This video shows how to fix the flickering issue on the top center informational display in a 2nd generation Acura RL (2005) by reflowing dry solder joints.
Any idea how the time and temperature are sent to this unit as well as radio stations/xm? I have an aftermarket android unit and the top display isn't working with it...would like to figure out what parts of the factory system I should Frankenstein in order to get this stuff to work with the aftermarket unit. Lol, just read my other post...company screwed me on the head unit it seems so I was hoping I could do some research and mash this together
Thanks alot for the detailed video! It was exactly the problem. I was able to fix the flickering on my 06 RL in a short time after having the annoying flicker for months. I'll take $30 for soldering kit anyday over what a shop wouldve charged me.
Thanks so much for the video! Had the same issue with my Acura RL but never had the guts to try it. Followed your video and it works great again now. It was fixed in less than 30 minutes and no clips broken or any other issues. In my case the solder behind the green connector was broken.
Is there any way to keep this working, adjust time and keep radio channels displayed on an aftermarket head unit? I bought an android unit with an insert for the temp controls and which also controls temp from the android as well.
