Nice one Matt, I had my setting as per your original YT video about ASN , main difference now seem to be the visibility settings, I try these new settings. :)
I've often wondered (not just your video) when giving any type of instruction if there is some reason for trying to talk as fast as possible. And yes I know you can slow it down.
When ascending or descending through clouds, there is a particular layer which turns the screens 'sky blue' rather than white or grey and looks too much like blue sky than fog or clouds and I can sometimes see the silouette of clouds in the background. It's kind of weird and was wondering if others are getting this. And how do i fix it?
Matt, the link for the config file, I get a white screen, cloud in the middle with a red bullseye M in the middle, nada after that, is this link still active, if so what don't i have to access it... Thanks in advance.
Hi Matt do you use P3d? My Active sky next is always crashing with ambient error when I try to use it with P3d 2.4. Do you have any idea what could be the problem or did you ever came across such issues?
can I use asn with the older disk version of fsx? also are there newer or better weather rendering programs out there now. and what would you suggest for xplane 10? Thanks so much.
I have to disagree with your visibility settings, Yes from the surface you could probably only see level ground about 15 miles, however setting ASN this way, you would lose visibility of the mountains. For example Mt Rainier can easily be seen from Seattle on a clear day that is over 60 miles away. As for upper visibility I've seen real pilots posting on AVSIM report they can see mountains over 100 miles away when the sky is clear, like in the Western US. My settings are 75 milers surface, and 100 miles upper!
***** Here's a video demonstrating possible surface visibility. This is right across Puget Sound from Seattle You can see Mt Rainier which according to Google Earth is about 64 miles from that approximate location. Seattle's Space Needle,Downtown, Mount Rainier volcano, Puget Sound & peaks of Olympic peninsula
I ended up with 40 miles vis based on what I can see from my local airport on a clear day. Instead of forum posts and videos I took a drive up there took a few pics. I've had one real life flight (in a heli) with visibility greater than 60 miles and that was a stunning sunny day with very low humidity. Having said all that, I'm pretty sure you can see Mt Rainier from orbit.
I have to agree really. Just tested your settings and particularly up in the air, the visibility seems really too low and looks a bit 'soupy'. It may have just been because the visibility was actually really that low in both Switzerland and Manchester
Hi Matt hope your well. Just a quick question I've just bought active sky next and done all the set up. I'm also using the textures as recommended by you rather than Rex 4. Is there anything you need to change or check within fsx, only when I load a flight and have set the weather esp if it's raining, when the flight loads you can see the weather loading but then it changes and the rain disappears almost like there's texture loss. Any ideas would be very helpful.
Yeah ill look at that maybe that will sort it out but i might just do a fresh install see if that helps. I'm right in saying though that I don't need to change any settings within fsx under the weather tab as ASN over rights any previous settings.
REX is really annoying me... I cannot turn off rainfall or disable these ugly cirrus clouds that are really low.... Do I need Active Sky or can I make Active Sky manipulate REX....
