Thx for the tip with the bar chord (barré)! You’re absolutely right, nobody will notice the difference!

Great playing, Kris. I see fire... nice! And the blues always sounds nice on an acoustic. Would there also be a part2, switching to electric from acoustic? Another cheat: while the singers seem to love sharp or flat chords (F#, Eb), the acoustic guitarists love the capo :).

All hail the capo! Haha! Thanks Adrian, also cool idea with the part 2. I noted it. :) Cheers //Kris

2:20 I was thinking I should use the same strings I use on my electric, which in my case is a 10 to 52 set. I think that's unusual for an electric, but totally fits with an acoustic. It's like 10, 13, 17, 25, 48, 52 I think. 5:17 I've tried about a dozen acoustic guitars so far. Most, you really can't bend, but I tried one Fender, the PRS Angelus, and Ovation, they fairly play like an electric in terms of doing all the tricks that we're used to doing. 6:45 This is a key point. So far, the best smaller body guitar I've tried is KALA, which specializes in ukulele. Their acoustic guitars feel nice in the cockpit, sound great, and play very well. 10:45 If you're playing with a band, especially if you have a bass player, you would just be stepping on someone's toes to play the root. With vocals, I usually find the sweet spot is to have a capo on the second or third fret.

I had to gget my guitar to the shop to lower the action (bridge and nut) it was really to hard to play ;) now it is as smooth as my electrics :)

1994: My local music shop started me on a $99 “Royale” branded dreadnought that I’m pretty sure was set-up for slide, not fingerstyle. I endured that giant awful thing for a year of lessons until my dad got me a Strat copy. Low action was a miracle. Now I have a PRS parlor guitar for acoustic (it’s got a decent amount of volume), I have never played another dreadnought.

Very timely as I am expecting an acoustic/electric next week! I never knew/realized about string gauges. Thanks Kris!

Great video, was just happy that i am doing most things already as mentioned in this vid. But also learned something new. And once you love your acoustic guitar try out an acoustic baritone. Got my HB few months back and i just love the sound and how it pushes me to try out new things and be creative. Thanks Kris

One tip is to use heavier strings but tune down a half step or a whole step, especially with long scale (25.5"). On a 14th fret neck, downtuning a whole step while playing with capo on 2nd fret changes the resonance slightly towards a 12th fretter, even if the bridge still is (fixed) "higher up" on the body than on a real 12th fretter. Then you also have drop-D tuning available by fretting only the five first strings. Useful while your fingertips get used to the heavier strings. In barre chords use your thumb for the low E string.

I like these tips and in fact have been using them for a long time now especially the F chord. I really like the Taylor too. Keep on bringing us all the great videos 👍

Additional tip. Learn chord inversions and use just three or four strings (the middle and high).

Good video. What about moving from a classical guitar to a steel string acoustic?

As always, good video. I can also pick up my acoustic guitar faster than my electric guitar if I feel like playing a few chords quickly. I flirted a bit with the lutes in the Thomann shop, maybe a video idea too.

How do I know, for instance with HB acoustic electric guitars that i am dealing with smaller body guitar? The advertisement does not always that i am dealing with a smaller body and i am online so i can't see in real life?

@ThomannsGuitarsBasses what size would you suggest for someone who is used to a Les Paul? I’ve never found Dreadnoughts and Jumbos comfortable due to the depth of the body. Generally play(and bend) 10s or 11s on my electrics, so already used to heavier strings.

Anything that's smaller than a Dreadnought is gonna be fine I think. Grand Auditorium, Concert, Parlor, these are all more compact sizes and are very comfy to play. Such as the Taylor in this video. Cheers //Kris

@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses I started when I realized they had left, as the faint rumble of the landers rockets faded the dead silence of the moon overtook me in a cacophony of my own thoughts. Settling into the routine and becoming familiar with greys constantly scanning my thoughts. They are projecting images and ideas into my mind, typically just work orders or procedures to follow. Stay tuned for updates, if my publisher allows
