I love Shirley and so appreciated her "spiritual coming-out" years ago. Have always felt aligned with her. I don't think the interviewer is so bad- think she's just, hmm, exuberant. At one point Shirley said something self-deprecating- no need darlin' - love to Shirley.

So many people in the comments are dissing on the host. My viewpoint at the very beginning of watching this may have harmonized with most of the negative comments, but as I was watching, my viewpoint morphed a bit. Here's my take: Although she does have that sort of "LA-ish," "put-on" and sort of fake-sounding persona, I believe she's a good person with good intentions and it's more like NOT that she really is insincere or fake but that she has settled into that sort of persona of "here I am the host and I have to sound… PROFESSIONAL… after all, I'm on a Los Angeles TV station and …" Etc. There are hosts that I REALLY don't like who I think ARE more "fake," (and don't really necessarily care much about the guests or the viewers but more about being a hotshot). I don't get that about this girl. I get that she's genuine but wears the MASK of an LA news host/newscaster etc. I actually think with some direction and practice, she could loosen up a bit and be more toned down/real. I wouldn't say that about all hosts that sort of sound like her. I may be wrong, but I feel I'm right and that's my story and I'm sticking to it :-) For anyone who sees this comment this week (late December 2019) Merry Christmas and a very happy 2020, all!

Interviewer treats guest as a commodity. You can don't that to a great like Shirley without it coming off as superficial. Host needs to be selling beer somewhere at a fair, for tips, that might work better for her. lol
