I just spend the last half hour looking for this video. I saw it like 2 years ago and my golly some of the best ragdoll I've seen. Perfectly balanced between stiff and protective to loose and out of control. Love it

Unfortunately I don't have a downgraded version. The project was made with 4.12 and automatic conversion to 4.11 isn't possible

Wow, the body physics is spot on. Very realistic, great job. The only comment I have is that this is how unconscious body looks like (or dead one). But awake (aware) humans would have tendency to control their decent(or what ever) and movement. So they will look more rigid as all their muscles would be in use to regain balance. Other than that awesome work ;)

Миша, сколько ты убил времени на это? Рагдолл просто шикарен. Он не крутится как безумный, будто у него нет веса и его части тела не крутятся по оси. И судя по всему тут есть какая-то поддержка скелетом, т.к. при падение на согнутые ноги он не просто пластом разваливается, а реагирует как в реальности за счет самих ног. Обязан отметить работу мышц, которая просто великолепна. Я нигде не встречал столь продвинутого и реалистичного рагдолла. Обалденная работа.

Спасибо. Примерно месяц. Реалистичность получается из-за того что суставы не просто свободно вращаются без какого-либо сопротивления, а "стараются" держать определенную позу и прикладывают для этого силу.

RelativisticJet Проект сегодня появился в маркете, ссылка в описании. По поводу анимации - я не добавил ее специально т.к. так как целью было предоставить инструменты для тестов и конфигов, чтобы можно было быстро "бросать" персонажа на препятствия и быстро поднимать и опять бросать - и смотреть результат (а не смотреть какждый раз как он поднимается)

Slapstick Comedy Simulator 2016. The only thing this still needs is silly cartoon sound effects. Fall over, *BOINK!* XD In all seriousness, though, the world needs more little simulations like this that people can download and play around with. Sometimes having rules in a game feels too limiting. It's always nice to just throw the toys around instead of making them into a proper game. :D

Maybe a stupid question, but is there any way to transition back to an active animation after you've already ragdolled? I realise this is basically the tech behind NaturalMotion but it would be awesome if that could "easily" be implemented into Unreal. Looks great by the way.

Now we're in Unreal Engine 5 territory, the only game I feel like had this level of physics was RDR2 and that wasn't as good as this in the video shown here. Disappointing times. Hopefully things improve from game developers and we get something identical to this in a game on next gen.

Andrew Preston From what I can tell this might be some kind of hardware/software incompatibility (other users didn't have any problems with the project). Or this is could be your antivirus. Try disabling your antivirus or make an excluded folder and redownload the project to that folder.

I need help with something. Is it possible to also have another character, such as an ai guy, other than the one you control, to be subjected to the ragdoll effects? like for example lets say i shoot a wooden sphere at him (which knocks the player character down) , can i have him react to the physics the same way that the player character does? and then maybe the ai character can get back up after a few seconds?

When I try to get up in the game with another character mesh and anim class, It cannot get up. It says accessed none playing montage... I retargeted your animation to my skeleton, but still doesnt work when it comes up getting back up, same error.

Tommy Lau Hi. See if the animation montages are playing correctly. Check the GettingUp branch in the ActiveRagdollCharacter blueprint and the Animations folder.

Tommy Lau creating a montage requires you to select a skeleton. Try creating a new test montage for your new skeleton and see if it plays correctly

Да. Там дальше в видео есть момент где персонаж отлетает от сферы которая является просто физическим объектом, кинутым в персонажа с помощью Add Radial Impulse в блупринте. Все физические воздействия, которые можно применить к обычному рагдоллу - подходят и к этому.

Yes, but if your skeletal mesh uses a skeleton that is incompatible with the standard ue4 skeleton you'll need to create a physics asset for it and one simple keyframed animation

Is there a way I can have this happen on my or an AI character upon collision with say a sword or gun projectile and apply an impulse / ragdoll the character into that direction? How would you go about it in bp?

Yes this is happening in the video when the character is hit by a sphere. The principle is this: 1. Put the character into ragdoll mode 2. Apply impusle/force (or hit by something like a sword or a car (sphere in my case))

You need a charcter blueprint, animation blueprint and a physics asset. If your character uses standard ue4 skeleton than the physics asset should be compatible with minor tweaks, otherwise you'll have to create the asset for your charcter first. The animation blueprint is made of only few nodes, so copying/remaking them shouldn't be a big problem. The character blueprint is a bit more complex. I believe everything could be done in 1 day

Can you convert this demo into an .apk (Android) application as this ragdoll physics are amazing ? :) Of course you would have to downgrade the graphics a bit

As I understand you need an Android SDK in order to do that, and also scale the graphics down a bit. I havent tested the project on anything but Windows as my goal was to demonstrate that the active ragdoll animation is possible in UE4, and not that it will work on any platform. I believe what you are suggesting is possible on other platforms as UE supports packaging/scaling for Android/iOS/PS4 and others, but you will need to buy SDK/Developer Program for each platform in order to achieve that.
