I’ve thought about painting a deer for a while now but kept getting distracted by landscapes and other animals. I loved the way the light illuminated this stag and created so much contrast between the lighter and darker tones in the fur. It provided a nice challenge in an otherwise simple piece. I chose blue for the background to really make this guy pop and create a more dramatic atmosphere.

Incase your wondering what the first paint they did on the backround, it was cerealean blue and grey mixxed...

Good guess! It was Ultramarine Blue with Titanium White and a bit of Cadmium Red Deep

Check out the beginning of this video. These were the brushes I used. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I87kB3skbcU.html - stiff bristle Fan - stiff bristle flat - soft round - soft flat Brands don’t necessarily matter, I use whatever I can find that makes the mark I need. Hope this helps!
