I've been putting coffee grounds in my compost bin for YEARS! It's definitely helpful!

Your absolutely right. I knew it was good for the compost pile but after the research I did for the last two videos I also found out it's good for amending clay soil. Gret comment and thanks for watching.

Good old common sense and experimenting. I've used coffee grinds in my compost of leaves, horse manure, kitchen scraps, grass and fresh green leave clippings for 40 years. My garden soil is such a good quality I rarely use fertilizer and have great success with what I choose to grow. Yes, do your research, but don't be intimidated by information overload. Keep up the good videos.

Hey everybody, I wanted to give you some facts about coffee grounds. I did make a mistake. Used coffee grounds have 3 to 7 mg of caffeine per gram compared to 12 mg per gram of fresh grounds. Not per cup as I said in the video. Thanks for watching.

My grandma used coffee grounds in her compost all the time for over 80 years (she passed at 3 weeks short of her 100th birthday), and used old, cold, leftover coffee about once every 6 weeks to "water" her African violets to help counteract the alkali in the hard tap water she used to water them.

I remember one year . I would be push mowing and my brother would bring me out a cold beer. I’d take a couple swigs and keep going . It would be warm when I was finished so I dumped it in my flower bed in one spot. My flowers were beautiful. I started dumping it down the beds. People would stop and take pictures.! The plants became massive and awesome blooms some got about 5 ft. High.

Worms grow fat on coffee grounds. I told a co-worker this, and he put a plastic bucket by the coffeemaker at work, asking to save coffee grounds for a worm bed. At that time, our coffee came in a filter packet. One of our co-workers added a note to save tea bags for worm pillows.
@anthonylawrence9307

When I was a kid, I sold worms. I had the liner out of an old freezer. I filled it with soil out of the garden that the worms were actually coming from. That was probably about one yard and I would add three 10 cup pots of coffee grounds every day. When I put the grounds in I would mix it with the soil. I had some beautiful worms and crawlers.
@jonbussey5353
@jonbussey5353 Год назад
That's really cool. Did you ever change the dirt so the worm castings could go in the garden?
@anthonylawrence9307
@anthonylawrence9307 Год назад
@@jonbussey5353 Yes. Just into fall (NH) I would carefully remove half the soil. I would also mix the soil at the bottom as when you have the worms I did it was tough getting to the bottom. I then would refill with new garden soil and mix. Inspite of living where I did my garden was very nice. I would go fishing every day from open season to end season. All my fish waste went into the garden. A lot of my gardening came from my grandfather and father. Figure now I'm 67 and teaching my son.

Worms love them & worms are good for my trees & bushes so this = a net gain to soil. I don't need measurements on PH. The worms do the work. Coffee grounds are worm feed & I like to feed worms.

Great information on Coffee grounds. As an old time gardener being as old as dirt, I have used the grounds in my compost for decades added with ashes to spread lightly in the garden area and around fruit trees. I also use a method of ElectroCulture that I've been using for decades to improve my yields. I have a RU-vid channel as well if you want to see how I use ElectroCulture. Thanks for the video!

I might be totally wrong but after I let it set for a day or so the water is about the color of a weak tea so I would have to think something is getting in there. With all due respect I don't use hot water when I steep rabbit manure and it works.
