Oh boy, you've got the patience of a saint with FSD. Testers like you should get paid by Tesla! I really appreciate what you're doing, and that you're even sharing that stuff on RU-vid! 🙏
Unfortunately, that does as much good as putting a correction on an article without changing the headline. Everyone had already pulled the clip and circulated it. No one read the comment (or did and chose to ignore it).
I think it's more likely that the car knows you'll have to walk around it to get into the driver's seat anyway, so it stops in front to make that easier.
In the early versions, I had a guy that may not have noticed there's no driver, but when it stopped in front of me and I hopped in the driver's seat, he was quite confused. My companions and I got in all 4 seats and I drove my passengers to their car in the parking lot. The guy followed me and just sat and watched. Lol. It was great.
@@techgeektesla This clip ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MwGh16XBNeI.htmlsi=FgzRkEjLW2n6yJ_l shows my first FSD v12.5.4 ASS attempt with my 2024 MYP this morning. Oh btw not sure if your HW3 car folded both side mirrors like the way my HW4 car did just before it started its come-to-me journey. And the car's display showing very different graphics than your HW3 car operating under FSD v12.5.3 ASS.
It reverses a little bit at first to get a better idea of what's in front of it, since the forward facing camera can't see what's directly in front of the bumper.
It's more like 90% better, I'd never dare to use smart summon in a Costco parking lot. It was often unusable for navigating simple places even (only reliable for pulling straight in / out of a parking space IMO).
Good one, as usual. Your camera setup really shines here. I'd vote for no music while you're talking. Would I use at Costco? Only if I needed to, and I can't think of any situation where I'd need to.
FSD obviously has everything it needs to be more than successful in a parking lot. I feel that there just making this extra extra extra cautious given no one is behind the wheel.
Glad I read you pinned post. I thought I was subscribed but I wasn't! Am now :). Appreciate your videos. I always notice the love you put into them. Thanks and keep it up!
How confident I am to test this at a Costco parking lot? 2 out of 10. I have a 22 model S, smart summon on that car and what I saw on your video are pretty similar. It’s not ready yet.
Thanks for being honest about the longgg HW3 prep time for the car to start its journey in Actually Smart Summon operation. So far the other ASS testers (HW3 and HW4) have been silent on their cars' prep time!
i wonder if this will work in indoor car park? how about multi-storey carpark? can i use it if i am on different level of car park than the car is parked but it is within radius
I have a 2022 HW3 Model Y with USS and it's Smart Summon feature doesn't look much different than these videos. Seems it took two years for this new non-USS capable Smart Summon just to reach parity with what I already have.
I am not impressed by this given the hype and time to release it. Man, if 2-3 people were using this in the same parking lot, it would lock up traffic flow for the whole store.
Between auto-park and ASS, the obvious killer app is to drive the car to your destination, get out, the car goes and finds a parking place, and parks. When you're finished, you summon it and it picks you up. I wonder how long that'll be?
It's not quite there yet. My wife just said this will make people hate Teslas. I have to agree, it's like some sort of anti advertisement for the time being. I'd be so embarrassed to use this in a busy parking lot.
@matt277771 I do think they need to fix the abrupt stops or long prepare time. But if you think it's way too slow, then you drive a bit reckless in parking lots. Nobody should go faster than about 8 mph really, so it going 6 is good.
14:20 i wonder if this is intentional, as the driver needs to walk around the car anyways to get to the driver seat. Gps margin of error could honestly be an issue too. I imagine a future where you can scan your face and it parks perfectly for you every time, then, if you get taken, it can hunt for you like liam neeson
6:10: It's obviously a problem... It should know from the pathing if it's going to hit a curb or not. Waiting until it's already next to the curb and then violently braking, unnecessarily, is bad. Man, those people in the 1st test were incredibly patient with you. Making a driver sit behind your car for 12 seconds is pretty rude... 17:17 & 20:16 weird it stopped for the one it wasn't going to hit but didn't stop for these apparently closer approaches. I don't understand why it seems to be running a different model than FSD. They definitely made it too afraid of pedestrians and that violent stop near curbs is terrible.
2:22 in Europe the leash is 50cm or not even 2ft… I have to stand next to my front wheel drivers side and it stops when my bumper passes me while reversing on my driveway… USELESS (paid for FSD in2021)
In UK (also i US) SS (Beta) malfunction had caused some Tesla customers some thousands of dollars deep hole to their wallet. Tesla has too good legaleze on their Beta features: not Tesla or the insurance companies are going to cover any damages.
It really needs to not just come to a complete stop in the middle of maneuvers. Its still cringe when it does that and I had such high hopes after seeing AI drivers videos
I can’t wait until these are blocking crazy busy mall parking lots during the holidays. Insurance companies are going to raise rates and I bet the government will nerf this
stuff like this is really going to piss off the general public. i understand the point of this video but you know there are probably 50 other guys using smart summon in a busy parking lot just to film it and blocking traffic
It's almost looks like the car slams on brakes 100% and sets the parking brake. Needs some work on those edge cases (literally lol). One step closer...
Also, aparently the ASS system is on the same stack as FSD 12.5. When you watch this is really weird it doesnt behave so much like if you were using FSD in the parking lot.
Crazy that you are willing to take responsibility for the cars actions even when you’re not behind the wheel. Tesla should cover it if there’s no driver. Maybe only release this feature to people that have 1st Party Tesla Insurance.
I’m glad I’m not behind this tesla or I would have gone out all pissed off!! This will make others hate Teslas! I don’t have the patience for this shit show. It still needs improvement. It acts the same as it was before when I had my 2022 LR.
I have a 2020 Tesla Model 3 it is a full self-driving vehicle I do not trust it and I will never trust it. It has problems this driving from point A to point B
Horrible on multiple levels. It's failing on some basic tasks, just like FSD always does at some point, but at least I'm there to take over. Don't trust it 100% to be autonomous around people. This should be shut down by NHTSA, etc.
Sorry, just don't feel like you're being objectively critical to call these successful tests. The car was a nuisance on multiple tests interfering with normal traffic flow because it couldn't prepare in a reasonable amount of time (1-3sec) after that amount of time other drivers choose to do weird things to go around.
I’m not comfortable using it in a busy parking lot. Once I was at Walmart and it took off like somebody was driving it but then Karen’s started chasing it with cameras the police showed up and with all the commotion it stopped and I had to do the walk of shame while being yelled at by a cop lol it works flawless when in an empty parking lot
Watching this video I have to admit my hopes of having some ASS next week are are a bit dashed... Obviously incredibly impressive what it's doing, but it seems to have a few issues currently.
That's how most techs start. Good with a few issues. Just like how fsd is today. Give the Tesla team a few iteration and nobody would be going towards their Tesla at Costco's anymore
This is awful. The sheer amount of embarrassment you have to go through during busy time is crazy. Not excited at all seeing the tests. Thank you for this.
@@enoughofthis yep! Finally at 48,800 miles on these tires. I was hoping to get to 50k miles, but winter is going to beat me. 😂 I already have the new set in my garage. Good eye spotting this. 😳😝
@@chickenp7038 thankfully I have another vehicle and not putting a huge amount of travel on this one, never driving in wet or snowy conditions. These tires are toast. Thanks so much for your concern. 🫶🙏
Dude, you giving all of us Tesla owners a bad name by testing this product in the middle of a crowded area. This product is just to slow where you could be annoying the hell out of everybody else, and non Tesla owner will give every Tesla owner the finger. Stop being so arrogant and think it is all about you!!!! Use some common sense, I don’t want to return to my Tesla and find that it’s scratched up because someone thinks that all Tesla owners are out testing a unproven new technology. Find an uncrowned area to do this testing please!!!!
This is a really garbage feature of it shuts down in the middle of a parking lot and takes a minute to restart. I understand how difficult it is to get this right but still
agree, it isnt "smart" to stop from phantom collisions and then not move for 10 seconds blocking traffic. I bought FSD outright but looks like Im waiting for the next version.
Gotta be honest, I don’t think you should have said each run was successful so far 😅 It worked, but clearly had multiple issues each go. I have a 2024 M3P and have only used it in my apartment and work parking lots which are not very busy and haven’t had an issue other than my connection dropping out once and it refused to reconnect (I blame that on shitty ATT connections) Tried it in a Target parking lot and it worked really well until it had to pull up to the front where it kept inching up instead of just stopping the summon because I was right next to it. I think they need to improve the detection of when to stop early if you’re next to it and 100% make it a bit more assertive. Lots of waiting when most people would expect you to go.
Let's call it Alternatively Smart Summon for now :) I'm not wildly impressed after 2 years. And it is risky to let the car drive on its own although seeing the cameras helps a little but still. Funny concept but not there yet.
