He is 100% correct. The cabinet is too bloated. What is the use of deputy Ministers? They can't even act in the absence of the minister. It's just an added financial burden on us tax payers.
Further to being bloated, it just shows distrust, ministers and deputy ministers being watchdogs to one another. Unfortunately this goes against the spirit of gnu, underline mostly in that cabinet name, UNITY.

Most of people who are in this cabinet are the ones that failed before.At least should have brought new and those who did well in their department before.
I agree with what ActionSA is saying about the "watch cabinets members", unfortunately people have become very untrusting because of all the corruption. As much as it concerns me that much needed money is going to be wasted on salaries, I take comfort in knowing that by having eyes watching each other, corruption might be curved dramatically. Maybe the cabinet will be reduced next election when watch party members will no longer be needed.
I dont think the deputy ministers are the actual problem. I like the idea of multiple parties keeping each other to account in these ministries. The cost is the actual problem. What i would like to see and i believe the all south africans is cutting salaries and perks. Thats another way of cutting the costs. But sadly i dont think government will take that decision for themself. This is where we can learn from kenya on how to make politicians take its citizens seriously and understand we didnt put them there to live great lifes but rather to give us better lifes.
But I support what action SA is doing,how can u have a government without opposition, where each and every party has a portfolio,how will they challenge the corrupt ANC and DA,?they won't because they'll be scared of being reshuffled.

Trollip is very influential to ActionSA council board,the fact that they chose to remain the opposition party says a lot,from day one they said,they will never wrk with ANC at any stage of governance,even when ANC was desperate.
Rejecting the new cabinets on what basis, because Mashaba indicated earlier and always of not wanting to participate where the ANC and DA are involved. They remain on the opposition benches.. What else could the President would have done at the current circumstances. Let the GNU govern and it was anticipated to be a big cabinet because of all state holders participating in it and the most important factors are peace and stability, growth of the economy, job creation and fighting crime and a multi approach to job creation. Let them work and 'am glad there are young members of parliament , a mix of young and old of which is a good mixture. Goodluck with the new cabibet. Angie will soon go on retirement and how on earth dies she refuse to retire since 1994 been a cabinet minister with no productivity . This was a compromised position , as she refused to retire or to work with Siviwe as the minister of basic education. It's a sign that she needs to retire. She must retire and the defence doesn't need a magogo with no clue and experience on how this dept operates. All her mates have retired , she won't stay long, as both deputies are still energetic and they will be doing all the work. She will stay in office and do administration. She must go and rest. If he thinks that the ANC would appoint a DA minister without one of his own deputy ministers as a watch dog then he is an idiot. So the chance for a smaller cabinet was basically zero. Why he criticise the DA for the bloated cabinet is beyond me. The only way for the DA to turn this country around is by being part of the cabinet and not by sitting on the sidelines. If that means taking up 6 deputy minister spots along with the 6 ministers then so be it. At least then they can still have some influence in the running of those portfolios.
Quite right, Athol .. just one example of Ramasofa's shambolic & strategic deployments is the appointment of Angie Motshekga as minister of defence ! .. after a disastrous term as minister of education & should've been fired long ago, she now occupies one of the most important portfolios of the govt ! .. if she knows absolutely nothing about education, how & why on earth is she deployed as minister of defence ! .. as for the rest of the deployments, clearly just another ploy to keep the ANC in comtrol for as long as possible .. the majority of deployments don't make any ratiional sense at all !

The ANC is represented in all ministries as either a minister, a deputy minister or a second deputy minister. It simply implies that the ANC is fully in charge of everything in essence, making the GNU proposal to sway away from its original intension. Statistically there is a fair degree of deception here.

The DA should never have agreed to that letter of intent without stipulating a marked reduction in cabinet posts and a clear understanding regarding proportionality. The ANC, even after its loss, hasn't changed one bit. Now, we sit with a bloated cabinet filled with incompetent ANC deployees and can therefore expect more of the same. The DA is on a leash, so I won't hold my breath. It's quite disappointing, to say the least, and very far from a GNU. The ANC has far too much power because the cabinet does not reflect the will of the people.
I reject it too, particularly the allocation of ministries and there's just too many ministries. We don't need two deputy presidents. It is the waste of taxpayer's money, perhaps we should revolt, this is bs.
