties, she was trying to distance me from having someone else to talk to) to shreds by making fun of every little thing they said, twisting their words and actions into a threat to the relationship 'they want you it's so obvious' 'lmao they just want in your pants'. It started with that subtler manipulation though so if ever confronted she could say 'I said it was your choice?' completely glossing over the fact I just escaped TWO emotionally abusive living arrangements and had no backbone yet. Abused people don't have those resistances yet. At least, I didn't. I was VERY MUCH stuck in the people pleasing behaviours to keep the peace that turned 'but it's your choice' into a THREAT in my mind. A threat for me to deal with her mood after and her shitty comments that made me feel like the horrible one for just wanting A FRIEND. This is the same woman who claimed to know my every thought and feeling on something so to say I hate the Rhys and Feyre mind bond is an understatement. She'd set herself up to be the saviour just like Rhys is in these books, and I fully agree it's manipulative. It's covert manipulation because it gives you an illusion of control when there is none.

The way that Sarah J Maas turns her earlier book love interests to straight dicks in the sequels is one of the main reasons why I can’t read these books. It’s screams not only lazy, but essentially talking down to the audience. If Rhys (or Rowan) is best for the character they shouldn’t need the handholding through making the other choice a straight villain.

SJM has a character named Azreal and they’re extremely similar in discription to Azreal, a recurring DC Comics Antihero created by the late Denny O’Neil, Joe Quesada and Peter Milligan. The character first appeared in Batman: Sword of Azreal in October of 1992. That’s got to be some kind of copyright violation.

I have watched so many of your videos, probably more than anyone else's videos on RU-vid, itself. (FYI: Braiding Sweetgrass moved me to TEARS. I've had to stop reading multiple times... because of all the weeping... and I never would have found that book if not for you, suggesting it. There have been many others. Your Haters can suck it.) But I'm leaving my first comment to say this: Watching you torture your husband with literature is PEAK wife-goals. It may even be kink. Not for me - because I'm not a weirdo like that - but I do wonder how much you could boost your revenue stream, if weirdos "like that" discovered this drunken-literature-torture-session. (Thank god no weirdos have found you, thus far. ) You are my very favorite (for reals, Lady). May Beyonce's Interwebs bless you, always.

Damn these videos are making me want to read fucking acotar AGAIN. This is also the book I think doesn't completely sucks. But I hate the human mate thing. Like, how the fuck the sisters are their mates if they're not fae born? It makes no sense that they're mates with someone from a different species if it's only a fae thing.

my favorite part of this book is when feyre throws the shoes at rhys bc that's what I want to do. My least favorite part is whenever they start flirting, it's the worst.

I was actually ok with this book (as ok as I can be with SJM) and then she had him say they’re mates and I was like “Alright, I’m done, I’m not reading this anymore” and that’s the last book by SJM I’ve read 😂 I don’t like mates but I don’t hate them enough to make me stop reading a series so I guess it was a last straw kind of situation.

this is my boyfriend's fate. He has to listen while I explain to him the stupidest book known to men. I think i'm the same type of drunk as you are, and he's about as deadpan as your husband so we'd have the absolute time of our lives. Well i would. Maybe i'll read caraval again just to tell him about it.
