That's true for the demo (I think he also recorded the acoustic parts for the Demo on his friend's laptop before going into the studio), but in that Vice video he says that he wrote the Sunbather album on his Les Paul and a little electric amp.
What a surprise! To a non-Deafheaven lover, the beginning could be mistaken for Foo Fighters. But, at 1:57, it's all Deafheaven ... beautiful. (I'm a Deafheaven lover)
The song was actually originally written on acoustic!! Which doubly proves this claim! It was written like this, then effects and drums and vocals were added, then these guys stripped it back to the roots. So cool!!
amazing to discover this. I recorded a version nearly identical to what you guys did here only with clean electric. I actually just looked at my old garageband file and it was only a month or two before you posted this. Never got more than 3 minutes into the song with my version though. Its amazing how the song lends itself to this slightly different rhythm. I love it in this form.
I think most Deafheaven songs were written on acoustic guitar with the chords being strummed similar to this, then translated over to electric guitar where they tremelo pick the chords while they are drenched in chorus, delay and distortion. At least this is what i gather from interviews
still their best song. this cover shows that even when translated into a much softer sound, their sunbather era stuff is leagues more interesting and beautiful than anything they've done since
@@duppy404 heyyyy what’s up!! I pretty much go by Evelyn / Evi at this point but am still keeping my channel name (it’s an inside joke with friends) Anyway how are you?
@@mavisevelyn618 Oh my bad, hi Evi! And I'm doing well. Was really glad to see you got an interview with that band foxtails, congratulations on that! It's a big step forward for your channel
@@duppy404 definitely was a huge pleasure to sit down with them. I’ve got another guest in mind and I’ve recently reached out to her via email, won’t spoil who it is but hoping for a response soon.
How is this hipster at all (aside from Deafheaven already being possibly the most hipster metal band of all time)? It's a well written, melodic instrumental and it translates well in this. just because it's acoustic doesn't mean it's some kind of indie folk-pop cover.
