The Bears spent two picks on DTs last year including a second round pick. They still do not know what they truly have in Gervon Dexter. IMO It would be a mistake to spend a high 1st round pick on a DT. If they are going defense at pick 9, it needs to be Dallas Turner, Laiatu Latu, or Jared Verse.

Agree. I think we could get another DT later. I believe in Gervon & still am not giving up on Pickens developing into a good player

Newton and Murphy are both better prospects than Verse. Turner isn't the best fit in the Bears 4-3 defense, as he would be a 3rd down only player for a while, possibly always. Turner's a much better fit as an OLB in a 3-4 defense where his speed and versatility could be put to better use. Verse could be a 3 down player for the Bears right away, but with a lower ceiling. Latu could be off the board entirely for the Bears with his spine issues. His are considerably worse then Jenkins' issues, and Jenkins has had trouble staying on the field already. For that matter, it would be interesting to see what the Bears medical staff thinks of Newtons' foot issue. I think Odunze, Nabors, or Alt are the most likely picks at #9, and if not available, Poles would be more likely to trade back. I wonder if they do go offense with 1.01 & 1.09, would Poles consider trading up from 3.75 with a 2025 3rd round pick to get in the mid 2nd round for an impact DL player, considering the need? Also, in the unlikely event that both Alt and either Nabors or Odunze were available at #9, which way would they go?

Murphy is too rich at 9. if they go DL/DE, it'll be one of the three top DE's (at least at 9).

I like the picks.I am a fan of Murphy and I think that he can give us a push up the middle which will help the Edge guys. In a couple of Mocks that I have done the Bears were able to get him at #18 & 20 adding picks in the process.

Silly to not take an edge until 122. As scary thin as Edge is, #9 has to be Turner or Verse or trade back to 12 or 13 and get another 3rd rd and still draft Turner or Verse, then get another edge at 122.

Take a stud OT and mix and match the 5 best lineman you have. I’m not as high on the o line as many others. I think they’re on, but can be significantly better. Odunze would be solid as well, but I’ll take a young, cheap o line with a chance to grow together during the next 3-4 years. You can get a good receiver in the third.

Offensive line what's that? Why break a tradition of not investing in the o line? I would get at least 2 OL out of this draft. We need 3 and a WR. Fix the side of the ball that the rest of the league values.

Fluss in typical Bear fashion named Bates the starting center. He has played less than 60 snaps at center in last 2 seasons. This with a rookie qb that had 83 sacks an 31 fumbles in college.

No way am I taking Murphy over Turner if he’s available. I’m not sure Murphy is even the best 3tech in the draft, Polk is a decent pick in the 3rd but looking at the WR room I’d ideally like to get a guy with more speed to fit alongside Moore and Allen and battle Scott.

Here's the problem I see with this mock: They're selecting as if the Bears will be competing next year. They won't be. They have too many holes and the Packers are absolutely stacked, along with 11 picks in this upcoming draft. So, instead of trying to compete, do everything you can to build around Caleb. If Alt is there, you run to get him. If not, Odunze. If both are gone, trade down and grab Brian Thomas Jr.

I get we need an edge, but at some point you HAVE to address the offense in the draft, Allen is GREAT he’s also old and might not be here after next year. Poles needs to go to Flus and say “Listen, I gave you plenty of help on the D side of the ball, you can develop a day 2 guy or sign a vet in FA, I gave you a LB room, I got you Sweat, I drafted CBs for you to rock with in the 2nd in back to back years, you’ve got safeties you wanted, we need youth in the WR Room” Dexter took great strides last year, let him take the next step and ease him into your 3T, you have Brax for 2 more years to see if he’s the long term guy, if he’s not, draft his replacement next year. I’m not a scout or a GM, but this seems like a no-brainer, WR at 9 or trade down.

Poles’ coaches broke into 3 groups to research WR, Edge, Tackle to decide & debate what they are going to do with the 9th pick. IMO draft one Rome or Alt and get an edge only if they trade down.

What if no one wants to trade up for our pick? I think the league is trying to punish the Bears for having the number 1 pick two years in a row and for pantsing the Panthers. We got nothing for Justin as an example! I think no one will want our 9th pick either. We’ll see in 3 weeks I guess.

I like the Murphy and Polk pick. But I think the most realistic scenario is that the Bears wait it out and pray that Rome falls to 9. If he doesn't than they trade back and take Murphy still and get another pick. Adding an additional 2nd or 3rd would really help with this draft.

I saw another RU-vidr also pick Murphy for the Bears at 9 and the comments also panned him there. Murphy is too high at 9 as others have said and with Caleb coming in don’t fool yourself Chicago’s O Line is just so so and not great depth same with receivers Allen has history of missing games with injuries and a little older. Bears need to give Williams best condition to thrive they can. OT at 9 if Odunze is gone and if they do get Odunze then package the 122 and a next year third or second and move up this year for that OL. Show Caleb you mean business.

Trading down and drafting Brian Thomas jr who is gets better separation would be a better option. Bears could probaly get 2 nd rounder, then they can draft someone like Chris Braswell.
