I believe that the “how” and the “why” were the two most eye opening aspects of Sam’s process. I had no idea of how people immediately perceived me. It blew my mind. With every audition and especially every booking, I thank God above that I took Sam’s class. It totally changed the way that I approached my job.
We do offer both Zoom and in-person. Our most recent zoom Worksop was May 5-8, 2023. Our next one will likely be at the end of the summer into the fall.

Thanks so much. Great 20 minutes video! Are we expected to wear the same hairstyle (e.g. straight hair vs ponytail, prop eyeglasses) like in the headshot for in person audition?
Not necessarily. You can make distinct choices for hair/wardrobe for each audition. If the hairstyle is very different from your headshot, you could always revert back for the slate. That is, if you have your hair up for the audition, you could let it down for the slate. But the interesting thing about what we mention in the video about these essences and qualities is that if you accurately reflect them in your headshot, they will still come across in your audition video regardless of your hairstyle. On a related note, the conventional wisdom is that if you wear your hair/makeup/clothes a certain way for the first audition, do it the same way for the callback. There are exceptions to every rule, but that's a good default.

When an engineer becomes an actor you get an orderly understanding of “the process” of acting. Super helpful for us actors who do not possess this innate ability. This is why I love your videos, not only for the topics but for the “how-to” part. Consternation? Hi Mathew, can you do a video about how to get casting directors to see you as a guest star instead of a co-star? Especially after you've booked a couple of costars with them? 😊
Temperature control is critical as always so make sure that your metal of choice is fully brought up to temperature. The temperature of the mold is often overlooked. You can preheat the mold which helps prevent blockages from metal solidifying before the entirety of metal is poured as well as eliminating moisture from the casting media which tends to flash into steam and screwing up your pour. Also, be sure to take shrinkage into account which happens when the metal cools and solidifies. Making your mold 2% larger is a good starting point.
