Absolutely Mitchell! I once did a Jif Peanut butter commercial that took 6 hours to shoot and made $97K over a 3 year period... All the celebs are jumping on the bandwagon now.
I loved working with you, Dan. The energy and chemistry you and John Hemphill brought to the campaign were extraordinary. Glad it was considered "good money." To me, it was worth every cent, my friend. Inspired seeing you keep paying it forward. Live a generous life!
Thank you! Great information! I just started an intro to tv commercials workshop! This is my ultimate goal and you just made a video at the perfect time!
Yes!! D-Dub university thanks for the wonderful video. It was a wonderful insight in the world of a campaign actor. I'm super excited to attract on of those in my life. I believe it can happen because I work with an unfair advantage.... YOU'RE WAY OF WORKING ❤️❤️
Wow! What a great story about your Installer Guy audition! The fact that you put nothing into it thinking that it had already been cast is significant. Let that be a lesson to us all. Thanks for another awesome video, Dan!
Thank you for sharing Dan. Love it. YES, D dub university. Here's a question :) what is your process when you get an audition where you have to improv and basically create your own dialogue?
Thanks Gilmore, and good question. When I have to improv I just take whatever situation I'm given and personalize it based on similar things that happened to me. I definitely think it through before the audition and rehearse several different ways so I'm not caught off guard. Does that help?
Hello Dan Warner, I know there are a lot of agency studios out there what is the best or a few studios that I can audition to do a self tape my friend?!
I don't use those and have been told that casting doesn't really like overproduced self-tapes. I do think the production value should be good, but I feel like a lot of actors overthink this. If you really want to use one, I'd just google one in your area. Hope that helps :)
Okay so the one in a million makes $2 ,million a year - what does the AVERAGE person earn? $2000 a year? 20,000 a Year? I see so many ads for $150 a day.
Thanks for the question Sallie. There's really no way to figure out an average, as there's too many variables. I'm just suggesting that there's some good to great money to be made doing commercials. Thanks for watching!
Do you always get the buy out payment? I did an acting job for $500 day rate with $2000 buy out, but I only received one check for $500. Can I expect a second check for the $2000?
You should have a second check coming for sure! They're not all buyouts. The union jobs for commercials are "pay per play" so you'll receive residuals as long as the spot is playing.
