This is a bizarre analysis of the situation and I'm really surprised that Dr Grande has minimised the seriousness of the allegations against Colleen by comparing the number of videos and fans she has with the number of allegations.

Making a mistake: typically a one off, spur the moment… Colleen’s situation is a clear pattern of inappropriate behavior with minors. Having multiple secret group chats where she asked children their favorite sex positions, asked for pics of adam’s ass, ask for videos of children inserting tampons into their mouths, saying how she wants to have sleepovers with all of them…. And then making zero mention of any of this, while singing that her “haters” are upset over a fart joke….? Not even mentioning the fact she made deliberate pointed attempts to get her young fans to ruthlessly bully Adam after he came out with his initial allegations. This woman is not a champion of cancel culture. She is a predatory person who is finally being called out for her exploitative behavior. I am a huge fan of Dr Grande and watch his videos every morning as I get ready for work. His take on this was clearly uninformed and I’m pretty disappointed at his takeaway that Colleen’s song was a win for anyone. It was blatantly disrespectful of those she harmed.

Can we get a collective analysis into an audience that knew about all of these accusations, backed by videos that have been LIVE and viewed millions and millions and millions of times for years, but suddenly in 2023, this bothers them. Why now? You’ve seen the videos. They’ve been there for years. This has been covered hundreds of times. What changed? RU-vid should demonetize every single video about this topic except the videos posted by the victims. It’s disturbing to me that these things have existed in plain ass view for years but now, in 2023, people are making bank off of covering it. Gross.

is it really the number of complaints that determines whether someone has acted out of line/ is actually a predator? Whenever I hear such complaints, I always think of Jimmy Savile and how, during his active time, also only a few turned to the police and were ultimately not taken seriously. And how did that turn out in the end?! What her true motivation has been in interacting with these underage fans only she knows, but the question that bothers me is why the hell wouldn't she choose adults/ peers for her weird interactions?

I think Dr grande has been gaslit here as well. Tbh, I didn’t understand what the big deal was either until I took a deep dive, and yikes. It feels like most people would understand that some of her behaviors could be interpreted as inappropriate with children, even if she is an impulsive person. I'm confounded by Dr. Grande's take on this. She's not some martyr of cancel culture standing up to the mob. These are really serious allegations. And she doesn't even address them. Just snark & bitterness.

When I told about the sexual abuse I experienced as a kid to a therapist her response was: "Well, it happened only once". I can't even begin to explain how terrible and neglecting this was and how alone in the world I felt with my trauma. It's not very safe for mental health professionals in my opinion to downplay this kind of allegations because not enough people complained or not enough times. How much is enough people? How much is enough times? Is there a stipulated math formula that law or common sense require for it to be true that I've missed? Or is there a stipulated rate of abuses per person depending on how many people they talk to daily? I wasn't aware of that. Sometimes reality doesn't fit into theories or formulas. I know you are a rational person of facts and numbers Dr Grande, and that is why I follow you, but the matter is being avoided and it's serious. The nature of this kind of assaults makes it difficult to prove most times (although this case is an exception in that bc there are some evidences?) and this is a nightmare to victims, who are neglected by the assaulter and by society, suffering the consequences in silence. Mostly forever. I would love to see a video of yours on the topic of this kind of abuse. Maybe this case was not extreme but her actions were not appropiate and they might help normalise real contexts of abuse for others in the future. We shouldn't encourage cancel culture, but we should encourage people expressing how they felt, especialy in this topics. We need to be educated as a society in identifying this behaviour, in order to prevent possible abuse. Regardless if she was an abuser or not. Just analising the behaviour and how it made the kids feel. It's not like people that abuse others go with a sign announcing it to the world or are straightforward with their actions anyway. Or they are always stranger men offering candy outside school. They can be close to us and deceive. They mostly do deceive all the time. That is why is difficult for victims and people in general to realise what happened. Mental health professionals should take the nature and characteristics of this type of abuse seriously and not ignore it, in my opinion. I cannot be inside Colleen's head to know what her intentions were, maybe she actually didn't mean harm but, regardless of that, as a society we should be careful of this topics and not afraid of bringing them up. The next person who does this inappropriate things might have indeed bad intentions and we must learn to identify it for prevention

I love your work, but I would suggest you look into her a bit more and not ignore the abuse of children that occurred in this case. I was a bit shocked you didn’t cover that. I’m a social worker myself and clinically licensed, coming from that background I was shocked how shallow this appeared to be as an examination of her behavior. Why would you wish her well at the end? This needs to be her swan song why would you encourage a woman who just capped her bad behavior with further bad behavior? We are grown adults here and need to educate and promote the protection of children. This is not a case to downplay just because she only has a few complaints so far and she’s popular, nor a male.

Dr. Grande, I know you read the comments. I know you hear us when we speak. As a clinical psychologist you know the statistics around victims coming forward. You know most victims stay quiet. The fact that there "aren't many" complaints is irrelevant and you know it. If there are a few, there are many.

This was a really bad take. As a mental professional you failed to bring up how gaslighty her "apology" video was. She only said the words "take accountability" but actually never did. You didn't discuss the narcissistic trait of bringing herself into the light as a victim and completely ignoring those she manipulated, deceived, exploited and discarded. I'm very very disappointed in this video that lacks substance and research. I hope you look to amend this video, and learn from this. And show your viewership that you can change opinions and survive and grow from it.

I always appreciate Dr. Grande's takes on these topics. This one however- no. Clearly not all of the details were known when he made this video. Really disappointed in this take. You definitely did not do enough research, there were many other incidents. Her "apology" video mocked those she has wronged. Please revisit this topic and consider how you would react if this was an adult male acting this way towards young girls.

i love your videos dr. grande, but this isn’t accurate. for example, the “sheer lack of complaints” can be due to, as described by adam, group chats that were highly selective and cutthroat, which led to children feeling “so special” for being included. that’s textbook groomer behavior. the lack of complaints can thus be due to a) small sample size and b) trauma. colleen took advantage of her many minor fans, as miranda sings appealed to minors, emotionally, sexually, and even in terms of labor. the evidence available for what colleen did here is both extensive and appalling. i would encourage you, or anyone else who wants to learn more, to watch either cruel world happy mind’s video or paige christie’s multiple videos.

Are you aware of the full scope of the situation? The allegations are very serious and it’s all resurfacing from things that she had tried to manipulate and cover up from 2020. I think a musical response was extremely inappropriate and immature on her end

Dr. Grande, I thoroughly respect you and all of the work you do. That is exactly why I must respectfully ask if you have done all of the research on the matter that Colleen’s “apology video” is responding to? If you haven’t, please do. She groomed, manipulated, and used minors as young as 13. She asked about their favorite sex position, if they were virgins, and sent a video of her opening a tampon with her mouth in response to a kid asking for help with her period (which then became an inside joke that her & the fans used to take selfies with tampons in their mouth). She sent underwear to a minor, she hired a minor to run her social media for 3 years without paying him, used her minor fans for help with PR without paying them, trauma dumped on her minor fans, shared about her sex life with her minor fans, and used a minor’s body that was not comfortably clothed to embarrass her on stage in front of numerous adults and children, leading to that minor being cat called when leaving the venue. There’s much more too & no, this wasn’t all “many, many years ago” as she claims. I hope you look deeper into this so you can see just how horrendous and disrespectful her video response really is.

Dr. Grande, I have to be honest. I have watched you for years, your opinions have always resonated with me and your dry humor has gotten me through a lot of hard times. HOWEVER, this video is missing the entirety of the point of what happened with this woman; specifically your point about how she became famous for her inapporpriate behavior and you dont see why she would be criticized for this now. Inappropriate behavior and inappropriate behavior towards children are two completely different things. I also find it alarming how in depth your usual content is but for you to say only a "few" complaints were made is just incorrect. In conclusion, if you looked into it you would see that Adam did not ask for the underwear, she edited her livestream and if she would have played the whole thing she made comments that she was sending it to him before he ever even said anything and then admitted that his mother would most likely want him to stop watching her. Giving Dr Grande grace for not knowing just how evil she is since this vid focusses on the "apology" and skimmed over the serious actions she made. Even omitting her age at the time of the incidents is a disservice to the victims. Adults should not have any intimate contact with minors. She is not a weird Aunt, she is disgusting and predatory.

Adam did not "request" the lingerie and Colleen "eventually" sent it to him. Colleen sending it to him was her idea. it's all on camera. She was in her 30s and he was underage at the time.

Okay, I want to be open to others’ opinions about Colleen. But saying that the fact that “only a few people complained about her behavior” is a point in her favor is a little…concerning? If a celebrity, say, touched an underage fan inappropriately on camera, it would still be wrong even if that celebrity didn’t inappropriately touch anyone else. If a celebrity DMed a 14 year old and asked them sexual questions, it would still be wrong even if they didn’t DM anyone else. Those teenagers aren’t just a number, they’re human beings.

She sent her minor fans porn, she body shamed her biggest fans, she requested nudes from her minor fans, and she fails to recognize or validate how weird that made them feel. The double standard is strong on this one. If a person of the other sex would have done just a fraction of all of these horrible things, not only would they have been cancelled, they would have faced legal consequences years ago.

People are not angry about the apology video alone, or most of the things she pretends people are angry at in her song, they are angry at her very long history of very inappropriate grooming behaviors and abuses towards minors. The fake apology song is just the (long overdue) tipping point of people's outrage... though having children placing their hands inside of her pants to grab whatever she would put in there SHOULD have landed her in jail a long time ago. There is absolutely no way a grown man would ever have gotten away with a 10th of what this woman got away with when it comes to inappropriate behaviors with children. Dr Grande, you missed so much information in this video. It seems like you only watched her “apology” video and none of the accusation videos. She has said and done so many terrible things and hasn’t really apologized for anything at all. There is proof that she did a whole lot more than what she’s said she has done. Asking children in discord chats about their sex life and dumping her trauma on them is not something that I would say was just trying to be ‘besties’ with her fans. She was like 31 when this crap happened. If this was crap that a man had pulled off the situation would’ve been dealt with a whole lot differently. She made the dog bite her by being mean to it and then laughed when it got put down. Her 'fans' in chat groups were all minors. The yoga/fart incident exposed the fans underwear and targeted her for harassment as she was leaving, she was also only 16. She continued to manipulate her audience by downplaying the accusation and only addressing how it impacted her. There's literally video/photographic evidence proving her repeated inappropriate behavior. Oh, and she purposely targeted Adam with harassment, using her fans to make comments and videos about him. She enforces body checking in her apology video by addressing her 'bony little back' and wearing a tank top that displayed her visible bone structure and tiny frame.

This is probably the most watered down telling of what colleen has done.... really expected better from this channel.

One small detail- it wasn’t that Adam requested the lingerie. If you watch the full clip from that livestream, it was Colleen and her other friend’s idea to send it to him. They were joking about it and asked him if he wanted it. Now that he’s older, he’s said he only said yes because he wanted the personally written note from Colleen that would be sent with it.

Everyone just found out she was having inappropriate conversations with her 13 14 year old fans in a group chat. She did this for years. That’s not being just a loser, that’s being a creep.

I find your thoughts on this situation really interesting. It makes sense that she would make a song considering it seems that most of her audience is young and she's being accused of some pretty harsh things. Turning it into a catchy ukulele song just lightens up the whole situation - until you remember what she's being accused of. There are screenshots of her asking children for pictures of themselves, she asked children personal and sexual questions, she brought children on stage and had them put their hands down their pants in front of a crowd, etc. For her to sing a cheery song that essentially just says "you're wrong and I'm right, but you're the internet so you'll never listen to me anyway!" is completely cringeworthy. These are serious accusations, and any Regular Joe without a huge following would likely get in legal trouble for this innapropriate contact with children. It's safe to assume that if an innocent person were being accused of this kind of stuff, they would provide evidence to support their innocence rather than just talk about the lack of facts in peoples' decision making. How can we "mind the gaps" if she won't fill them for us? This woman is really trying to use Bardic Inspiration to distract her audience from her past decisions and her lack of exonerating evidence.

I’ve watched and been massively entertained and informed by this channel for the last three+ years. My own thoughts and opinions typically align with Dr. Grande’s - on the occasions when I don’t draw the same conclusions that he does, I respect and appreciate the information that he’s shared which led to his final thoughts on whatever the topic at hand might be. However , I think he’s grossly missed the mark with this one. While I agree with some of his shares about cancellation culture and it’s repercussions in general, I greatly disagree with how much grace he’s allowing Colleen with both her past indiscretions as well as how she’s chosen to address the rather damning evidence/accusations that have come to light here recently. I’m not sure if he’s under-informed, or if he truly believes that her offenses are worthy of being wholly forgiven and that she is deserving of leniency, but my view of the situation is quite different and I can’t help but think, if the sexes were flipped - if a man had done what she’s being accused of, the cancellation would have been swift and very much so warranted.

It’s very interesting that her little “oopsy” of engaging in alarmingly inappropriate behavior with minors - while in her 30’s mind you, at which point you really need to know better than to commiserate with teens about sex positions- is so easily dismissed. She didn’t know where the boundaries were? This isn’t so much about navigating the waters of fame as navigating adulthood. And a passive aggressive attack on anyone calling her out, while dismissing the confusion and pain caused to her young fans, is wrong. I am also a full grown adult with teenagers and can tell you I found out this crap was going on - whether on the internet, school, church with ANY adult - there would be words. Just saying…

My son used to watch her Miranda Sings videos, and I told him then that something about her wasn't right. I told him I didn't want him wasting brain cells on her nonsense. He got mad at me, but he complied. When this story came out, I showed it to him. He shook his head and said mom, you were right.

It's a bit odd that you neglect to make it clear that all of these sexual interactions were with *children* . You keep saying "with fans", these fans she exploited for sexual banter, sexually charged on stage actions, for free labor... they were all children. Also, you say there are "so few" incidences. I think you need to review all of the material. There has been great work done by some major media researching the complaints - see Huff Post, NBC, Time Mag, Rolling Stone. They make it bit more clear that there is a long history of this behavior from Colleen and frankly, in the history of Internet scandal, there is never been so much irrefutable evidence - video, voice recordings, DMs, texts, group chat logs... I'm sorry, I have to ask - if in the course of your work you came across someone with a long history of exploiting children...would you even report it?

I guess I should have known this would be more about the evils of "cancel culture" than analyzing a creeper who never has apologized or taken responsibility for the worst of her actions.

I'm interested to hear how Dr G would counsel the victims. Would he tell them it wasn't a big deal because she "took accountability"? That they should just get over it because cancel culture is worse than them experiencing hugely inappropriate interactions with someone they looked up to? I think I’ve been watching our good doctor too closely as of late.. starting to notice a few of his hang ups… like this whole cancel culture thing… anyway I’m surprised and not surprised that he didn’t mention the worst of the allegations like asking a minor to send pictures of their butt… I think it could be thou that he really isn’t familiar with her and the whole thing going on and since she mentioned a few of his hangups and had a catchy melody he now finds himself on the wrong side of the picket line.. these daily uploads (sometimes more then one a day) don’t allow room for much research. hi dr. grande big fan here i’d like to clear up some misinformation you mentioned in this video. adam did not initiate the lingerie exchange (even if he did, he was a minor and that request would have been denied by any right minded adult), colleen actually offered it first thinking it would be “funny” especially if his parents found out. i think it would benefit you to watch adams’ multiple videos explaining his side instead of regurgitating false information spread by colleen. hope this helps

it’s not “cancel culture”. it’s misdemeanors and felonies.

You know, I get that you're only responding to this one video and I can agree that it shouldn't be classified as an apology video. But in this "attack on cancel culture" she is making fun of and invalidating the trauma that her victims experienced. It literally dossn't matter how many people come forward, 1 is still too many. I think it's also really important to recognize that the people coming forward were literal MINORS when all of this happened. Not only was there a clear age power dynamic, but there was a power dynamic of these children looking up to someone they adored. It probably took time to come to terms and process that what they experienced was inappropriate and was grooming. Taking so long to come forward can also be due to the fear of the influence she had and the public opinion of her at the time. It might have taken time to understand that what they experienced wasn't okay until later on when their brains develop more and more life experienced was gained. Grooming doesn't always have to mean sexual in nature. She still exploited children for entertainment and monetery gain. She caused trauma in people's lives and that should never be taken lighly or excused. Her "slapping back" at people who are victims of her exploitation with a musical number isn't artistic and foreward-thinking. It's insensitive and completely ignoring the hurt that she has genuinely caused to people who have asked for acknowledgment and apologies. A video analyzing something like this shouldn't have been made without further research and understanding of what the claims really are. Cancel culture shouldn't be commended, but people who have genuinely done terrible things shpuld be called out and criticized no matter how late in the game it is. The middle ground should not be taken on every single person if the context behind the scenes is being hidden or intentionally glossed over by the perpetrator. This is a very distasteful take and opinion that can be especially dangerous to those who are uninformed and/or want further fire to be used against those who are coming forward. It doesn't matter what the intention was. A predator is still a predator.

Yikes for downplaying how boundaries were vi0lated. Edit: there are plenty of other videos of people that researched into Collen's shady behavior and that go into detail about it. I'm not going to write a whole paragraph about the matter.

This isn't simply a situation of "I made a mistake and now people won't stop harassing me." Colleen caters her content towards children and puts on live shows for them where she frequently engages in physically inappropriate behavior. The yoga skit is only a portion of this. She also invites young boys on stage and asks them to take food from her pants by reaching their hands in her waistband. If this one a one off thing, then okay. But it's a pattern of behavior with her. Perhaps I missed it, but I don't recall you touching on the power imbalance between Colleen and her fans. This makes it increasingly difficult for children (as if it isn't difficult enough) to voice what they are and are not comfortable with.

I usually enjoy your videos but this is completely tone deaf. You need to do a bit more research on the story. When the first person came out he was attacked by the internet. Big creators came after him and he endured all types of threats and had to contact the police. This only came back up because someone else came out and shared a bunch of information and evidence that he wasn’t lying. Trying to balance out how many videos she has to only a few complaints doesn’t even make sense. It’s what she was doing in the background when adults weren’t looking.

I watched earlier, this “apology” is such a non apology and rather narcissistic imo. Casting the blame, far and wide….ie blaming social toxicity. If you mess up face it and admit your wrongs. The video seems like it wasn’t made by an actual adult but someone that never grew up, someone that never heard no. Makes me kinda angry, blaming everything/everyone but yourself. Her own dog was put down because of her lie and she told it like a funny tale from her life. She is a creep and has said and done many disturbing things throughout her career. Her channel has never been kid friendly and I hope her career is over now.

She has been exposed to have had multiple private chat rooms / DM interactions with minors where she talked about sexual stuff over a long period of time. She also has always been aware that the main demographic of people watching her videos are kids. I don't understand how you can just write all of that stuff off as "she has so much content who cares if she has had multiple instances of inappropriate interactions with children."

I took this on face value when I watched it - why should a woman apologise for being a pervert? This is crazy. I’d never heard of Colleen or this fandom but with all the kind but different opinions to Dr Grande I found myself looking into it and what a rabbit hole I went down! It looks to me that Colleen not only used her fans for emotional support, ego boost and of course financial gain, she is at least guilty of using their ideas without credit or recompense, speaking to them inappropriately and gaslighting them to cover her (boney little) back. I’m convinced she deliberately set Adam up by giving him the password to her account, she wanted the controversy but not the blame, he was a child and she threw him to the wolves, it was her plan all along. The love-bombing to get him to do her dirty work is classic narc abuse & I’m sure there’s a court case here for several victims. From everything I’ve discovered, from a pov of not being on any ‘side’ whatsoever, it’s clear that Colleen is an incredibly intelligent manipulator and as cunning as she is ruthless. I would urge everyone, especially young people, to avoid her for their own good. I think she could be one of the very rare kind of aware narcissists & they are very, very dangerous.

Dr Grande you negelected to metion how, after her 1st apology video she was behind the scenes getting her minions to defame Adam to make herself look good. Thats not a changed person. By your logic, if a teacher interacted with many many children during their career, and only one came forward saying the teacher asked if they were a virgin, asked about their fav position, and vented about their divorce and husband's penis size, well, its just one kid out of a whole bunch, so its ok.
