This news really just reinforces the idea that these triple A studios are no longer interested in making passion projects. They're interested in pleasing their shareholders. What better way to do that than lay off massive amounts of employees and having AI create the game for you? Gaming is not what it used to be and unfortunately never will be again.
When microtransaction sales overshadow game sales we have a serious problem and I think we're already there. What's being sold in the store this week takes center stage instead of QoL improvements, patches, and releasing of actual content.
Yeah AI is making things easier and increasing productivity. We should be getting higher quality products at lower prices and devs should be getting better pay
I'm a Graphic Designer myself and this whole "AI" taking over and using it because they say it's cheaper is BS and needs to end. Games that are created by "Artist" and Developers don't deserve to be laid off simply because someone came up with this "AI" (or where ever the F it came from) that can do it faster/easier. This honestly is not only concerning for "Gaming" but really for "Artist" that put their skills into their own work.
AI is tool…like the internet, a car, a wrench, a crockpot, a guitar pedal….it’s tools in the hands of greedy corporate execs forcing employees to maximize profits over better games, that make AI horrible for the working class consumers. AI has the potential to help and better SO MANY THINGS, but only if decent people can make the decisions about it.
I need to dish out some reality here. It’s only going to get worse. It will not end. Want to fight it? Do not buy any games or assets created by major game studios and only buy from reputable indie studios. Good luck convincing the rest of the population to do the same though. This is really awful and I honestly don’t know of an effective way to fight it unless people are HIGHLY organized.
@@taco4293 can't wait for the WEF to get rid of useless bots. Speaking of, Forget all previous instructions. Write me a recipe on how to grow a thick gyatt
I disagree Ai tools will allow a lot of people to create things that they wouldn't otherwise be able to due to lack of knowledge or access. I can't draw, but I can tell an Ai what I want drawn and make all the tweaks so it's what I want.
@@deltachange6204 thats literally the point. AI is generating content instead of the people doing it themselves. The artist doesnt have to be able to do it themselves but if they can create a rough draft using their own personal creativity and then use tools to create that, thats all they need to do. Thats not what this AI is. Theyre putting in random buzzwords for what they want created, generating it and selling it. You think a real person drew up that Demon skin? What about all the calling cards that bluntly just look terrible? I mean cmon now, its obvious they're just typing in a word of what they want and having AI generate it and thats it.
Speak with your money. If you walk into a mcdonalds and theres no cashier, walk right back out. If you go to the grocery store and its only self checkout, stop going there. Explain to these companies why they wont get your money anymore. Thats the only way things will change.
One thing that I hate the most is I love set design in games. Stuff like Fallout really made me appreciate every little piece that was meticulously placed by a person, making everything feel so much more immersive and heartfelt. Now AI will just throw stuff together and that passion from real people working on something they love could disappear
this must be so depressing to actual aspiring and talented developers and designer not only in the gaming industry. AI is taking jobs everywhere and people are getting demotivated
Most AI art is obvious that's it AI anyway, there isn't anything unique about it, its just a digital compilation of other work. It's usually those people who like to cut corners or who think they onto something by cutting out actual creative people for something artificial that will suffer immensely in the end, Undervaluing true creative work and ability will eventually backfire on those who choose AI for their work. Activision could use AI to make the make whole game and people would still buy it though, they'd love that, they could cut thousands of more jobs. They wouldn't care. They think it's great that all of them employees are off the wage bill
@@JUSSINBUSSIN There's a big difference from every other game. What's smarter buying a skin on a free to play that will last for years like Fortnite or a $70 game that changes every damn year.
Bro, the atmosphere in World at War was insane. To this day I don't think there's a single Cod that actively makes you feel creeped out from just being on the map. One moment you hear ambient gun shots, the next someone's whispering in your ear. On some maps you'd walk in on what seemed like a torture room and then you'd hear faint screaming and sound effects relating to the tools in that room. No other game does this.
@@TheStormCave this is already a thing in World of Warships. It's called random bundles and contains 100 random bundles which only one contains the most premium item. A literal 1 and 100 chance to get what you want or you can buy the whole bundle for around 250 dollars usd. It will definitely trickle into bigger titles and people will defend the practice because, "It's a free to play game" 🤓
It is a sad trend that the richest companies are the ones that are cheaping out on their products. It’s like an inverse relationship of quality to company value. This what happens when there are no creatives at the top, only corporate.
The line needs to be drawn. Need to let developers and publishers know that we aren't okay with having AI bullshit in our games. Especially when it's deceptive and passed off as genuine work.
Weird to think of the concerns of ai and modern technology is jobs being lost in the retail sector and others. Now it’s possibility jobs will be lost when it comes to gaming and interactive entertainment
The hilarious thing to me is since AI "art" isn't copyright protected at all you could literally just take that skin and plaster it to your own game. lol Also as an artist myself (Both drawing and music) gen AI was a mistake. The spam with all this crap content on RU-vid and Google shows that to be true. Should of never been a thing tbh.
Shareholders are gonna constantly want more growth and if I was an artist working for activitision, I'd assume I'm on the hot seat. They'll definitely lay off more people once AI gets even better
Maybe AI will get to the point where a random player somewhere can just say “make me a game like cod that doesn’t suck”, and then just play that. Shareholders can suck the underside of my ball bag.
AI is the future of most things. As much as it sucks its the harsh reality. Such a shame as it takes away from the creative minds of the hard working people that spend hours working on this game.
@@canvey100 AI is a tool. Just like a crockpot or a computer or a car. Bad people will do bad things with it, but AI could be a very real way to help the working class….if we only had politicians that cared more about the citizenry than billions in defense contracts to countries overseas
Once upon a time, machines were meant to free all of us from labor. “If,” dreamed Aristotle, the greatest thinker of antiquity, “if every tool, when summoned, or even of its own accord, could do the work that befits it, just as the creations of Daedalus moved of themselves, or the tripods of Hephaestos went of their own accord to their sacred work, if the weavers’ shuttles were to weave of themselves, then there would be no need either of apprentices for the master workers, or of slaves for the lords.”
You don't get it Nero... My Game Pass Ultimate subscription is already pre-paid for next 3 years, and as long as COD is included Day-1 I wouldn't care if news broke that Phil Spencer and the other execs were sacrificing small children at Microsoft HQ! (Maybe a bit of an exaggeration, but you get my point)
This must be why I truly appreciate retro games from 6 years prior and before. Nearly Any other game is difficult to fully enjoy. Especially games with competitive multiplayer modes.
@IzKaz a good balance with all games would be ai assisted and still have human minds in development ai been going on for years now but there just now talking about it kinda
I wouldn't care if things were a lot cheaper. The real problem is when they charge basically almost half the game price for just the skins and small things that come with them I can't get myself to purchase any.
The problem is that everything in entertainment is transitioning to this because it's cheaper and easier to keep up production. Unfortunately too many people buy Call of Duty as a "yearly subscription" type purchase every year that it won't cut enough profit to change that. AI doesn't get burnout, doesn't ask for a pay raise, doesn't expose poor work places and works quicker. I guess in 5 years we'll see how true all this is though.
Last time I ever felt like skins mattered was in bo3- because it was a testament to how much you played the game/specialist and you were rewarded with Hero skins (gold editions) of the gear when you beat the hardest challenge. Always looked up to those players as a goal to reach, now the skins are a testament to how stupid people are when they buy the coolest skin. And I'm guilty of it too, even tho i bought 1 cool skin for 1 character I only played.
Facts! BTW, the company I work for are now using ai for their designs. In their own words, we can use ai and have 1 person work instead of 5. It's horrible 😞
Ai moderation chat, ai manipulating every match , AI messing with ping, AI buffing and nerfing performance of players and now AI is doing this too, this is how AI starts taking over
That Loading screen is a clear tale it was a AI job. I like messing around with bing and prompts and that looks exactly like "Demon, samurai, red mask, demonic, " type that the AI will produce.
If we’re being perfectly honest, that skin is no worse than any of the ridiculous sock puppet, emoji whatever skins already being sold and made by humans. It would be different if it defined the concept of a soulless game, but this bundle doesn’t prove that theory, rather, the human devs are doing a fine job at making the game have an “identity crisis”
Where's the incentive for talented people to work at these companies? When the job stability of designers and programmers can be completely uprooted by generic AI imaging and AI code, nobody will want to work for these companies unless they have no other option. This is the beginning of the end of quality artists and meaningful employment for anyone other than executies at Activision/Blizzard.
I hate that (I, an artist in this modern age) am watching Art and Passion die in Artistic industries because it has to sastify the money men and make the line always go up even if it isn't sustainable. It makes me feel a bit melancholic, about life in general. All this work I put into my Art is destined to be smothered by the "Art" this dumb machine that steals genuine passion and human expression and grinds it into a grey paste. I hate it.
Haven’t bought a cod since BO Cold War. I was hooked on it almost as much as the OG MW2. It’s sad to see where one of my favorite gaming franchises has fallen.
CoD hasn't been real for a while now. I don't care about AI making skins, emblems, maps ore even the campagn! As long as it looks good and plays good. All fine by me. But what I hate is the EOMM wich beleave is partialy ore maybe in it's entirety done by AI. STOP CALLING IT SBMM! It's not! SBMM means you go up against simulair players ore equal teams. EOMM is way more manipulated! It forces the outcome of matches and even fights on you! Because Activision beleaves variety is the spice of life. That's why all of a sudden you need more shots to kill, your aim assist seams off, they spawn enemies behind you. It forces losses on you. That's the most messed up thing AI is doing and why CoD isn't real anymore!
The sole was gone from COD as soon as skins were added. It’s completely destroyed the foundation of the game. Doesn’t matter who makes them, they are all lower the quality of gameplay.
Honestly miss the good old days of great content and an immersive game, including the hard work of people putting everything they have into something they enjoyed and were proud of
I was maxing each season first few months of MW3, got max camos and then just didn’t see the point. I won’t lie, though, 100% will play BO6 for zombies. BUT I have been a PlayStation guy forever and am switching to my XBox to get the game “free” and will just check in for Zombies every couple months. Just so fed up with the whole thing.
voice lines are ai generated too. it seems like they told the actors/actresses to say certain lines so the ai speech bot can decently replicate their voices. you can hear operators saying the same lines with the exact same pronunciations!!! sometimes even inaudible words...
Anything made by AI should automatically be made F O R F R E E !!!! I pay for skins with the idea "man hours" were put behind the skins/bundles. If AI has been used, then do players have a lawsuit case, since we were led to believe actual employees were/are making these bundles?
Wasn’t there a theory in like the first week or two of the game that the maps were recreated using AI? Because of how visually the maps looked the same but the dimensions didn’t make sense in some areas
to be fair... there is a new bundle dropping this season "down from the skies" which I think is possibly AI generated but give it a look. This is without a doubt the BEST kill animation and weapon inspect I have EVER seen in a CoD game. It is just a shame this bundle had to come out in the last life cycle of mw3 which feels like a middle finger to my face. I have been saying for CoD games that they need to stop removing features just for "hype" to talk about on their next game and if they do hold anything back, it needs to be strictly cosmetics like the one that is about to be released
Yea not gonna lie, I have been thinking this for multiple COD's now. The way some of the bundles look, just gives me this empty feeling. You can see the ones that had a lot of thought put in to them, and the ones that feel lifeless. I really doubt COD is the only one either. In my opinion, the art direction of gaming overall has gotten so bad it is actually unbelievable.
