RU-vid recommended me the Deck of Many Friends video last week and I'm now fully caught up and subscribed to the Patreon. Very hopeful that you'll be able to continue this campaign for many episodes to come!
I love that Hollie was the one who wrote all the family names etc. I did wonder a couple of episodes ago how Hollie knew so much about Mouse like the actual layout of the place etc. I just figured Harry had given her some info of what Endellion would know. Maybe this was obvious to other people, but I guess I just didn't consider that the other players would have directly written their character's backstory. I'm now really excited to see how the other characters develop over future episodes as we discover more about each of them and therefore about what input the players have had in their writing! I might have to up my Patreon tier because I *need* to see Endellion's diary for this episode!
I’m glad for Ben’s insight here on the whole hypnotic gaze of it all. In the episode itself the moment threw me but now understanding Raidion’s motivations it actually makes sense. It’s for reasons like this that I love Action Surge.

DnD babyyyyyyyyy ⚡️⚡️⚡️ this was a great episode for the Action Surge insights, particularly the Raidion / Endellion conflict 😲💡 I found myself frustrated with and slightly baffled by both characters’ behavior mid-golem battle 😆🫢 but it all makes sense when you hear how the players delineate the “bright lines” in their characters’ decision-making. Also kudos to Harry for managing the tension so smoothly! 👏🏼
Really awesome insight into the co-creative process behind Mouse and the leading family. The theming behind the traps placed by each of the brothers was really ingenious (for someone for hasn't watched the films behind the inspiration). Whatever happens in Mouse, I hope that Endellion's story doesn't end with the town's, so that further down the campaign she still has some backstory up her sleeve. When talking about AOE spells and taking turns, I only know the BG3 system where everything is easily visualised, where communication is hardly required. Magic is so versatile, I imagined that as part of the roleplay the characters would discuss tactics a bit more, or at least keep track of what cantrips and spells the party has. But yeah, I still probably need some kind of battle map rather than theatre of mind when playing with my table, especially if I was playing a spellcaster.

Love that Hollie. Sorry im never sure how to spell the characters name had a criteria for revaling her self. I love that action surge gives us a little peak behind the curtain.
Been watching since around epiosode 2 but damn really enjoying the show. Only started watching the action surge recently though and its really cool to hear the opinions of the actors playing the characters and have a chance to see them as opposed to just seeing the characters. Side note, took me an embarrassing amount lf time to realise that the Doug Cockle playing Kellness was That Doug Cockle, thought he was just doing an impression, if anyone just goes to show how well you guys roleplay
lol As they were talking about how Andellion and Radian would get past this push/pull relationship I was thinking, “They’re going to F…” and then DM says, “it’s kind of a sibling relationship”. Um…. Yeah, if siblings were totally going to realise someday that they can’t live without each other and actually ultimately enemy to lovers. Yes, I’m shipping… But tension is what tension is. ;-)
Eh, one of the characters leaving is not the worst thing to happen. Ben or Hollie could come back as a different character, but I'm guessing since the characters are so new neither would want to give theirs up. Having tension in the group can be good as long as that's not the only story going on. Every drama and comedy need B and C plots.
meh. Anyone casts a combat spell on me after 10 sessons of distrust and tension, I would have reacted a lot differently than Holls did. She took the high road.
Love the show and cast but for me just a little Holli plays Endellion a bit to smart and snarky with intelligence of 8. Just an opinion not wanting to criticise because you all doing great. One of the best out there. 7-8: Dull • Intelligence 7: Notices patterns and can engage in basic reasoning but is often slow on the uptake. Has difficulty with more advanced concepts or abstract thinking. • Example: A simple village peasant who can manage daily tasks but is easily baffled by anything unfamiliar. • Intelligence 8: Can understand and solve simple problems, but anything requiring more than basic education or critical thinking is likely beyond them. • Example: A farmer with basic knowledge of the world and common sense but lacking in formal education.
See, that's not how I interpreted it-I see it more as being about the skills associated with that stat and how they apply to the character. For me, it means I don't have the insights or abilities that investing points into intelligence would provide. Oddly enough, we've had a very similar discussion in a future episode of Action Surge. When we rolled the characters, the reality was that I had a low roll, and at least one of my stats ended up being a -1. So, when I consider who Endellion is and what's important to her, the things associated with intelligence stats just aren't her priorities. She was a kid who wanted to go on adventures, not sit in a classroom. She doesn't like magic, so I don't need Arcana. From the very start, she has shown a total disregard for religion, and she doesn't favour investigating things-she'd rather push straight through. However, she is proficient in History so that nullifies a bit of that, and we did homebrew Nature because she loves the forest. So, placing points into intelligence just doesn't feel worth it, either as a player or a character. It doesn't boost the skills I associate with her and what intelligence means in this context - Hollie
Intelligence can be interpreted differently. She doesn't have a lot of knowledge of arcana and isn't the one for investigating and looking up things so it fits but sometimes she has inherit knowledge. I dont think snarks should be determined by intelligence scores either Plus intelligence irl is seen differently by people. Some may say a student isn't smart but they might just understand things differently or need more time it doesn't mean they are dumb. It's a complicated stat and an eight is just -1 which means slightly below average so I think Hollie plays it well

Guess this is like I ( the character, not me) who is intelligent but can’t read. Not at all, the rule book is great but it’s also open to a lot of different interpretations and this just happens to be mine. As an observation both views makes sense, it’s just that we’ve both taken different approaches to how we apply them :) - Hollie
