Sorta bummed that this turned out to b a 10 minute commercial. My bad for not reading the fine print, but would be good for you to be more clear that this 10min segment offers nothing but a course outline that will cost us $50.

What is the best mapping option (Earthmate or Explore) if I don't need the advantages of the mini? (i.e. battery life, weight)

Hi Backpacking Light, this course looks great. I have a question that I cannot see to answer scouring web forums. Can the Garmin InReach Mini's firmware be updated via Bluetooth? And will/can the InReach Mini ever be updated to use the Explore App rather than Earthmate? I do not own a Windows or Mac computer. I do have experience using Garmin GPS devices and the Delorme InReach but, when it comes to software, have only used Basecamp (not Earthmate). Your advice would be much appreciated!

Hello Ryan. I just bought the mini. Set up was super easy. I do have one problem though. I downloaded the inreach sync app but when I try to sync the app says " inreach not found" and then below says " Looking" and the unit does not sync. I contacted Garmin and they pointed me toward the troubleshoot section of the website. None of that worked. I uninstalled the sync app and reinstalled it. Same results. I tried the repair portion of the app. Still no luck. Any ideas? I really appreciate your help on this! Thanks!!

@@tgr6250 Hi Ryan! No . Still no fix! I even tried my Norton compatibility troubleshooter program as well. In that program I noticed it ask the version of window the program worked in. It listed win 8, win 7 win xp . I am running win 10 64 bit but didn't see a fix for that. This program from Norton gave me a way to report the problem to Mictrosoft. I guess my next move will be to call Garmin direct support. What have you tried? I have chatted with them but they just point me to the process for firmware update or restore to defaults. I have done both with no fix. The weird thing is, my unit synced twice prior. I am baffled for sure! Thought I would wait till after the holidays to contact them direct. Please let me know if you figure this out and I will do the same. Thanks for getting back to me! Happier New Year man!
