That guy who jumped from airplane got couple years in jail. Mainly because he interrupted crash investigation.

There are many times people commit crimes and post themselves committing the crime on social media. The aspect that fascinates me is determining why a person would take such action.

@@AviationCareersPodcast i know of an ATC that posted some pictures of an illegal deer he killed. The game warden saw it and his house was raided. I'm sure he was charged and fined heavily.

A lot more states are changing their laws on "sick days" to include mental health. If your state is one of them you could (theoretically) call in sick, and go to Oshkosh; and say it was for your mental health. #NotLegalAdvice

There is much to unpack in this statement. First, a person might get terminated for lying and then need to argue the “mental health” reason. Second, since there are mental health requirements to maintain a medical this could affect the medical. It is a good idea to run this by a union rep, career counselor, or an aviation attorney for unbiased advice concerning calling in sick for a mental health reason. I would be interested in researching those who called in sick for a mental health day and see how it affected their job.

Thank you. There are many sites offering stock video. I like this review of stock video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yVXwyrUm61s.htmlsi=J1otHAsOWpFyQleQ

Out of curiosity, do Airlines typically have somebody that would be willing to review a social media video prior to the employee posting? I have seen plenty videos where they pilot was posting and it was pretty obvious who they flew for, it would just make sense to have have somebody review and give their blessing prior to posting and causing problems

The crew member can always ask to have a video reviewed. My experience is most of the time they advise against posting most videos. Of course there are some who have been given authorization in the past but this is not very common.

A few years ago, I posted my opinions about mask mandates and other covid restrictions. Is this something that an airline would look at unfavorably?

That depends on the recruiter reading your comments and the nature of your comments. When posting on line there is a chance a recruiter will read your comments. It is a good rule of thumb to only post online comments that you would not have a problem with a recruiter asking about in an interview.

Forums can be anonymous
@AviationCareersPodcast

That is true until but the forum can be required to disclose the identity in a legal proceeding. Furthermore, it can be obvious at times who is posting. It is amazing what you can find out about someone through anonymous posts.
