Every time I saw reactors reacting to this song without knowing the lyrics, I felt sorry for them. I'm so glad you watched a video with English lyrics included. Even though those reactors were moved by the singer's emotions without understanding the lyrics, I believe if they knew the meaning, they would have shed tears just like you did. The lyrics are much more beautiful and touching when understood in its original Korean form. I cried once again while watching your reaction. I 100% agree. Of course everyone will get the same emotion that he's putting out there. But the lyrics are so much more poetic than english can translate.

One small detail worth noting is towards the end of the video, you see a picture of someone's shoes. In Asia, shoes are taken off when entering the house. The singer's dad's shoes were left at the entrance of the house to show that someone is present in case strangers come by but in this case, it also shows the dad's presence/absence in his life. This song has helped me appreciate the loved ones in my life and to try not take anything for granted when times get tough or busy.

들을 대마다 울컥 합니다.전 부모의 얼굴도 형제의 얼굴도 모르고 단신으로 어른이 되었지만 내가 아버지가 되고나니 아버지란 의미를 조금이나마 알겠어요.근데 울 아이들에겐 저런 회생한 아버지가 되어 주었는지 뒤 돌아 봅니다.미안 하기도 하구요,너무 어려울때 죽을까도 고민했을때 있었는데 퍼득 떠 오르는게 울 아이들에게 아버지의 부재를 있게 해서는 안되겠다고 생각 들어서 마음을 고쳐 먹었었지요.세상 모든 가족들 힘 냅시다..

I'm a Korean American living in Korea. This is one of Kim Jin Ho's best performance ever. Makes me tear every time I see this. The translation is a little off at times but gets the message across. It is a song that everybody can relate to. He made this singing method popular. (Not the falsetto but the throaty part where he sings "whoa~~~" ) Not quite sure what they call this technic in English but they call it "소몰이 창법" in Korean. It's a method named after how a cow sounds like when mooing. Some teachers don't recommend this method as it can ruin your vocal chords over the long term putting too much pressure on the throat. I play in a band as a hobby and a lot of vocalists here are technical but not many can move people emotionally like this. The slow acoustic guitar arpreggio mixed with the simple piano background tones.... Kim Jin Ho is truly a rare and very talented artist. Everything was carefully put together and practiced on purpose from beginning to end.... relaying the message and emotions to the audience as perfect as possible. You made an accurate observation noticing his singing technic and body language. I break down everytime I listen to this song too. Your reaction was very honest. Thank you for sharing.

...it's impossible not to burst into tears when listening to Kim Jin-Ho's singing. So so many raw emotions you can hear in his voice...seeing in his face and his whole body! It hits close to home to many for many different reasons! I simply love this song and this performance....one of the most raw, honest and vulnerable on I have ever seen! Great reaction and I hear you words......

I watched this about 5 years ago and had the same reaction you did. I've watched it many times over the years and it always has the same effect. Showing the reactions of the audience certainly doesn't send the message that our reactions are inappropriate. I think everyone in the world would find what we have found in this performance. It's a treasure and a constant reminder of our responsibilities to be kind and loving and thankful. I really need this more often.

Wow. Best interpretation of the song by the foreigner, who may not understand a single word. It was spot on when he explains the song visually. As I visualize it myself along with him, I was helpless, and lost any grip on the senses, and joined him in cry that lifted thousand weights off my body somehow. Very touching! Thank you very much.

Hello... i'm a big fan of Kim Jin Ho and i love your reaction video so much! I love it how finally someone noticed how his entire body was full of tension as we could see the tremors on his hands etc... it feels like he was about to explode but he suppressed it as much as he could... he's the greatest singer I've ever seen, not just because he has unrivaled singing ability and special songwriting skill, but as a person he's too great to be true, he's so popular and getting more popular as someone who keeps doing so many beautiful good deeds, he doesn't sing for money nor popularity, he has been doing a lot of concert for free at schools, hospitals, pediatric cancer ward, nursery, churchs etc... that's why he is rarely seen on TV but despite his lack of TV performances, publics always welcomed him back warmly whenever he appeared once in a while... again, thank you so much for this reaction video!

I watched this years ago and I cried my lung out. It definitely is not the same level as Kim Jin-Ho for who I still have my father alive but the energy, the tone, how he expresses his words, the words(I am Korean American) used in lyric, how he bursts out in emotion, the last few words just overwhelmed me. I for that now try my best to appreciate the time I have with my father who also is waning out of his time as he is getting older... This song and the performance really got me to cry a sea out of myself..

Sometimes, literal translations don't do the original words justice, but in this case I almost wish they had translated a little more literally. In the chorus that the subs translated to "Your days turned into fertilizer to nurture my days", the words he chose literally translate to "To make me bloom, you became fertilizer" (with the implication that his parents worked so hard until they depleted themselves for him). He uses the metaphor of himself as a flower that his parents nourished and cared for in order to grow, but at their own expense. There is love, guilt, mourning, and yearning in the song which I think is so so beautiful and makes the emotions that much more powerful. I haven't seen a lot of people react to this performance so thank you so much for posting about it!

I also recommend his cover of My Love By My Side - the original artist Kim Hyun Sik was dying and left hospital to record it with a voice that was wrecked by illness. Kim Jin Ho sang it on another episode of this show. Unforgettable.

hew man i m crying hard with u rn. so emotional song ever. when he sings, seems like all his emotions are coming out of his body, even tho he trying to hold it.. i grew up under aggressive father , after all i just cut contact with him and i never thought i'd understand him. i still don't understand him but i know what is the father role in family. i prob will find this song whenever i'm sad.

Beautiful reaction brother I was like a long dragged out one I watched every second I watched my parents die so this song hits hard especially my dads death I’m very young and it happened when I was barley 21 but took 2 years to take its course. The singing competition show is called Immortal Songs 2 and it is one of the best shows I have ever seen; the song was done on the show in 2014 and it was around the time I began to watch the show and fell in love with so many amazing South Korean singers. South Korea has so much better singers than we do here in America, I literally stop listening to of the mainstream garbage and got stuck with a ton of Asian singers.

놀랍군요. 많은 분들이 K-pop이 아닌 K-Ballard 에 이렇게 감동적인 반응을 보일 줄이야. 이 노래는 SGwannabe의 메인보컬 출신인 김진호의 솔로앨범에수록된 곡으로 어릴 때 사별한 아버지에 대한 그리움과 아버지의 몫까지 자신을 키워준 어머니에 대한 사랑을 담아 작사, 작곡한 곡입니다. 어느 새 어른이 되어 고달픈 사회생활을 하고있는 누군가의 아들, 딸이라면 눈물을 흘릴 수밖에 없는 매력적인 가사와 멜로디 그리고 강한 척 해보지만 부모 앞에선 어린이 처럼 사랑을 갈구하는 어른 남자의 애절함을 잘 표현한 김진호의 노래실력으로 꾸며진 '가족사진'은 많은 한국인들이 사랑하는 노래입니다. 이미 나온지 10년이 넘은 노래지만 감동의 크기는 전혀 줄어들지 않는 가족사진을 들을 땐 반드시 모국어로 번역된 가사로 즐기시길 바랍니다. 가사의 힘이 얼마나 대단한지 알게 해주는 노래이기 때문이지요.

You should react to his other performance in the same show called "As I Live".. In that performance he sings the song that SG Wannabe sang. That episode was dedicated to beloved ones who are no longer here. So they had him sing it for his band mate who passed away. It will make you bawl too.. make sure you get a subtitled one.

저의 아버지가 심장병으로 인해 큰수술을 하시거나 잘못하면 돌아가실수도 있다고 합니다... 제 앞에서 무너지시는 아버지의 모습을 보고 혼자 술을 마시고 눈물을 흘리는데 함께 눈물 흘리는 모습을 보며 조금 위로가 되었어요 감사합니다

많이 힘드실거를 압니다. 저두 위암으로 점점 말라가는 아버지의 모습을 볼적에 너무 고통스러웠습니다. 아직도 아버지의 마지막 모습이 눈앞에 아른거려 힘드네요~ 시간이 흐르는대로 흘러가시기 바랍니다. 억지로 시간을 되돌리려 하지마세요. 술로 달래시는거.... 아버지는 원하시지 않으세요. 마지막 순간까지 든든하고 씩씩한 아들이 되어주시길 바랍니다.

@@Fhf6r6cigit 그냥 달아 놓은 댓글에 이렇게 좋은 말씀 해주셔서 감사합니다. 술먹은 다음날 깨보니 얼마나 울었는지 눈이 부어서 안떠지더군요... 아버지가 결국 다음달에 심장 수술을 하시게 되었습니다. 지금까지 무서워 하시는 모습 한번 없이 항상 저희 가족 지키느라 강한 모습만 보여주셨는데 처음으로 무섭다고 하시는 말씀 듣고 저도 모르게 많이 힘들었던거 같아요... 님 께서도 아버님이 수척해지시는 모습을 보실 때 얼마나 힘드셨을지 감히 상상도 못하겠네요... 님 말씀처럼 아버지가 수술 잘 받으시고 힘내실 수 있도록 제가 무너지지 않고 아버지 곁에서 든든한 아들이 되도록 노력하겠습니다. 힘드실텐데도 좋은 말씀 해주시며 저에게 힘이 되어주셔서 너무 감사합니다. 앞으로 님의 가정에 건강하고 좋은 일들만 함께 하시길 바라겠습니다. 다시 한번 감사합니다.
