There are extended injustices in different aspects of production life and the people who own the broadway industry in itself were so silent on critical issues that support these actors, cast members, and crew members during the pandemic. Their well-being and livelihoods were at stake.

what i'm confused about is that no one else in the moulin rouge cast is talking? If the producer was the issue i'm certain they'd all have the means to boycott or at least speak up

I would COMPLETELY support this choice...had he been an ACTUAL producer on her SHOW!!!!! But he wasn't soooooo this meant nothing.

Why isn’t she looking at the source of the problem? There are no black writers. Writers write what they know. If you want more black characters get more black writers.
@watermelon520b
@watermelon520b 2 года назад
they never want to do that sadly. all that black writers get pushed off to the chitlin circuit.

TRust me, companies do TRY and want to but my company went all female playwrights one season and they lost their shirts that year.
@citizenx4026

@@unprocessed_life Unfortunately, you can’t control the outcome. You can only encourage opportunities. Maybe glorify writing to black youth so they are interested in it in the first place. Equality of opportunity not outcome is the only way. As in any art form or industry, the best work will get the most attention. As long as the people you are trying to speak to are interested. Wish we could just snap our fingers and even the playing field as far as quality in work. But that takes work and God given talent. We can’t control who has it. We can only supply the opportunities where we can. But the biggest thing we need to accept is that theatre is successful based on how it does in ticket sales. It’s a business. Supply and demand will be the deciding factor for ticket sales. Nothing we can do about that except look for work that speaks to the most people (who pay to see it).

@@citizenx4026 Not being able to control outcome is not an unfortunate thing. I'm all for equal opportunity, but not enforced equal outcome ... for ANY race, color, creed, gender, or anything. Forced equal outcome cheapens things.
@citizenx4026

@@cloudambient totally agree. It is the only way to grow as an art form. May the best work win.

Sounds about right. They still haven’t fixed The Book of Mormon. It is 2021 about to 2022 and it is important to recognize there are black mormons as well NOT ONLY white Mormons. Also when blacks are included in the show they are on stage bare foot and in rags. There is nothing wrong with an update which doesn’t mean it has to be completely changed but it is NOT cute at all.
@scorpioninpink

Are people still watching the show? If the answer is yes then they are not gonna fix whatever it is the problem.
@SC-tn5id
@SC-tn5id 2 года назад
@@scorpioninpink Lol well of course white people are still buying tickets to look at other white people being the hero and savior of “savages”. Never-mind the countless race issues with cops and other diversity/inclusion things that have been highlighted over numerous times specifically over the past 2 years. The mere fact that there is a subject and profession called diversity/inclusion in a 1st world country that’s foundation is diverse is a problem in itself. It shouldn’t be needed.

@@Parker-930 I do agree that there isn't a problem with The Book of Mormon at all.
@oliveyim5216
@oliveyim5216 Год назад
I get what you mean but I think the point of the Book of Mormon is to highlight the absurdity of missionaries and the idea that people need saving. The whole point is to show how detached the white Mormons are from the harsher sides of life. In America, racism will affect you no matter what and it would be harder to really pinpoint how sheltered the missionaries are. And also, it is designed to be a satire.
