@@arturoolivarez8042 My miata is a baby FD lol. NB mx-5, 1.8, 6spd torsen diff. Lowered, sway bars, strut bar, better brakes, planed head and port/polish. Doesn't beat an FD in straight line, but it destroys them around a lap of Hampton Downs racetrack.

Push it straight forward. Any side motion, you get 5th. That's why so many have crunched 5th gear synchros. Push it straight forward.....let the gate pull you to 3rd. Open palm shift, 2-3 works best. Hard to train but that's how you keep out of trouble. Been my experience. Well, also I put a short shifter on it, and increased the gate bias. And bent the new shifter towards me.... Still have to palm it forward.... I agree though.

@@fd797 True but the 5th gen synchro was definitely flawed though. Used to have a modded 93 R1 myself from '98-'13 until i just got tired of dealing with working on cars. Loved my FD though.

@@CL-rm6sb I can't agree. I thought I read somewhere the 94 and later had synchro improvements. Unsure if true. My 93 5th went out. I had buzzed it a few times with a 2-5 shift - who knows how many it had besides me (80k on it when I bought it...). I replaced the synchro, and been ok since (even with my 'training' have still buzzed it a few times....).

@@fd797 my cars a 2000 Rhd model, with upgraded engine mounts and diff brace, still occasionally botches 2nd to 3rd , i can certainly drive for many hours whilst getting perfect shifts, it just occasionally happens when you don't want it to.

It’s weight is way lower than NSX’ which gives it a decent headstart, combined with masterpiece rotary makes it hard to outrun combo

@@breaker6501 The weights are pretty similar. FDs run around the 2800 mark, NSX around the 2900 mark.

@@robpetersen87 Still, rx7’s were rather made to cut the corners easily minding the weight and specs in general, while NSX is somewhat luxurious sportscar resembling F1 bolide that didn’t put that much attention into reducing the weight as much as mazda

@@breaker6501 I don't think I'd really agree with that. The NSX was a full aluminum body. That was a pretty pricey and novel way to save weight at the time in a production car. The FD is almost entirely steel (only hood is aluminum). The NSX also had an aluminum engine, while the FD had iron housings that are pretty heavy. The FD did end up slightly lighter overall, and is my preferred car of the two (I've got two of them) but the NSX was made with a pretty similar philosophy. Gordon Murray used it to benchmark the McLaren F1, and no one care more about weight savings than he does.

My brother bought a bucket list ‘99 nsx a few years ago, kept it and cleaned it up a little and drove it a little, and just sold it for over $150K. It’s amazing how high the value has gone up.
