+DoctorDonna oh my god..marc martel ?? he is just like a mimicry artist n boring.. i'll watch freddie vids thousand times here on youtube than watching mr.martel live..
EdwardElrick93 well no he is but he is no where near as good as freddie. Freddie was a great song writer and an amazing performer who's live performances were just as good if not better than his recorded versions.

+Vimski I don't know you, but bad times tend to hurt a lot, but it will pass, you will have good times, it might not be the same, but you will have them and enjoy them. Take care
+Vimski I don't really know what your age now, maybe getting close to or a like past 20. My point is, yes hard times but the great thing about being a young adult is to find and create your own world. Your parents are divorce, can't do anything about it. Brother and sister refuses to get over it, don't deal with them. Go and find and create your happy world that you've always wanted and reclame what you've lost. Follow your dreams.
What's hysterical is people think he's a good fit for Queen. Adam can sing but he's no Freddie. It's like expecting a toddler to fill his dad's shoes. The same has happened to a lot of great bands though. You can always get new members but someone like Freddie...there's no filling in for him.
Vintage Hate He’s not trying to be Freddie dumbass,Adam is trying to keep Freddie and Queen alive and make today’s people remember their memorable songs and he has a very good voice to be in Queen.
XxVipe X VapeXx When did I say he's trying to be Freddie? I said hes trying to fill the spot. He's no Freddie. Meaning he doesn't have the voice or stage presence to fill the spot. Not a lot of people do. As for making them remember? No. That's like Shinedown when they tried to cover Simple Man. Ronnie Van Zant is another great that you cannot fill in for. At this point he's ruining the songs by changing vocals.
The circle has closed - since 2011 he is the frontman of the iconic Queen, who has no competition among contemporary pop rock singers. Range, flexibility, showmanship. 32 years after Freddie's death, Q + AL are selling out arenas. An incredible story! 🤩🤩🤩
+indo mamoro hey uh Indo..theres a couple more people you need to tell to stfu. Youre just a non thinker, you think Im being anti gay or anti Adam byt Im not. Too flamboyant and theatrical doesnt make for great solo performances. George Michael wasnt. And ge was caught givin handys in seedy public bathrooms in NY. lol
+Richard Inman not necessarily true, some of the greatest most memorable musicians/performers of all time did very theatrical performances such as, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Cher, Madonna, the list goes on & on & on
I remember in a interview Adam once said that Freddie was one in a million, nobody can replace him and there's even no chance to try to. All he does is just bringing the songs of the rock n roll golden age to life again. It's dedication. I don't think there's a PROPER way that one song should be sung like.(Surely what I'm talking about does not include the pitch or something like that) The magic power of music is the diversity of interpretation. Like it or not, it's taste thing, not the so called "proper".
@@randomstuff6791 you are ignorant. Freddie Mercury wrote and sang pop songs, just like Sir Elton John, George Michael, Pink, Taylor Swift, Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson etc. and eternal eternal etc's. QUEEN's songs are eclectic and Adam Lambert has been singing them all in their original keys live on stage in Arenas and Stadiums since 2009. I wish trolls refrain in exposing jealous rants.
Adam Lambert is a classically trained tenor, 2nd best on Digital Door, an archived list of ROCKERS. Listed greats are unique and original vocalists with incomparable singing style and techniques. BOTH Freddie Mercury and Adam Lambert are listed. Adam Lambert is capable of singing multiple music genres, including Opera, hold his notes for 21seconds or more and his range is from the lowest to the highest note of a guitar.
I don’t think Adam would even appreciate being called the frontman or lead singer, let alone seeing himself as such! And we can most-likely believe that none of the surviving members of Queen could ever imagine possibly replacing Freddie, either in their minds or for real. It’s a non-issue because he’s irreplaceable. I think they heard Adam sing, and saw him with his clear passion for their music, plus a similarly “fabulous” personality as Freddie-albeit coming from a bit more stable of a person (no offense to Freddie; it is what it is)-and they WANTED to work w him. Key word-work. Not use him to be the lead singer or frontman. He’s a SINGER… the singer of a band generally stands at the FRONT. Doesn’t mean they’re the frontman. Positioning is just stage presence. Nothing more - nothing less. Also, a “band” is a group-effort to create a single sound, not a leader, conductor or frontman directing everyone else. Unless your name is Beyoncé… and the group was Destiny’s Child. And you were the “child of destiny.” Hahaha. Jk. A band works as a complete unit. “Lead vocalists” are really just “vocalists”, and their voice is yet another instrument in the entirety of the sound of the group…
Sir Brian May received over half a million calls, texts and a clip of this audition for his solo career and it's also highlighted on QUEEN and Adam Lambert's The Show Must Go On NETFLIX movie.
why is everyone dissing this guy? It takes courage to get up on stage, in front of the camera crews and four big celebrities and sing. So what if he picked the song queen, he liked the song, they liked the song. And its not like he couldn't match the pitch or screwed up the lyrics. Plus he has confidence, a down to earth attitude and quite polite imo. I don't see how you could hate any of that.
I think I can tell you. One sad day, Freddie Mercury died. He was a music legend. And like every music legends, people tend to build him up in their heads, even inconsciously, and are lead to believe that he was actually far, far better than he was, to a point that it is impossible to even compare. Was Freddie Mercury a great singer ? Yes, and maybe one of the best. But he wasn't as inhumanly good as some people hold him in their thoughts. Then one day the band Queen decides that, since it's kind of a fashion trend (let's be honnest), they should meet and tour once more, because why not ? It wasn't Freddie Mercury's band, it was theirs as well. So they try to find a good singer, who can at least sing in the range of Mercury. Luckily, there is this man, Adam Lambert, who was noticed for his tastes in rock in a show that brought him quite a lot of fans already. The perfect candidate. But then, two things happen. First of all, as I said, people got so high up their horses about Mercury that they cannot stand anyone taking his place ; in addition, this band plays rock, and let's say that rock fans have a tendency to be really not thrilled about the giant manufactures that are these Idol shows - rightfully so most of time -. And it doesn't matter if Queen wasn't the most hardcore rock band ever and was totally fan with selling out even when Mercury was alive : they're legendary, rock fans cannot stand someone tackling their legends. So there you have it : a perfect replacement for Freddie Mercury in many accounts, he is a rock fan, is in touch with the pop world and the charts - or was let's be honnest again -, and has the vocal range to do a decent job, and the stage presence. But because he comes from American Idols and he is tackling a legend, rock fans will HATE HIM. His case is not uncommon : Arnel Pineda taking over as the lead singer in Journey, and being by far the best singer they had since Steve Perry, also started a lot of hate. And let's not talk about Ian Astbury, who was a singer in The Cult since 1983, playing with the Doors, under a different name for copyright issues (The Doors of the 21st Century, who had the three musicans playing with Jim Morrison in the Doors but still couldn't name their band the Doors, that's how the rock world is conservative about their legends), and got shit thrown at him ever since. Here you go, this is, I believe, the reason why people hate Adam Lambert. Because they cannot let go of their legends, mostly because they are nostalgic of a time when rock bands were the shit, topping the charts and all. Also notice one last thing : all of these peoples I quoted are singers. Switch Brian May for Steve Morse in Queen and you'll see that most people won't care.
Zenbateau my question was rhetorical but regardless I totally understand, agree with and support everything you said. just awesome, couldn't have said it better.
+Igor Yegin I'm suprised Adam was accepted in Russia to perform. I mean, from what I know, Russia has pretty low tolerance policy towards the LGBT community, other countries with similarly close-minded people try to sabotage such artists.
Bobby Truck I get your point. However, firstly, Russia is not very religious country (at least when it comes to urban areas), and, secondly, Putin deserves very little respect.
Igor Yegin Ah good you're russian, I always wanted to talk with someone. So tell me, how is it to live in a country where Putin rules? How's life there? I really wanted to get the whole picture from a native russian because media is full of propaganda when it comes down to you guys.
I live in the UK and never watched 'American Idol' when it was shown on TV here. It never interested me. But one Saturday afternoon I was flicking through channels and happened to come across this guy auditioning. I was blown away and ended up watching the rest of the series just to hear him. He is amazing. Soo glad to see he's now touring with Queen and made it in the music business. With a voice like that, it's hard not to see how
Mario John You can be pissed as much as you like, nothing will change and there are a great many fans who are enjoying this union. Freddie's legacy is intact. Shame on you for thinking anyone can destroy that.
Baby Cream how the fuck he could be Freddie?? Dude he is dead! That's it. Face it! I love Freddie too but that guy can't come back to sing you Bohemian Rhapsody
He seems like a great guy, and he's a great singer. I don't see why many people don't like him and I must say I no longer care; my opinion has been formed.
I watched him for awhile, and think I see "both sides". I too like him, a lot. But then he did two things--not a big deal to you or me--but things that alienated a LOT of people. First, he was a shoe in to win the season, but then on "country night" He ridiculed country music, so he lost a lot of base (he did, whether you like country or not). So stupid of him, he could have picked a classic country song, sang it in a non country way, and it would have bee great, but no. Next, when he came out as gay, (most of us thought "do what?") BUT THEN, he gave a concert where he really put it in our faces, doing all kinds of pretty lewd things, it was liked "OK, your gay, but even if you are straight, don't go out there and simulate oral sex, you low class heathen". Honestly, that did away with "liking him" for many people, so there is no mystery at all. Yes, some would have never liked the Gay guy, but there were a lot people like me, who liked and still like, but not as much after that crap
Jmichael Isbell I was never a fan o American or any other Idol, I don't like that instant star n' shit(i'm old school kind of guy when it comes to music, you know play in garage , write your own album n' shit).I first heard of Lambert when he joined Queen( he and that guy Martell i think were competeing for the spot and i liked the Martell more because he was indetical to Freddie's vocals and Lambert was exactly what Simon Cowell said , he read my mind , too theatrical , and for me too much improvisation ) and i was mad , i didn't like this guy from the start and i sayd instantly this guy is a gay you can se from mile far, and i found out officially just now from you. It's not that he needed to say that , it's like Jim Carey admits that he 's a comedian. I got nothing against gay population, i'm not homophobic n' shit but he is so much into it that it knows to be anoying....Freddie was gay but he weared it with so much more style, i don't have to say that i consider him singing i Queen a blasphemy, thats my opinion....and by the way thanks for the info, you seem like a cool dude...no offense if i said something wrong.
4 years ago Adam sang Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody in the audition of the American Idol; time passing, in 2013 he went touring with Queen, singing the same song - Bohemian Rhapsody in the iHeartRadio Festival. it touched me a a lot, and Adam truely made it.
Sir_Mercury I was talking stupid on purpose, and how can someone not know how to talk right? You must mean they have bad grammar, or speak English improperly. By the way, "Yea" is spelled "Yeah". Also, you forgot a comma right after "Yeah", and you forgot to put a period at the end of your statement. Don't go saying stuff that you can't do yourself, bud.
I saw him basically star in the Queen concert last year and I can honestly say that I am so happy to see how far he has come in his career. He was reallllllly good btw and this is just such a refreshing video to see
+Just Satya He used to live in a squalid apartment his dad nicknamed as 'roach motel'. No record company wanted to sign him because he's gay. Idol was his last straw. He actually auditioned for Glee but got turned down. He also auditioned for We Will Rock You the musical but got turned down. After Idol, Glee's producer invited him back to star in a few episodes and Brian May screwed his casting director for turning Adam down. Now, Adam did not get a part in the tribute band but he is wanted as the frontman of Queen instead, and QAL are selling out arenas/stadiums going on a neverending tour due to demand. Adam is a real rags to riches story.
All that doubt from Simon, yet this was the guy chosen by rock royalty to succeed - not replace - the greatest frontman in history. No, he's no Freddie Mercury (nobody is or ever will be) but I saw him with Queen twice in a week and both gigs were mind-blowing. Adam has a terrific voice and does a damn good job fronting the greatest band ever, in this modern era without their main man. If you wait for dear old Freddie to come back to tour with Queen then unfortunately you're going to be waiting a long time. This is the next best thing and gives those of us who were only young when Mercury died a chance to see Queen play some of the greatest songs ever written.
I can only back you up on this one. I've always loved Queen and their songs, and Freddie did a great job! Sadly, he isn't amongst us today; but both Brian May and Roger Taylor has acknowledged Adam's talents, and ask him, themselves, if he wanted to play gigs with them and honor Freddie, one of Adam's own idols. It wasn't because he kept phoning them down and pleading them to take him; but simply because they saw some potential in him that they knew Freddie would've appreciated and vouched for. So props to Adam for getting the chance to preform with one of the greatest bands on Earth.
To his credit, Simon gave the greatest credit he's ever given an Idol contestant ever to Adam Lambert, after his performance of "Mad World" he simply stood up and gave him a standing ovation...
Simon didn't say anything but "he's theatrical." Then he got interrupted and she jumped down his throat. Gee wiz Fox Network, drama much? But knowing Simon, he was probably about to say something douchy. But seriously that chick...interrupts him, then says its like pulling teeth. She was the most annoying part of the audition. Also, I love me some Adam Lambert!
@@MissMausoleum i know he did a really good arrangement of a kanye song, it was stellar, but besides him being in a streak of wgwg, I dont remember him.
You know what makes this simple audition to touring with queen and be a judge in X factor and American idol and sold millions of albums? True talent dear TRUE TALENT
True, but it's a good test of how talented the singers are. Maintaining pitch without any backing track/band is not easy to do unless you have a good ear.
I get that everyone thinks "only Freddie can sing this", but c'mon! Do you really want no one to ever hear this masterpiece of a song ever again? At least "let" some one talented sing it so the next generations can enjoy! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
AHHHH! It doesn't seem that long! I voted for you everytime, I had no douts that you were going to be in the top two. Too bad you didn't win, but still you got far in your career! I'm trying to get my parents to put me on American idol, and if they do I am going to sing whatayah want from me, or never close our eyes. I would sing better than I know myself, but I can't go that high. Thank you for being on American idol, and becoming who you are today and influencing me in your songs to keep trying and to never give up on my dreams. After all, yours did come true. Thank you!! :D
...And He now lead sings for one of the greatest band in Rock history. Freddie Mercury is my idol and one of the greatest voices of all, and I'm sure He would approved Adam as lead singer of the band if He was still alive and unable to perform. He's got stage presence, voice and charisma...That's why Brian & Roger brought him on board.
OMG y'all... I listened to Adam for as long as I can remember. His music brings back so many memories and he never fails to put a smile on my face and I owe him everything for improving my life and boosting my happiness and confidence. I really really REALLY REALLY love him, to the moon and much much farther. :)
No one is trying to be the next Freddie.. can people just get this in their head that maybe he sung it because I don't know.. he likes the song and said "hey I'll sing this song at my audition"
+EXEJON No he didn't , but if he had won and had been tied into a contract and everything else that comes along with winning American Idol, he wouldn't have done everything he's done. I still think the reason why he didn't win was because the people running the show knew he was gay and they didn't think that that would play to every audience. However I've always thought that American Idol was rigged. The only doubt in my mind about American Idol being rigged was the fact that David Cook won. but then again Chris Daughtry didn't win either. You go and watch the results when he got voted off and the surprise is all over everyone's face. His, the judges, Ryan Seacrest, the person who got to stay, and the audience.
Erica Beumel Not saying it means anything that he didn't win. Look at Daughtry. I believe he was the 4th runner up and went miles beyond the competition. American Idol is good for bringing attention to talent and if it is indeed rigged, then they are horrible at ranking said talent.
+Mateus TV O foda é que eu me sinto único, lembro de assistir essa edição em 2009, e lembro que minha mãe que assistia comigo falou que ia ''torcer'' por ele HUAHUAHUHA
+Sandy Why didn't he win? A week before the finale, Bill O'Reilly showed a pic of Adam kissing his ex and called it 'disgusting' and then religious leaders warned their members to not vote for Adam because they can't let a homosexual 'win' so they swayed the votes towards Kris even though they were not his fans. Also, church leader Gokey's fans (he lost at Top 3) also swayed their votes towards Kris because Kris was a Christian/conservative. Homophobia caused Adam's lost. Brian May from Queen knows about the anti-gay lobby and he denounced it in one of his interviews. Also, there was an AT&T power texting conspiracy in Arkansas - population of 2.8 million managed to generate 38 million votes for Kris (google for all these if you are interested to find out more).
Him not winning was the biggest upset in Idol history. He was unjustly robbed of the title. The day he lost was the day I stopped watching Idol. One, what is the point of voting when the best can't win. Two, there will NEVER be another contestant who can top Adam.
That is so stupid! I'm Christian and I would never not vote for him because of his sexual preference. He is talented and I'm glad that he is successful today
the main reason why I don't watch the x factor or the voice or american idol is this!!! every show is fake! Generally winning a competition like this doesn't necessarily mean that you are going to have a successful career! ! and of course being excuded from a competition like this doesn't mean that you have failed and you cannot have a successful career! so don't bother!! its all fake!
I'm glad Adam didn't win! It's disgusting that "religious leaders" would do that when they're only job is to teach fellow to LOVE each other. But with that said if Adam would of won he would of been tied down by that one contract. Also look at everyone who won. A lot are popular for a year or two and then they kind of dissapear. But look at Adam for example I believe he came in second and he is still around.
I remember watching his performances when I was ten... I was so sad when he didn't get first place. Adam Lambert also got me interested in Queen's music. He's a splendid singer performer 🫡 🏳️🌈
Just simply amazing to see and hear Brian and Roger. Queen will always be Queen, and Adam will always be Adam lambert, hence the Title Queen and Adam lambert. Never in a million years will there ever be another Freddie and never in a million years will anyone ever replace him, but if it means someone stepping in and singing for him just so we can still have Brian and Roger playing live then so be it. LONG LIVE QUEEN
Justin M Not going to lie, I haven't heard of the Kanye version until now, so I went to go check it out. And as I expected, it wasn't a full blown cover, like you guys are making it out to be (Kanye doesn't even play instruments lol). It was just an intro to his concert which was in UK, and do you know what the UK's favorite song is? Bohemian Rhapsody. Admittedly, he wasn't very good at it, but he wasn't even really singing forreal, it was just a sing along that he could do with his British fans to hype up the show, and bring closure. What a cover would be...is this American Idol video, one because it's acapella (did I mention that Kanye used the studio recording for the instruments in his intro), and two because it has its own twist. Okay post over I know no one is going to read this wall of text.
Few days ago I was at the queen concert and I must say that while he won't replace Freddie this guy has done pretty good job and I would be glad to see him preform with queen again and if by some miracle Freddie revived I would give anythig to see what show these two would make put together.
Artanis99 - Why do people have such a thing about saying "he won't replace Freddie" ?? Of course he has replaced Freddie and has done a magnificent job of it. Doesn't mean you have to forget how great Freddie was. It's an interesting idea to imagine Adam and Freddie putting on a show together. The awesomeness might be too much to bear.
erepsekahs "no-talent" ?? "Can hardly hit a note" ?? You've got to be kidding. Please get your ears checked. Someday you will find out the truth and you will be incredibly embarrassed you said this.
So this is the guy who ruined Queen. They should have disbanded after Freddie passed away. He will NEVER be duplicated. Freddie was too good for a Scripted talent show (If they were back in the 1960s).
Maybe their doing it for the Money. Like I said, Freddie didn't have to get himself known by some scripted Talent Show that caters to Kids & Teenagers. If people blindly accept musicians to use Autotune to hide their Bad Singing skills like: Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Nikki Manaj than people will accept anything thrown at them. Not bashing Adam Lambert but he's NO Freddie Mercury. Maybe they picked him because he's Flamboyant like Freddie was.
Wow! Amazing that he sang that song for his audition and later he got to sing it WITH THE REMAINING MEMBERS OF QUEEN at the iHeartRadio music festival in LV.
how amazing, he never would've guessed he would be the touring with Brian May and Roger Taylor for a Queen tour! He's an incredible singer, performer, artist, all around person, extremely talented. He was the real winner of that season. And what happened to Kris Allen? Haven't heard his name spoken in years. Congratulations on your success, Adam. You deserve every bit of it!
saw him with Queen at the Perth Arena the other night.. he blew my freakin' mind.. the guy can sing.. he's out of this world live. was a phenomenal concert
Queen is my favorite band. Freddie Mercury, my favorite singer/artist. Adam Lambert is an amazing artist. I think it's awesome that Queen is performing again, and I would absolutely love to see them perform. Do I think that Adam is the perfect replacement for Freddie? No. However, no one can replace Freddie. He is a once in a lifetime artist. A legend. No one can replace that. Adam is very charismatic though and a great stage performer.
Adam Lambert é um fantástico showman! Voz maravilhosa!!Grande show no Rock in Rio 2015! Um dos melhores shows do Queen!Nesse show no Rock in Rio arrebentou!Maravilhoso vocalista!
You know who knew and loved Freddie more than any of you so called Queen fans? Do you know who is more invested in Queen's music, name, and legacy than any of you? The actual members of Queen; Brian May and Roger Taylor. They love Adam and respect his vocal and performance ability enough to invite him to tour and sing these treasured songs. How about you guys show a little respect for their opinion? I think after all of their success, they know what they are doing.
Give me a break with some of these comments, Adam sang the fuck out of that song to a point that it gave me goose bumps and nearly brought me to tears it was so beautiful. Freddie would be damn proud of this kid and btw who gives 2 shits about being named after asteroids, comets, or anything like that, singers are judged on blowing peoples minds with their voice and moving them emotionally and that's the talent Adam has in common with Freddie as equals. #longlivequeen
