That’s the problem isn’t it. G is a lizard titan too heavy to live on land. Ghidorah and mecha showed he is not indestructible. Kong is gorilla like titan, but these animal traits to not paint the full picture. 1962 Kong could take some abreathe hits, thunderstorms appeared when he roared and had elemental powers - not needing humans or a food diet. Same for G as he is not just a slow lizard. Many titans look like animals but should not be bound to what we know about their behaviors from a normal perception

That "Son of Kong" was a bit taken out of context. Back in 2013, Peter Jackson supposedly considered Adam Wingard to direct "Son of Kong" as a sequel much like it was to the 1933 original, but ended up being scrapped because by that time the KING KONG™ rights were being moved from Universal to Warner Bros. for the MonsterVerse and the rest is history.

@iandanielcassidy8126

@@TaiChino Godzilla's Personality in the MonsterVerse: In Godzilla, Godzilla's behavior is that of a territorial animal, Ishiro Serizawa theorized that Godzilla is the driving force to restore balance to nature whenever that balance is disrupted, suggesting that he essentially considers the entire Earth to be his territory. However, unlike previous incarnations, Godzilla doesn't blatantly attack or plow through ships at sea simply because they're there, in fact, with larger ships like aircraft carriers, he simply dives under them, even when the military launched a combined forces assault to stop him, he didn't react or fight back, and simply continued to hunt the MUTOs, even when he was being flanked by four naval ships. As opposed to any sort of morality, it appears to be that he simply considers humans to be tiny and insignificant and does not care about their general well-being but at the same time does not consider them worth destroying even though they, without harming him at all, fire at him nonstop. Godzilla does not seem to destroy on purpose, even when he destroyed the Golden Gate Bridge, it did not appear to be intentional, but just him reacting from being hit in the gills by explosives. He displays little interest in humans and focuses his attention entirely on the MUTOs. His supposed disinterest in the well-being of humans may be caused by their repeated attempts to kill him, the same attempt that showcased their destructive capabilities. After defeating both MUTOs, he leaves humans alone without any more conflict. However, Godzilla does occasionally display signs of advanced thinking, as he is seen adapting his strategies to fight the MUTOs and even uses sleight-of-hand to trick the male MUTO into approaching his tail, which he uses to impale him on a fallen skyscraper. He appears to possess some degree of emotion as he briefly looks Ford Brody in the eye when he collapses to his level, which also could suggest that he has at least some degree of interest in humans. Godzilla was designed to have a personality that would evoke the "last samurai" archetype, an ancient warrior content with solitude and preferring not to be a part of the world but has to resurface when certain types of events force him to appear and set things right. Godzilla's most notable relationships with other Titans are with MUTOs, Mothra, Ghidorah, and Kong. With Mothra, they are true allies, more so than their past incarnations that were prone to be at odds with each other since their species have symbiotic relationships with one another. Mothra's undying loyalty towards Godzilla is best demonstrated when she assists him in their fight against Ghidorah and Rodan, using her webs to glue Ghidorah onto a skyscraper, and incapacitating Rodan after he fought her. Their ancient alliance had been defined in romantic terms, with Dr. Ilene Chen calling Mothra "Queen of the Monsters" and Chief Warrant Officer Jackson Barnes questioning if "they got a thing going on", though subsequently Dr. Sam Coleman explains it as a "symbiotic relationship". As she died, Godzilla roared in grief while he absorbed her life-force, allowing him to go thermonuclear and vaporized Ghidorah. Following the battle, Godzilla had not forgotten Mothra’s sacrifice, and her gift of life led him to find a new home. Godzilla perceived MUTOs as uneasy ally at best through Queen MUTO who submits to him as her alpha and both deadly pests and natural enemy at worst through the conflict with MUTO couple he killed at San Fransisco and MUTO Prime. Lastly, in the case of Ghidorah and Kong, the two are Godzilla's fierce rivals as shown in various cave paintings where he is depicted fighting alternatively with one of them for different reasons; whereas with the former, their feud could be best described as the battle between light and darkness owing to the extraterrestrial Titan's malicious nature and desire to lay waste upon Earth, Godzilla and Kong battled each other because of their species' long-standing rivalry, but the two nevertheless willing to put aside their difference in facing a common threat. After defeating Mechagodzilla together, the two make amends to each other and went on separate ways on better terms. When Godzilla becomes the alpha again, he does not attack the other Titans who followed Ghidorah and instead spares them when they swear their allegiance to him again. Following Ghidorah's death, Godzilla starts to care for the well-being of the human race, as evidenced by a clipping in the end credits mentioning that Godzilla is keeping the other Titans from attacking major human settlements. In Godzilla vs. Kong, Godzilla revealed to possess the capacity to become aggressive and violent towards humans and Titans alike if he is provoked, something Madison Russell acknowledged as it was not his nature to wreak havoc upon human settlements without cause or reason. He wreaked havoc upon Apex Cybernetics' facilities upon sensing that its human occupants desecrated the remains of his arch-nemesis Ghidorah with signals they released being dead giveaways, and that he tried to prevent them from destroying themselves along with the planet they live on with said remains. He does, however, not involve other Titans in the search and had them returned to dormancy as revealed in the prequel comic, Godzilla Dominion, so they won't inadvertently get into his way or worse, swayed by his revived nemesis once again and subsequently undo the very damage they mended together. His worst fear came true in the form of the destructive, out-of-control Mechagodzilla - influenced by Ghidorah's remains grafted into its systems - and would've continued what the extraterrestrial Titan started had he and Kong failed to stop it. His mission to eliminate the threat came into the conflict of Kong who - though having nothing to do with Ghidorah's resurgence - is an example of Godzilla's willingness to eliminate those who oppose him from his goal, in addition to their race's past conflicts. While he displayed brutal and prideful tendencies when fighting Kong at Hong Kong, as he gave of a particularly menacing grin followed by a grumble evocative of a chuckle of sorts when he singed Kong's back with his atomic breath, Godzilla's confrontation with Kong was partly due to frustration by his rival unknowingly deterring him from stopping Apex Cybernetics twice. However, this didn't stop him from sparing the ape-like Titan's life since the latter was not the threat he sought, and to a subtle degree, Kong's defiance in the face of defeat earning him the King of the Monsters' respect. This noble decision ultimately saved his life during a hopeless fight against Mechagodzilla, since it allows Kong to assist his likely ally against a common enemy.

I like how a lot of comments here actually believe that Adam Wingard and the movie itself are biased towards Godzilla when that is absolute bullshit of the highest order. Like Wingard said here, the fights are dictated by the monsters' strengths and weaknesses and I believe it after watching the fights multiple times. Yeah, the first round puts Kong at a disadvantage fighting Godzilla in his watery domain and without a proper means of defending himself against Godzilla's Atomic Breath weapon, but the movie then puts Godzilla at a disadvantage in the second round as Kong is not only a better fighter on land but can move around the city terrain better than the much heavier and bulkier Godzilla ever could, being outmatched by a weapon that was made specifically to kill him (aside from MechaGodzilla) - a weapon made by using the remains of his kind, so it evens it out and that all makes it fair. Only the third round is where the rules changed and neither side was allowed to use their respective weapons, only tooth and claw and the winner is decided through a logical conclusion, and whoever got up first won. I find it even more hilarious that all the morons in this comment section don't get squat about two things: Godzilla's victory and Kong's axe. • First of all, regarding the battle axe, it's funny how people claim that the axe is bullshit, that it's giving Kong a cheat code or whatever, but the comical irony here is that without the axe this would indeed be a biased fight because Kong would have no proper way of defending himself against the beam and would have nothing to stand equal to the King of the Monsters in battle. Had it gone down that way, then I too would be the one complaining about bias, but for different reasons. 'Sides, it's better than that asspull from the original KKvsG where Kong (taking Frankenstein's place) got lighting powers out of nowhere and is given something that makes better sense and less horse dung. • Second, regarding Godzilla's victory - and mind you I am a big fan of both monsters equally and grew up with them equally - if the movie is going to commit to actually giving a definitive winner, unlike so many other versus movies including KKvsG that all copped out, then that means you are going to have to show for all the world to see that one of the two is stronger than the other. Since the third round was strictly physical strength, no weapons, no axe, no atom breath, and taking both this movie and the previous three into account, lemme ask you one question: did you ever believed for even a single second that Kong would win in a muscle-on-muscle, "no weapons allowed" fight against Godzilla? Because that aforementioned third round was purely physical and look who turned out to be the physically stronger foe. Yeah, no, Godzilla earned that win fair and square, and again to reiterate this is coming from someone who is also a Kong fan. And don't bullshit me either because you all knew this for years, even long before Legendary ever got the Godzilla rights, so don't even bother try lying to me.

Speed and agility Godzilla's top swimming speed can exceed up to 60 knots (69.04 mph) and he is fast enough to slam the male MUTO onto a skyscraper with his tail. Godzilla is also able to run at great speed when charging Ghidorah, running in a horizontal posture comparatively similar to that of a theropod dinosaur. During his battle with Kong in the city of Hong Kong, Godzilla could be seen running on fours in an almost crocodilian-like fashion to reach Kong.

I'm not sure what is biased in thinking that Kong can indeed brawl with Godzilla and possibly coming out on top, in no uncertain terms. If you use the KKvsG version, he's even highly resistant to the atomic breath to begin with. Godzilla momentarily getting the upper hand comes after Kong sets himself up for trouble after missing an opening on his opponent and his head ends up hitting a boulder after a fall. Where I think Godzilla traditionally has a clear advantage is in durabity because of armor. That being said I can't be among anyone who may believe he is weaker either. They were tossing and slapping each other around.

People saying that this isn’t biased remember Kong was the original titan and he won the original fight without having Godzilla’s armor tail spikes teeth or atomic breath hotter than the sun and also not being a aquatic creature beat him in the water. In this movie Kong didn’t even get his powers to atleast make the fight fair and they had Kong running around and falling into the earth the entire movie my mans didn’t get a break and on top of that in the first fight it wasn’t even fair Godzilla used his atomic breath to make Kong go into the water so that he had the godly unfair advantage and spammed his atomic breath on him the entire movie the only time Kong actually seemed to put up a fight is when he was up close and didn’t let Godzilla get the atomic breath off and it seemed like fair ground then the axe he used turned out to be useless unless it was about to explode and Godzilla tired Kong out then slammed him into a building with his spikes and slammed him on the ground and used his weight to dominate him. But to also be fair Kong never fought a titan before and gave godzilla business and also godzilla had so many years of experience and fought a godly titan the fact that kong put up the fight that he did says something

This commentary feel like Adam admits how bias the whole view of the thing was, I mean I get that Kong's more relatable but keeping Godzilla just an antagonistic for Kong to overcome puts a pretty bad light on the character even with there being no closure on his connections with humanity by having him just leave Hong kong like nothing happend just feels a little unsatisfying and I don't care about how the heel turn was foreshadowed in KOTM and the whole he's just force of nature the audience has to have a reason to want him to win besides he's just looks cool especially how this universe had both monsters be shown as sympathetic. And this is my personal opinion and if you don't agree don't hate.
@GormaruIsland

Well, the movie gives a solid reason to want both Kong and Godzilla to win: ------------ ( ) Godzilla was provoked into resurfacing and attacking upon sensing a rival threat, to which was ultimately mankind trying to terminate him with a powerful titan war-machine, and he sensed it seemingly with every activation/operation, no doubt with each operation moved to a different location as he attacked multiple Apex facilities around the globe. Apex sees this as an opportunity to frame Godzilla's attacks as an act of war against the survival of mankind, likely to further justify its creation, soften any controversy around MechaGodzilla when it came time to release the mech, and paint it as a savior, should it have succeeded in killing Godzilla and not gone out of control. () ---------- Nevertheless, Godzilla's rampage is justified, and for a destructive chaotic-neutral anti-hero, whose eliminating threats to the planet, and keeping both mankind and Titans in check, there's good enough reason to want him to win.
@GormaruIsland
@GormaruIsland 2 года назад
(Continuing/Final) Mankind/Apex is throwing Kong at a provoked/framed Godzilla, and that paints Man within an even worse light, as the true film antagonist, given how the story unfolds, and how Apex is essentially forcing two forces of nature to collide -- with the winner likely to be destroyed by humanity via MechaG, and mankind greenlighting the destruction of the Titans (and unknowingly themselves). With all of this, the audience has plenty reason to want Godzilla to win, to want Kong to win, and in a way get justice for man's abuse, manipulation, and near termination of them-- it all just so happens to wrap around a title-match.

As a fan of Monsterverse I liked a lot the other movies but in this one I save only the fights between Godzilla and Kong, all the rest is ridiculous. Too many jokes and teenagers. In King of the Monters I loved the staff of Monarch, the Argo ecc ecc. In this one there are only stupid characters except the child and Ilene Andrews. No explanation of the son of Serizawa. It is evident that there was more content to show but Adam Wingard didn't care about fans of Monterverse, he cared about the casual people with laser and Marvel/ Star Wars effects. No suspense for Godzilla appearances like in the other movies, even his theme was cut... Ehhhh, *shrugs* don't know about that ya know? A tiny bit much? Two teenagers is too many, oh, come on buddy don't be silly. As for jokes, well there were as many jokes in KOTM as they were in GVK, and for both films, much of them don't land well except for maybe one or two, which at best earn a chuckle. They REALLY have to work on stronger humor for the MV films. As for stupid characters - could you elaborate more? Jia, Nathan, Dr. Llene, Mark Russell, Madison Russell, Maia Simmons, Walter Simmons, their characters we're all serviceable, well performed, and weren't stupid in the slightest, their actions, motivations, threaded a fair enough human plot against the Titan conflict of the story. Not perfect, or deep, but servable and memorable enough, with just enough heart thanks to Jia. The only characters that felt -- well, we wouldn't say stupid, but felt undercooked, were Bernie, Josh, and unfortunately, Ren Serizawa. And sadly, if you removed them, the plot would change slightly, but not much at all.
@GormaruIsland
@GormaruIsland 2 года назад
Mark and Madison could've been the ones to investigate Apex, with Madison attempting to prove Godzilla's actions as defendable provocations of war, while Mark is also attempting to do the same, but is prepared to accept the worse that maybe Godzilla had turned against humanity. Which could've been interesting as he could've been a character at war with himself, still struggling with the lost of his family due to Godzilla and the Titans, and his feelings that they're too dangerous and should be destroyed. And ultimately trying to keep alive the only remaining family left that Godzilla and the Titan conflict hasn't taken away yet.

*_"Adam Wingard didn't care about fans of Monterverse, he cared about the casual people"_* Uh, duh! That's who movies are usually made for in the first place, fan bases are very small compared to the general audience and the general audience will always matter more than the fans, especially since the GE is bigger and is where the money comes from. @@MrAwsomeness360 A very fair point - franchise blockbusters are for both fans and the general audience, but are geared more so towards the general audience as they are the primary income towards a successful B.O turnout. That said, Adam Wingard, we would politely debate, does care about the fans, and the MonsterVerse, and put forth the best respectable efforts possible into GVK's making. To which we say, was a solid MV entry that was delivered well -- lessons from its success, we hope however, are well studied and carefully digested to make better stories/films. We love GVK, it did well in making Godzilla and Kong feel like impactful/foreground characters be it on and off-screen, and in making the Titan conflict the greater focus, but it needed a more balanced human story - it has plenty heart -- just needed to bake a little more.

It's so obnoxious and repulsive hearing Wingard speak about Kong in relation to Godzilla. "I felt so insulted! It's a fact Godzilla would win! There's no partiality here!" The bias could not be more blatantly obvious than this. Kong and Godzilla are BOTH fictional giant supermonsters with fictional abilities that doesn't and probably couldn't exist in real life! His strawmanning of Kong as "just a big monkey" would be equal to portraying Godzilla as "just a big lizard". This is such selfish and immature reasoning for favoring Godzilla as the winner. @@jackiesimplejake I agree with some of that. Wingard in an interview directly addresses G vs. K as remake of toho, and that's very obvious. In that same interview wingard admitted to being a full blown godzilla fan and was mad at the toho film for making kong win. Because of that bias, he did not make kong like he was portrayed in the toho movie. He is more of big gorilla than having the powers of monster - and that was deliberate. In the original kong is a tier 1 alpha titan able to go toe to toe with godzilla, and win. This one he was nerfed. They did better in Gxk than GvsK, but all good. Kong could have killed G when he was knocked out (round 2) but set up a stupid trap instead. Gxk he could have killed G again but knocked him out to drag to HE. G doesn't have the patience to toy with any titan obviously. G doesn't have that mental ability. To prove that, get a few hits on him and he goes to Abreathe. After I see the movie of Godzilla vs. Kong 2021 I was hype to see The 9 Unseen Titans who doesn't show up in the end of Godzilla King Of The Monsters 2019 and also they didn't appear in the prequel comic novel: Godzilla Dominion only Titans show up in the prequel comic is Amhuluk, Tiamat & Na Kika ( honestly Those 3 Titans: Amhuluk, Tiamat & Na Kika They deserve to made in CG Live Action & Also Camazotz Too) but the other 9 Titans wasn't seen in Godzilla Dominion & Godzilla vs. Kong like: Yamata No Orochi, Mokele Mbembe, Bunyip, Typhon, Baphomet, Abaddon, Sekhmet, Leviathan & Quetzalcoatl so I enjoy Godzilla vs. Kong in Regular maybe but For me MonsterVerse is still Unexplained and Unanswered About The Titans .

Godzilla's breath is composed of Cherenkov Radiation. In the real world, Cherenkov Radiation moves at speeds from 75% the speed of light through a vacuum, to beyond it in water.

I don't think highly of the film, half of it is the human story which continues to get less and less as interesting as the monster story with each entry of the monster verse. gareth had great long takes in godzilla '14 with a great couple who get killed by muto decades apart then switches to decent pov throughout with the son - and a lack of the titular character unfortunately. skull island had 3 too many humans surviving on their own then assisting king in the end. king of the monsters have a dead son and 3 too many characters in chairs behind computers in a jet. But VS just gives everyone a dead relative instead of characterization: a dead brother, a dead wife, dead village, dead brother again - at a dozen too many humans. and i'll always wonder what VS would've been if it was another director, if netflix had released the numbers from wingards crap deathnote film and if legendary hadnt have given him the reigns for 2 kong films... His answer here kinda stinks too, working within a bias for zilla with some respect for kong who he views as an ape vs jordan vogt robert's goal of depicting him as a god - humanoid 30s claymation design over just an ape with an axe...

How can you take over a whole franchise and make it about your favorite character when Godzilla is inspired by Kong and embarrass Kong fans by showing him getting stepped on. And not even giving him one win to really just show how you feel about the conflict but you make Godzilla have all these powers and unfair advantages then when he actually loses you say he was weakened but also say he didn’t try against Kong???? (Poor grammar)

Wingard was biased towards Godzilla as he specifically states that he was a Godzilla fan and was not able to create one scenario where Kong would win. So from the beginning the only thing he wouldnt change was the outcome of the fights. Also, it is one of the dumbest plots that i have ever seen, as Kong is suposed to be the hero and still looses to the villain. As a comparison it would be like if Godzilla of KOTM was defeated at the end by Ghidorah. Simply pathetic

Technically, Godzilla wasn’t the villain of the story, Mechagodzilla was. Godzilla was more of an anti-hero in this one. Also, Kong did win Round 2, so he did get a few wins Besides, logically (yeah, I’m using that word) Godzilla would win in a fight against Kong is were analyzing the characteristics of each monster.

must i repeat myself if it was the original kong godzilla or mecha godzilla would of just step on him cause he was only 25feet , kong had the luck of being boosted to godziila size in the monsterverse. he put up a good fight and even beat mecha godzilla who was owning godzilla so there was no bias . only you getting upset about nothing .

@@rexon31 So getting help every 2 seconds and not being able to fight a single battle on your own is okay with you? That kind of method is "not biased" as you say? Yeah right.. it's a shame he directs the Kong sequel because he just might repeat all that. The guy is a Godzilla fan plain and simple, he doesn't appreciate Kong's fighting capability. Otherwise Kong would still lose but put up WAY better fight then how he performed (and of course release himself out of trouble when possible)

@@asafakiva1619 I hope Adam wingard does it right and good writers join. I feel that since kong is in hollow earth he will be much more powerful and experienced. Kong was like rocky in GVK, he should be more ferocious in the next film. Let’s hope for it.

@@BKJREALMZ It's good to see you have some optimism for the next entry. It truly is an important factor👍🏼 I mean it. Either way I'm not as thrilled for the next film really. I leaned more on the Jackson version for how it's simply perfect. But who knows..time will tell if king Kong will get his well deserved redemption in the monsterverse

This bias dude shouldn’t have directed this. Kong and many of the other titans being thrown into this universe are too indestructible gods. Kong won in the original inception of this whole entire universe that you are remaking. So this guy nerfs Kong to the point of insult. Disrespected the first and original American titan decided by the original creators to be the victor - so he weakens K to the point of not even being a contender. Godzilla can win this time absolutely, but don’t disrespect the kong character like that

Here are translated pages from the book to confirm it.” So Toho says Kong won and every country but Japan says Kong won as to not upset their countrymen en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:King_Kong_vs._Godzilla Godzilla was portrayed as the bad guy that needed to be stopped and that’s what Kong did.
