Adam West's first appearance on July 25 was a walk-on cameo, invited to drop by just after his interview across the hall at Live-at-Five (followed shortly by Live-at-Five's other guest, Leslie Ann Warren). Both interrupted Dave's Record Collection (uploaded in full here: • Dave's Record Collecti... )
(The 6A page was Angela Candori. On the phone gumming up the works was Madeleine Smithberg.)
Adam then made his scheduled guest appearance the next night, July 26, to promote his pilot episode "Lookwell."

He always played it straight but also had great comic timing like Leslie Nielsen had done later, and by fortune I was lucky enough to have met both gentlemen in my lifetime RIP to both Adam West and to Leslie Nielsen.

Adam admitting how nervous he is on live television is just a joy. Thats the true characteristics of a guy who just wants to be himself in the public eye. Love you Adam. RIP

At a Con once, a friend of mine saw Adam West going into the building, but West didn't have his official badge on and so the security guard stopped West at the door. West then said: "I'm Adam West"-- but the guard didn't know who he was and wouldn't let him in. A few more exchanges and the guard still wouldn't let him in. West, miffed, then exclaimed at the guard: "Duuuuuude! I'm Batman!" ........my friend was rolling on the ground laughing in hysterics......

That’s HILLARIOUS! When I met him at Wizard World CHICAGO, I asked him how he liked playing Batman. He said, “Do you wanna know the truth?” I said, “yes, I do.” He replied,”Sick of it… But the car was fantastic! “ Now keep in mind, Adam, Burt, and Julie Newmar had just rented the Batmobile and the bat cycle from theVolo auto museum in Volo Illinois. And they were all ready to sign autographs…. But the dummy who managed them at Wizard world put them in a hard to find part of the convention with a red curtain covering their entire area. Why? I have no idea. But that’s what they did. And almost nobody could find them. Even the fans. I looked all over the convention center a few times before I found them. It was awful. I felt so sorry for all of them. Not only did they lose money, but almost no fans knew that they were there. But it was great to meet them all, and each one of them signed my Batmobile model. Adam West, you are my hero, and you will always be BATMAN to me. Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, BATMAN!

I know Adam West had some problems getting cast after Batman but he seems to have adjusted that he will be forever on TV and in our hearts. He was a favorite of mine when I was about 6 or 7 years old and I sometimes catch it on METV just for the memories. I had my son watch it with me when he was smaller but he outgrew it but he recognizes Adam's voice in some of the newer stuff on today. Seems like a great guy.

The only thing better than the idea of both Adam West and Lesley Ann-Warren appearing on Letterman is the way in which Dave introduced them. I'm going to watch the interview right now.

Adam West's new show, "Lookwell" was a pilot that was never picked up. Wiki says this about it: "Lookwell was a television pilot written and produced by Conan O'Brien and Robert Smigel, the latter of whom would become a primary creative voice for O'Brien's late night show.[1] It starred Adam West. Despite being a "personal favorite" of NBC chairman Brandon Tartikoff (who had left that position by the time the pilot aired and was replaced by Warren Littlefield), the pilot was not picked up as a series. It was broadcast on NBC on July 28, 1991 in a summer weekend timeslot reserved for burning off pilots which the network had passed on. The pilot has since become a cult classic."

Ah, Adam. I have the Blu-Ray boxed set of Batman. Great, great show. And the dialing up Angela bit was fantastic. Dave seemed "on" that night. Great, stuff all around. I see the link to the record segment, so off I go.

Half a billion people watching? Thats pretty amazing. But the show was mesmerizing, it makes sense to me. Wish Dave wasn't so aloof with Mr West. I guess the episode was wrapping up...
