You definitely need to see a live concert! React to "How Great Thou Art." Adam sings in that & has a small solo section. He does have a great voice. They are all multi talented! Also, I know we are no where near Christmas, but Adam arranged their version of "Do You Hear What I Hear." It is truly the best version I've ever heard. His unique beat boxing on it is unbelievable!

Adam and hIs older brother Chris started Home Free in 2000 when Adam was 19 or 20 and he's been there ever since. I've recently learned that he has held the group together when others wanted to throw in the towel. Adam is the man.

Their crew (lighting and sound) are just as fantastic as they are. Chris (Adam's brother) says Adam has never been comfortable singing lead because he isn't vocally trained like the others BUT he is so talented and has such a naturally beautiful voice and he is getting more at ease with with singing minor solos by adding some harmony to his solos. The man is phenomenally talented and unbelievably humble. Tim said in one interview that Adam is the magic of Home Free. Great reaction!!!!

I do wish that Adam would record some of this, mix it and release it. I would buy it! But he hasn't really expressed an interest in doing it so it is only through these videos or attending a concert that it can be seen. Trust me, it is incredible live. A Home Free show is a party. I believe that every year or so, he creates a new "set" and practices it in his little recording office in his home. Then when they get ready to go on tour, he creates the light show with the lighting guys. There may be a click track as all the guys use one during concerts. But Adam is very hands on with everything he does. He really is the heart of the group.

Excellent!! I hadn't heard that particular one! During their Christmas show, Adam used the looper to create "The Carol of the Bells"!! 😳🔥 In one of his old sets he did Michael Jackson, dancing (including the moonwalk) and remixed "Billie Jean"! Lol The boy's got moves!! 😁👀 That's where the studded jacket came from that he put on in this show.

I've had the privilege of watching and hearing this twice, live. Believe you me he is fantastic and leaves you wondering when does he have time to breathe. He has fantastic energy and endurance. He does this for every show so that it gives the rest of the group a break. He is after all "our freak of nature." But he is the glue of the HomeFree guys. I'm sure other groups would love to steal him away. Glad you liked him. Great reaction 🥰✌

A cappella music and beat boxing where nowhere on my radar before I discovered Home Free. I am completely obsessed with their music and especially Adam's beat boxing/vocal percussion. I find myself listening specifically for his performances when I hear their music. I got to see them live for the first time in October and the show was all I'd imagined it would be and more. Adam's solo was jaw dropping. Creative, electrifying and exciting. The only way he wouldn't get a standing O for his solos is if he performed them in a cematary. I'm thrilled for a reactor to acknowledge his skills. Ironically, he's so good at what he does, most people just blow by his contributions to the music because they forget it's him doing it and not actual instruments. The solos really highlight what he can do. He does a drum solo at every Home Free concert. Thanks for an awesome reaction.

Yep - Adam is a beast & damn he's good!!! Not so sure that what you seek exists (in the public realm anyway). HF has promoted themselves this way, by sharing and allowing/encouraging to share on social media, so most everything available is by "handheld" of some sort. Very surprised of the quality actually (or what you do get to hear). Guess if ya hear it via "share", should most definitely make ya wanna see a "LIVE" show any by merch. Sound qualities are affected by so much, esp the venues. One thing is for sure -- LIVE performances, you feel what yer hearing!!!! Be Safe

I was thinking back about how I grew to love Home Free And how it started. They were on a Show called “The Sing Off” season 4. It was a great place to really see their talent and get to know them, plus hear their great music. There is a clip of all their performances on the sing off called “Home Free - Sing off - Season 4 all performances. Yes, their live shows are incredible, and Adam does a solo every concert! I agree that the cellphone recordings don't do it justice, especially with Adam's incredible range (B0-G6 I believe). His solo stays pretty much the same, but he will switch it up every once in a while and add new bits, or old bits like the Michael Jackson stuff (he even dances). There is no studio recording of his solo work as far as I know, the only thing that would come close is when they have done livestreams of their concerts, as the sound would be recorded by their own sound guys.

In all the live performances I have seen they have done some version of this. It usually starts with him explaining the looper, and all the guys will chime in for a part, and then he goes into his solo stuff. I don't know that Home Free has ever put out an official recording of this, but if you go to a live show you're almost guaranteed to see it. I can tell from the background this was from a Christmas concert. The thing that got me is hearing Adam solo, is how low he can go, which makes sense to do all of those percussive sounds, I think I just took for granted before how low he was going to produce those sounds.

I guess Adam's drum solo is a time for the others to take a little break; grab another drink, hit the head, take a breather. There's a video of one time that went not exactly right. Home Free Leaving Adam Out to Dry On Stage is less than 40 seconds long, recorded by someone backstage and starts blurry. And it very funny. But it's always nice to see their lovely backstage manager (or whatever her title is, I keep forgetting) Jenika Foust, Tim's better half.

Tonight, about 2 hours after you fall asleep and are dreaming about pilgrims walking in Tibet, you will develop a twitch in your right cheek followed closely by the left cheek twitching in a syncopated rythm. Finally both cheeks with cramp into a sadistic grimace that will need the application of warm compresses to relieve the pain. It is a common event when you view an Adam Rupp "Drum Solo" video with no smile breaks. Congratulation, you are unmistakably a die hard Home Fry.

Why drag along an entire truck full of drum kits & etc. when you have an Adam Rupp? If you haven't seen "Mayday Live" you really need to - it's quite different from the studio video. Even though the live videos are usually on fan cams, they're even better than the studio ones. Adam's breath & muscle control is amazing - there's a short video on y/t where he talks about how to do no-monicas - it involved lifting your soft palate among other things!

Hi Jeremy. Great reaction as usual, but it’s really hard to see what Adam is doing since the screen is so small (using an iPad), and I do understand why it’s small. Is he actually recording different parts separately and then playing them back simultaneously? I think it’s called looping. Thanks.
@musikbyjh
@musikbyjh Год назад
Hi Beverly! Sorry for the quality…cell phone videos aren’t the best. Especially when it’s small. Yes, he’s got a piece of gear that records what you put into it for 4 measures (a typical beat basically) and then it repeats the line you fed it. Some looper pedals can record many different “tracks” or lines, and layer them on top of each other, and will play it back until you stop it. It’s an amazing tool…but you’ve got to have amazing timing. If you don’t, your loop will sound off. Ren does it in one of the videos with Chinchilla, and you can hear that one of his notes is too slow. It even throws him off a little. But you really have to know what to look for.

This isn't a professional recording of Adam but a short clip showing how he lays down his beat and mixes it. It's only a little over a min. so not so great for a reaction. I just thought you might be interested ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HAvyfkVsyLk.html

How much of an ear would it take to be to able to do? Is his ear superior to most of us?
@musikbyjh
@musikbyjh Год назад
Well, yes and no. I wouldn’t say superior, because most people can train their ears. Once you train your ears, then you train your mouth on how to replicate the sound. But you HAVE to know the sounds first. So, I think if most people really applied themselves and put in the practice that it really takes, you’d be surprised how many could do a good job. And then of course, some folks ARE born with it, and simply need to hone it.

The sound in the 2015 one is also not very good. Both recorded with cell phones. But look in my playlist…you’ll see I already did that one.
