As a photographer, I found your insights to be incredibly informative. I will take this video (and the one that preceded it) to heart. Hey Wendy, quick question, you mentioned that you have to know your type and that your photos should reflect that to the casting directors. How about when going to a talent showcase? Are you supposed to portray your personality or do you pick a photo that portrays your character types? There's conflicting information out there in regards to that since you aren't exactly auditioning for a particular role to a casting director.

Wendy, I appreciate all the inside information you are sharing with us. In kind, I would like to share some information with you, as I have had similar issues with color shifting web cameras. Often web cams default to automatic settings for focus, gain, iris, and light balance (often called white balance or right light). These adjust dynamically as lighting changes. This can cause noticeable changes in the video every time it senses a minute change. The best results from the web cameras are to set them to their manual settings, then adjust them to your desired setting. The outcome is they are less distracting to your content. It may take a bit of digging to find where the controls are; but it is worth it. Thank you again and keep up the good work.

Great advice! And may I add - DO NOT try and have your headshots done to represent a type that you WANT to play. You have to know YOUR type as you ARE! If you are quiet, girl next door, but want to play tough, hard, action type of girl.....don't try to shoot your headshot to look like the action girl thinking that you're going to "diversify" your looks and have more options.

I have a question if anyone can answer this that would be great! So, when you are doing acting headshots I know that they want minimal makeup and they want you to look the same from your headshots. What if I do my headshots without makeup or less makeup then show up to a casting then have makeup then what? How does that work?
In headshots you wear some makeup, just not heavy makeup. And you shouldn't be going to audition in heavy makeup either -unless the character would be made up that way. - Otherwise just ALWAYS wear a regular amount of makeup- in your headshots and your auditions.

Are you interested in doing film or TV? For TV look at the shows you think you would be right for. Frankly I rarely see an actress on tv with dreads. Doesn't mean it cant be done, but TV has a mold and they like their actors to fit into the "themes" of what is already going on.

Great tips over the years I haven't done anything really. Played a positive concerned friend to the leading male actor in a small film in college produced by DC productions. Then I did a few extra rolls. One for the movie "Polish bar" scenes I was in was for some club scenes at a bar called The Enclave in Chicago. Now here is the thing I was in tons of scenes in front of the camera but when the movie came out I could barely see me lol . at the end of the shoot I was ask to do another scene with a few other women. They said this one paid way more hundreds then what I did but it was a partial nude scene so I left. My question is what kind of type should I to for? I want to save up for a headshot now? also do you think I was cut out the movie for not doing the partial nude scene? Just wondering
So, on the contrary, I read somewhere that your headshot need to be of you being yourself so that the directors aren't shocked to see someone completely different when you show up at the audition. Is this true? Or you're saying it's better to have a headshot of the type of role you're playing, specific to that audition? So take a headshot for every audition you go to?
Hey Wendy, I was wondering how many headshots an actor should have. I know in your video you mentioned Theatrical and Commercial, but you also mentioned having multiple looks within those categories, so should an actor have a plethora of headshot looks and submit them as appropriate?
