Jaehyun is so great. His tone is to die for such as his lower register. It's so velvety and smooth like chocolate. He is definitely a warm tone vocalist. He should be more utilized in NCT127's discography. The third best vocalist of NCT 127 imo.
I always say that it’s disappointing that Keeho is mainly known among Kpop stans for being a funny gen Z meme rather than being known as an incredible vocalist. His vocal tone is stunning and he does jazzy/r&b songs like no other Kpop vocalist I’ve heard. He’s a funny, charismatic guy for sure, but respect his skill along with that!
blaming FNC because maybe if they tried to cultivate a wider audience for them instead of just touring 24/7, maybe people other than just pieces would know this😭
Originally I came across him on a kpop tiktok compilation and ofc I found him funny, but as I started to get into the group more and I heard him SING!! OML I was like 🤯 this man is ridiculously talented. And I honestly agree that it's disappointing that people focus more on his humor than his vocals.
@@namjinsmoonchildren3219 Yeah, like people have definitely gotten into p1h because they found him funny and decided to look into the group, which is great! But then you look at the average “best 4th gen male vocalists” type posts/videos and he just gets completely overlooked almost every time. People gotta learn to appreciate talent! 🥲
Thank you for talking about Jaehyun... I feel like a lot of people forget about his beautiful vocals :( And also nice to hear about the other idols on this list :D
YESSSSS OML! I feel like people don't acknowledge him because he's in the same group as vocal icons Jonghyun, Onew and Taemin; some people don't like his voice too. Kibum is a very underappreciated vocalist.
I was shocked when I first heard Keeho sing when the group debuted. It’s crazy how good he sounds just on a casual live stream AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON WHEN P1HARMONY GO LIVE TOGETHER AND HARMONISE 😍
I'll add one: Cravity's Woobin. Easily among the best vocalist of the 4th gen. Cravity as a group is so underrated as a whole and he didn't get enough recognition he deserved.
We as a community do not talk about Starship vocalists enough! Sure, Liz and sometimes Yujin get mentioned a decent amount because of how popular IVE is. But Boyfriend, Sistar, Monsta X, WJSN, and Cravity are no slouches either!
@@Nameless_mixes Starship vocalists are so damn good at what they are doing it's honestly amazing that they can pretty much square up to SM in terms of quality. They need way more recognition in that regards.
San has great techniques and is a great vocalist, you didn't include his vocals where he truly shone!... his covers for instance. its true that his performance and his charisma on stage overpower his vocals! he is an incredible artist with incredible dance and vocal skills
Nayeon and Eunbi 💚 two of my faves. I would also add Chuu! I saw her live, and she has zero need for a backing track or anything. Her ad libs were excellent as well
There’s a good few Loona vocalists who deserve to be taken more seriously. Haseul, obviously is great, Chuu is as well, but one of the ones that shocked me on redebut is Heejin. I’m not familiar with Loona or their voices, but on her solo album she shot straight up into the territory of my bias because her voice sounded SO good.
I'm glad you talked about keeho! His vocals are definitely overlooked because he's mostly seen as the sassy and funny member of p1harmony (and he became popular because of it) but he's an incredibly competent vocalist and people should acknowledge his skills more. I think Theo (from the same group) is also an underrated vocalist. The way he projects his voice is great. His voice is powerful especially when he's singing ballads or ost like songs. Theo and Keeho are definitely one of my fav vocalists in 4th gen and they would sure be greater in the future if they continue to improve their voices. Since we're on the topic of p1harmony, I'd also say Jiung's singing is good too and he really fits pop songs. You should watch that vlive of them with Jiung, Theo, and Keeho just singing a bunch of songs and harmonizing with each other it's so pleasant to listen to. It really shows how distinct and unique each of their voices are. TLDR: p1harmony is such an underrated group and they're full of talented people in both singing, dancing, and rapping
omg yes !! i appreciate that u mentioned the other members as well. they all have such unique voices that they all excel in different genres like keeho in rnb, theo in ballads, and jiung in pop songs. their recent album showcases this too bcus i found that i loved keeho's voice in late night calls, theo's voice in love story, and jiung's voice in i see u the most ! their harmonies are to die for as well. they're def not called p1harmony for nothing 😭
@moonlightespt1946 oh i despise the way kpop fans analyse vocals. They literally see an idol with idk D+ or whatever and asume that they're the next vocal prodigy in kpop
I agree with everyone on this list especially Jaehyun because I absolutely love his voice. I remember first getting into NCT and immediately falling for his voice first. I was thinking that same thing maybe because it is because he is in a group with so many amazing vocalist and in his unit many fans do tend to point out Taeil and Doyoung's voice's a lot as many other members and praise them for how beautiful they sound which they do because I love all of them it's just I see fewer ppl appreciate Jaehyun's vocals. I know some do. I'm one of those ppl I just do see it as much for him as other members. which is upsetting because he is truly an amazing vocalist. He can definitely hold his own more than enough. I also can't wait for his solo album that comes out soon. I think it's supposed to be in August. Anyways I usually don't comment a lot but I had to just put this out here. Great video I really enjoyed it 🥰
He has some solo music videos out there, so he hasn’t exactly been hiding. Plus, he’s so handsome that some people are too busy staring at him to pay attention to what comes out of his mouth. 😂 I think he’s terrific at pretty much everything, so the idea that he’s underrated at anything is almost laughable to me, and yet I understand how others can feel that way.
another underrated vocalist i really appreciate is zerobaseone's zhang hao. his voice is not overly powerful, but his control (especially over his lower register) is impressive he has a very bright tone and his technique is highly developed, he even taught other trainees during boys planet when they were struggling with vocalization
I second that and I would also say Heesung from Enhypen would be also an underrated vocalist. I also think Jungwon (ex-SM trainee) is also not that bad. Surely all three are not the best vocalist out there but througly impressive with their actual skills. And if the work hard I also think the would improve a lot.
When I first listened to P1H live I was shocked at how amazing Keeho’s voice was because I literally never see people rank him with the best male vocalists in the 4th! But he’s easily one of the best, seriously talented guy 🔥
its baffling to me tbh that San is still considered an undarrated vocalist when i always thought that he has one of the most beautiful tones ive ever heard and he made a lot of progress vocally (in my opinion) from debut. If you just listen to songs like Utopia, Turbulance, Still here or just the killing voice performance you can hear how amazing he is
Jaehyun is such a good singer. I was super impressed by his cover of Can't Take My Eyes off You. Part of the reason he is so overlooked, I think, is because he does a good bit of rapping and that's probably how a lot of people see him. If you do another video like this, I suggest Xiaojun of WayV. Xiaojun is an amazing vocalist who is rarely talked about. I would also love to see you talk about Yonghoon from Onewe. Onewe is a band so maybe you might not want to talk about him in the same video with regular Kpop groups, but he is an excellent vocalist who deserves more attention.
I already wrote it on the community post, but I'll repeat. I think Jooyeon and Jungsu of Xdinary Heroes are very underrated. Most 4th gen male vocalists can't produce even vibrato consistently, but Jooyeon does. It's a shame not many people know about Xdinary Heroes.
@@zorasbae Yeah, I'd say that's one reason. But at the same time, Xdinary Heroes and JYP very much consider themselves an idol group. They go on variety shows, music shows, and do everything idols do, except for dancing. So I wish they would be included in K-pop discussions since they are K-pop in every way other than playing instruments instead of dancing.
I thought for ages Jaehyun was a rapper in NCT cos I only knew him from 2 Baddies and Ay-yo so I thought people were bullshitting when they put him top 5 in vocals in all of NCT, I have since learned 😭
Unfortunately, he doesn’t get a lot of lines befitting of a main vocalist in their title tracks. He gets better ones that suit his voice on their B-sides.
I’ve always believed that it’s not how many lines you have, it’s the impact you make with those lines. Jaehyun leads the bridge on “2 Baddies,” and while it’s just one line, he sounds impressive.
Suho and xiumin sadly are definitely underrated , like suho can SING SING to musical to indie rock to pop to ballad he Is really skilled , and xiumin too he is so agile
I was also expecting for Xiumin to be on the list! I think Suho gets a fair bit of recognition as a vocalist (despite not as much as Baekhyun, Chen and D.O), but Xiumin is criminally underrated. EXO’s Killing Voice did a good job of highlighting how his voice is so very important on their songs, even when he’s supporting the others and not actually on his own.
Can't say I'm not a little disappointed that none of my picks made it in 😅 I would love it if you made this a regular series and featured older vocalists that have continued to improve but are no longer are in mainstream kpop, especially because due to the circles I run in, except San, none of these I would consider underrated. Always rooting for my girl Solji!!
Yea and also THE BOYZ are CRIMINALLY UNDERATED. 😢😢 Sangyeon,New,Jacob,Kevin,Q,Hyunjae, yunghoon all are best vocalist. Even THIER rappers Sunwoo,Eric,Juyeon,Hankyeon can be Lead Or Main vocalist. So Sad They Are Not Here. 😮😮😢😢
I think it's more on the fact that their vocals are often overlooked and overshadowed. I'd consider keeho and san really underrated when it comes to vocals. I think Nayeon and Eunbi are the only ones here that aren't that underrated especially in vocals a lot has praised them over the years and they were popular partly because of their vocals
@@BSMutebi-uk3hi like why i think they are THERE SONGS OFTEN DOESNT HAVE ANY VOCAL PARTS but in watch it you have seen jacobs high hote and in almost all songs sanghyeon high notes AT LEAST NOT ALL MEMBERS BUT NEW,SANGHEON,JACOB
These people are very charismatic and talented! and they have unique vocal tones! I must say tho, Seoho from Oneus and A.C.E members are criminally underrated vocalists too...no one ever mentions them in this kind of videos.
So glad Kwon Eunbi is here. Her mix is pretty good and her songs are always difficult to sing, requiring a ton of high belting and stamina. One thing I'd wish she would work on is putting more strength and effort into her live singing. She kinda looks and sounds like what I did when I first learned about minimizing tension and strain, which is trying to relax TOO much to the point where you lose control of your vocal cords and become slightly flat or messy on the note changes.
I think more people need to listen to Ateez' ballads. Like Mist? San kills it. Be With You? He's incredible. I think most non-atiny only know the mv songs and that makes sense, those are popular because they have mvs, but they do have a large amount of vocally-driven songs that let their abilities shine
Yes San!! His outstanding performance skills are often talked about but we really should start giving him his flowers because his outstanding vocal skills
And there's still ppl today that didn't know keeho is a vocalist, we need more ppl to hear those yummy vocals. Lmao I just read a comment yesterday they thought he was rapper of the grp this whole time or didn't even know he could sing. I wish more ppl cared abt his abilities
@@ayakohaIt’s subjective. And being the best in your group could still mean you’re underrared if a lot of the public doesn’t know your group as well as some others. It’s hard for a lot of 3rd gen male vocalists to shine because the conversation is often dominated by EXO-Ls being arrogant and Armys being biased (I love both EXO and BTS, but there are so many other great male vocalists outside of those two groups lol)
If you make another video can I suggest Sungjin from Day6 :) with their recent killing voice I think more people have really come around and realized just how good he is!
there’s definitely a lot of underrated singers among the 4th gen bgs, mainly bc the most popular ones (e.g. skz, txt, enhypen) don’t exactly have a rep for good vocals, which is why people like keeho or woobin from cravity, seunghun from cix get overlooked, bc their groups aren’t as popular.
Yes. And that is where the issue lies. TXT has nice vocalists, but most of the time, I am questioning why i am not listening to them on mute. Like they have good vocals, but none that can make me feel the music. And Deja Vu showed me exactly why And don't even get me started on SKZ, because....no just no. One day they give you okay, and the next is a different story. Maybe its because if the signature nasal JYP custom voices that they are ingrained with. For enhypen, nah....as much as people like coming for the HYBE girls for their vocals, people should also look at the boys too.
@@donttalk372 I have issues with all 3 of these groups vocals icl, txt well their songs are so damn high, taehyun be straining more often then not but he’s still the backbone of that group vocally, yeonjun has a nice tone and yk what it work when he isn’t pushed out of his range but he’s not great either. Beomgyus voice is low and kpop just doesn’t train anyone who isn’t a tenor and with the songs txt sings no wonder he struggles, they either smother his voice with weird effects and wonder why he doesn’t pull off them off live or they just give him no lines. Hybes vocal processing is weird they try to make all the members sound as similar as possible so the track runs smoothly, but i enjoy hearing the different quality in ppls voices. Same thing with enhypen. If you watch this creators vocalist who need training/help series, it features taehyun, jungwon, heeseung, Jay and it’s not hard to see why. Now with skz the nasally thing really does bother me icl but I forced myself to get over it bc most male kpop vocalists tend to sound that way (it still gets to me sometimes tho), especially with seungmin, and ik he’s their best vocalist but I prefer Hans voice bc even tho he’s not as skilled he’s way less nasally and his tone is nice to listen to, which i never get to hear bc he’s the rapper so whatever. I.N whos their lead vocalist has a really thin/small vocal which pisses me off bc he’s part of their vocal unit aren’t you supposed to be really good, like how’s your vocal unit have such hard to listen to voices (seungmin and i.n) Chan suffers from the nasal thing too even tho him and seungmin remain consistent with what they deliver vocally, both pretty stable when live so I’ll give props to them for that. Plus i feel like most ppl aren’t as bothered by it as I am and it help that half their songs verses are filled with rap, as opposed to txt and enhypen who are mostly singing so it’s way easier to see txt/enhypens flaws
@@zorasbae you make valid points. People allow TXT, ENHYPEN and SKZ to get away with being vocally challenged since most of the music has raps, auto tune and because they are big. However, why is it that they let the boys get away with all this mediocrity while continuously sh!tting on IVE, LSF and illit for being vocally challenged too.
@@donttalk372 I think it’s bc gg stans are their own biggest haters. I stan both but bgs stans are more rivalry type and most of them stick to their own group, so army’s and exols will drag eachother or stays and moas will drag eachother but they don’t dogpile on a group bc the only groups they care abt are their faves and whoever they’re competing with directly. Like recently zb1 had a bad encore and only briizes were hating but just last week riize had a bad encore and zeroes got their little revenge of whatever by dragging them back. Of course fearnots got involved and said but what abt their encores (as they should bc keep the same energy) but for the most part no dogpiling. Like I was on the bg side of twitter and no moas/stays/engenes we’re talking abt it cause nobody cares. Whereas most gg stans (I stan some) and from what I’ve seen are way more likely to all jump on a gg immediately, like whenever a group slips up I almost always see it on my timeline from a my, blink etc and ofc the bg stans also get involved (especially sm ones who are like my group could never-pull out sticker/Jonghyun push up encore) but it’s like a much smaller portion. Idk why that is (my theory is that there’s alot more male stans in the gg space that enjoy pitting ppl against eachother like they do with sports-ofc it’s not all men and some girls do it too) and when you pit these idols against eachother ppl want to defend/drag their groups and they do it by hating back or deflecting the hate to a different group and it just breeds toxicity. Like I’m on stan twitter and sure bg stans be hating but gg stans take it above and beyond. There’s definitely an element of misogyny there too. Now abt vocals idk much abt illit other then that one encore and I can’t judge them based on one clip so I won’t speak on them. But although I just sh*t on txt, skz and enhypens vocals le sserafim is even worse and it’s a lot more obvious. Sure those boys strain tf out of them notes and be nasally but they’re 75% of the time they’re on pitch. Le sserafims pitch accuracy is pretty weak which makes them an obvious target to hate on bc it’s so much more obvious and in your face, whereas a nasally vocal is like eh that sound annoying but most won’t notice it. Ive vocals tho are definitely overhated, like liz kills it each time, she no ningning or lily but she gets it right and is never off. The other members aren’t great but they stay on pitch and sound similar to the recording like 8/10 times. Ppl think wonyoung is just a pretty face but she could definitely be on this list of underrated singers bc ms gurl can hold a tune better then most of these boys and it’ll sound good. Plus their I am encores were pretty good considering how high that song was, very impressed with them. Sure fheyve had their lip syncing scandals and whatnot but when they do sing live they rarely disappoint
@@zorasbae You made such valid points. I really hate how they give beomgyu so little lines and when he does, it's like what you said: so autotuned and have some kind of weird effects going on. I thought I was the only one irked by that 😭 an example is 0x1=lovesong where the only lines he got was "say you love me" and it's just a duet with their featured female artist (I forgot her name sorry) the first time I listened to it I didn't even realize Beomgyu was actually singing along with her 💀. His deep voice is so beautiful and it's sad it's not getting developed. On the other end of the spectrum is taehyun. They should stop giving him vocally challenging parts which his voice can't handle without straining so much. I'm really worried about his voice in the long run cause it's definitely gonna get damaged with him doing high notes with no proper vocal training. TXT has a lot of potential and I hope they get vocal lessons themselves cause we all know hybe/big hit ain't giving them one
congrats on finishing your exam season! your uploads are alr very consistent so i didn't even notice lol. as for my rec if you continue this series, it's hweseung from n.flying! his stylistic approach is similar to jungho's of ateez but a more controlled, healthy version
Keeho is easily in my Top 5 best kpop vocalists of all time + as an American, his RnB vocals groove are more outstanding. Even his talking voice is very satisfying to listen to, I'm convinced that singers with a beautiful natural talking voice have more pleasant singing vocals too
Because why don't you ever hear people talking about (NCT) Jaehyuns vocals SPECIFICALLY?? Like... He has such a unique voice and I love to listen to him. And whoever thinks he can't sing HELLO?!! Forever Only?? Try Again (specifically) also his parts in some of the NCT songs are so addicting like he's one of the people I turn up the song (while it's on full volume already) JUST so I can hear him sing clearly. We love Jaehyun over here (obviously)
I'd like to add another ATEEZ member to the list of underrated vocalists: Yunho! He has such an interesting and versatile range, I wish it was more talked about.
dkz’s mingyu kyoungyoon & jonghyeong all deserve to be mentioned!!! i wanna say mingyu should be discussed in general because in most spaces he is deemed as the best 4th gen male vocalist (though he gets discredited by people for whatever reason).. kyoungyoon & jonghyeong are quite underrated in my opinion but dkz overall deserve more recognition as a vocal group especially with them being a 4th gen bg and having three “main vocalists” that are actually alright vocalists rather than just having high ranges (and the other three members still keep up vocally)
Hard agree on San. As you said, most people only pay attention to his stage presence and performance (as they should, tbh), and not so much how amazing his vocals actually are. Like his performance stands out more than his vocals, and most people seem surprised when they actually hear what he can do. It's wild. San's higher register is sooooo pretty, like in Guerilla! And the duet he did with Jongho is soooo nice!
other underrated vocalists are the mail vocal duo from zb1. taerae and zhanghao are both really good and compliment each other very well. also jaehee from nct wish. yes nct wish havent been around for long, but jaehee is extremely talented and his agility is pretty impressive y el color de su voz es tan lindo(sorry for the language switch up. i just didnt know how to say that in english or how to express my words in english)
i don't think zaerae and zhanghao are underrated though. they're constantly topping fan-made lists of gen 5 vocalists. jaehee hasn't been given a lot of opportunities to shine yet. i need his lastart vocals.
it's not been a year also they are recognize by their vocals also 4th gen is still shining so i think no one in 5th gen has yet been to complain about underrated wait for some year then see the will slayy
The thing I find interesting about Jaehyun is he comes off as NCT127's Jeongyeon. They tend to get shafted in lines in spite of having "Lead Vocalist" title and skills, and are often in like 5th place in Line Distributions.
i got into nct because of jaehyun's voice specifically and then had to scour their bsides to enjoy his vocals so dojaejung was a godsend. sm let my guy sing dammit
as a non-nctzen but someone who listens casually: what do you *mean* people forget jaehyun is a vocalist??? his voice shines so much, absolutely gorgeous
I don't know why Jaehyun is so underappreciated, he is literally one of the best vocalists and one of the best dancers as well but whenever I see people praising him is purely on his visuals. We know how handsome he is but I'd also like people to realize the talent he has, which for some reason seems to go unnoticed
Key of SHINee is and has been an amazing vocalist, but truly underrated. He's the original all rounder but when shinee is mentioned, they overlook Key as a singer
i feel like youngjae from got7 is very overlooked by the kpop community. he's very loved for his powerful voice, high notes and stability within the fandom, yet he never gets mentioned when there are discussions on the best kpop vocalists within the kpop community. could you please add him to one of your videos one day? with singing as his passion, youngjae deserves to be praised and appreciated for his wonderful vocals so much 💔
Using a similar criteria to choose some idols among so many names I would add in a hypothetical next video: -> ONF's Hyojin (underappreciated 4th gen vocalist) -> Shinee's Key (lead vocalist from a popular group who is more known for his stage presence and variety skills than his vocals) -> ARTMS' Heejin (dancer with great stage presence who delivers her lines with competence) -> WJSN's SeolA (is more known for her visuals than her vocals) -> Using a similar criteria to choose some idols among so many names I would add in a hypothetical next video: -> ONF's Hyojin (underappreciated 4th gen vocalist) -> Shinee's Key (lead vocalist from a popular group who is more known for his stage presence and variety skills than his vocals) -> ARTMS' Heejin (dancer with great stage presence who delivers her lines with competence) -> Mamamoo's Moonbyul (is outshined by other members and has a rather deep voice)
I once thought that Nayeon was a 'studio singer' but that really change after seeing TWICE in their previous tours (III and Ready To Be), she is actually confident and brave live, she is the member with the most lines in the group and she is always delivering her best out of those lines, performances like Cry For Me, Queen Of Hearts, Heart Shaker and Talk That Talk are insanely hard for her due the high belts and the choreography but she shows a great stamina aswell, is not a shock to me that she (and Jihyo) are the sound of TWICE.
Oh yes, definitely. Their con changed my mind as well. Honestly, I'm neither a fan of Nayeon's tone nor Jihyo's stylistic choices...but seeing them live blew me away. They're absolute performers. I can only listen to a handful of their songs (producers' fault tbh), but I'd absolutely watch their live performances and see them live again.
@@louise9489 If you're not into their cutesy or retro title tracks, I'd recommend their b-sides from 2019 onwards (including the Japanese ones), they're gems.
Every time I click on a video about vocals I pray to god to see Renjun and Chenle also Xiaojun's , not just unique voices but great skills too , people would mention any nct vocalist and skip these 3 even tho they're among the top5 nct vocalists
If I can add one : Kang Seungsik from Victon !! (To be honest, it could also be Seungwoo or Sejun) His vocals are very strong, he has great technique especially in his lower register. He sometimes gets slightly nasal when singing high notes but he still sounds amazing !! I would recommend anyone to pay attention to his vocals 🥰. The video was very great btw ! I recently became a P1harmony fan, and Keeho really surprised me. I loooove rnb, and his voice is so rnb coded!!
well. soooo i hope theres gonna be part 2 bcs yunho (ateez) is waiting for being mentioned btw the reason jaehyun is kinda lost in vocal line is bcs hes usually used as a rapper since there is less rappers than vocalist
@@tp5510 yes! I also in awe of his cover „Even If it’s Your Happiness“ (special clip they released on his birthday this year), he showed even more of his ability there, also not a live version, but I’m honestly impressed. But he can absolutely sing live as well. I hope more people would stop sleeping on his talent.
