I want to get into building automata, mechanical machines that make figures and stuff go. Purely as an engineering exercise, not for looks, I made a sand automata of an acrobat, which was actually a kind of toy popular in the Victorian age among more well-heeled children (the kind who were not eating coal dust with their dinner of potatoes.) It has a hopper into which is placed sand, and this sand runs out over a mill that turns one way or another depending on where the weight is, and this turns the pole upon which the acrobat spins.
I would like to do more complicated automata, and also I am wanting to get into pocket watch cleaning and renovation but for that I need to get my workshop prepared and get the nasty old carpet torn out and new flooring put in. Obviously getting tiny parts lost in dirty carpeting is not a good idea. After I get those workshop renovations done there may be further automata videos at some point. I still have the farm of course, and come cooler weather I have a lot of work to do with it, building garden beds and such, but for the most part I let the garden take care of itself and still get lots of food from it.
