Brother Hunan ! while we are reading a topic we are taught to memorize it word by word and basically copy paste it in exams but now in FSc there are lost of concepts and material , so how do we actually learn it , by just remembering the process and write it in our own words , if so we are not used to it , like learning boyle's law , so how do we actually apply active recall for long questions ?
@HannanTayyab
@HannanTayyab 2 года назад
I would usually break long questions in different parts and then try to active recall each part. Also mnemonics help remember the stuff a lot. Best way is to understand. Always think of it this way if you can explain it some one then you know the concepts. if you cant then this means you are lacking some understanding.

How will I apply this method for theory subjects? How to recall lengthy answers in active recall method?
@HannanTayyab
@HannanTayyab 3 года назад
@priyanka p ; Every one is different you have to find out which method work for you best, but if i have to recall lengthy answers i would 1) first when i would read, i would just close the book and try to remember that in my mind 2) Second i would identify which part is most important and which concept is more important and make some of them in flashcards 3) Also for lengthy questions that is whole is important i would break them in different parts and try to recall each part separately.

Aik or cheaz hy jis hy jis cy active recall ke effectiveness brh jate hy wo randomisation. Don’t recall in the same order try to recall in unpredictable order. System Kiya ha learning ka .
@HannanTayyab
@HannanTayyab 3 года назад
Rahul that is a excellent question btw. Asal meh ap learning ko aise smjhen key jese imagine kren ap ny A point cy B point phunchna Hy you can use car, bike, motorbike, jet, helicopter or you can go even by foot. It depends upon what is your distance And how much speed you want and how much energy can you spend. Now to see that which is absolutely best, jet is absolutely best but to make that fly you need energy. Active recall ko be is trah he smjhen that it is a very high energy demanding tool but it will take you faster. But your mind can't take the load abi. You will meet lot of frustration too. You have to face all the disadvantages of jet (meaning active recall). So if you have to make Notes make in such a way that you can use active recall in it. Like Cornell Notes. Secondly in my opinion remaking notes and condensing notes is not useful at all. But in Cornell notes you already have condensed notes in lower column. Also mind map is a tool but it is passive review type. It's better if you can make mind maps from your brain. You have to understand that no method is absolutely best some are more better then other. Don't search for absolute best. This will only waste your time. Make a system in which you use maximum active recall methods. And then add space repitition to strengthen your memory..

For lot of material I will advise you start as early as possible. Use active recall to put in your mind and space repitition to keep it in your mind for long term. Secondly consider which are the important chapter and which are most important topics and try to do them with your absolute best. Also make clear in your mind how much of one subject you have covered. Make a diary in which especially written in chapter form. Also Notes is a type of study method. But how we usually make it is a type of passive review. But notes can help you if you can use Cornell notes study method. For flashcards only use it for absolute important things. Always keep in mind you should only make 1-2 flashcards per topics as you have hundreds of topics . If you have 500 topics from all subject you have 1000 flashcards it is still fairly large. So flashcards can store in your memory with almost more than 80 percent retention. But do it in such a way that it is doable.
