Been my go-to shampoo for a little while now. I like that I don't have to be paranoid about it drying too quickly so I can wash more of the car before needing to rinse.

This is the best video about the car shampoo. Even better than the one by Adam's. I bought a gallon after watching this video. Used it today and I'm finally able to have my soap sit on the panels without instantly flash drying. It's the best soap I've used in the heat and sun is Virginia in the summer. Got up to 102 degrees Fahrenheit and this didn't dry out for awhile. I love this soap. I used to use the Mega foam but it's not brilliant during a hot sunny day. The car shampoo is just what I've been looking for.

I live in Florida, USA and I use Adams because I paste wax every 2-3 months and want to preserve it. Works well with a foam gun and 1 rince bucket technique. I foam the body and the glove and can do a quick wash in < 20 min with prep.

Completely agree with your review John. I use Adams Car Shampoo too - I switched to it from Auto Glym and I've tried a stack of others. Adams is my favourite. I've just started a gallon of the stuff and the only issue I have is that my gallon seems a lot thicker than everyone else's - it's so thick, it's difficult to dispense. I should probably add a little water in the mix but I don't want to mess up the dilution. It's not a huge issue and it's well worth it for an otherwise fantastic product.

I'm late to this video. However I live in Georgia USA. Very sunny. 40 degrees + Celsius during the summer time. I have tried many shampoos this is by far my favorite I buy it by the gallon. It made me smile to see this review and that you had a similar view on the product. I just discovered Griot's Garage products. I ordered a kit to give it a go. However I'm sure I will be sticking with Adams as I have for years.

Looks like a very good shampoo, one down side I see is the cost, 50ml from a 500ml bottle is over £1 per wash. Bilt hamber AutoWash is pennies per wash.

your right yes.. if it was cheaper it would be like a home run all round... BH is cool, 1900:1 is cool.. they can outdo adams on price but ive not seen anything that handles heat like this one does.

great video Jon, ive been using the full adams range for about 18 months now and probably have 90% of the full range. Aside from the hot days i also found a huge benefit is that in the real world of a middle aged man washing his car i rarely get to go from start to finish without interruption. Ive often got half way through soaping the car then had a work phone call to take and the soap has had to sit there for 40 mins or so. with any other shampoo that would be a problem but it just isnt with Adams. i also use it in the foam lance and same applies, no issue if you foam the car then have to leave it on there for longer than you usually would. im on my third gallon of adams shampoo and will use it forever more im sure.

I'm using Surf City Garage Pacific Blue Wash and Wax. The lubrication is fantastic and has great long lasting foam. Pacific Blue is the most slippery shampoo I have used. It glides over the paint with an Adam's Wash Mitt like baby oil. Chemical Guys GlossWorkz is also a good premium shampoo, but doesn't have nearly the lubricity of SCG Pacific Blue. Great video Jon.

It is a great shampoo. I will be buying more when I finish the remainder of the 4oz new CG shampoos. What was I thinking? That's right, I was a moron for a moment. Will be going back to Adam's before fall. I like Adam's better for the reasons you mentioned, no additives for wax, gloss or shine. Simple shampoo that smells rather good. Works well in a foam cannon as well. Thanks, John. I learn so much from watching your videos.

another great video mate I have a gallon of Adams and a Gallon of Car Chem1900:1. When I first tried the Car Chem I thought that was my new favourite however I must say after going back to Adams after not using it for a while I would say I prefer the Adams shampoo. As you point out in the video it just can't be beaten on the hot sunny days and with a black car like mine its a must. Car Chem 1900:1 is still a great one though and I like to switch between the 2, I think of Adams as my summer shampoo and Car Chem as my winter shampoo :)

@ForensicDetailing

sometimes but not that often now.. you have to use a booster bottle if you do that because the ONR makes the subs die quicker if its in the wash bucket.. you could put it in the rinse bucket to help reduce that also..

Haha, people are ribbing you about how long your intro is? they clearly are new to the channel, I remember when you couldn't do a video under 40 minutes :) Good job on getting the facts out and staying on point... very thorough as usual. The common folk don't get why we need more than one shampoo (family & friends think I'm nuts!) but I've got at least half a dozen on hand for different applications. Adams has a few fantastic products, love the soap (or shampoo if you prefer). Can't wait to hear what you think of the H2O guard and gloss.. I love it. Griot's Garage is another American brand with great products but I don't think you have them in the UK.

Hi Jon; I've been using two Chemical Guys shampoos with excellent results. 1) Citus Wash and Gloss Concentrated Shampoo which foams up well and is quite slick (in higher concentrations it can be used as a stripping agent) and 2) Glossworks Gloss Booster and Paintwork Cleanser which is also both foamy and slick. I,ve wanted to try Bilt Hamber's shampoo after watching your video reviewing its products but it's too diifficult and expensive to get here in Canada.

Have a bottle of it myself Jon and its excellent stuff. The price is the only negative but I have tested it at 30ml in 15L of water. Still suds galore and super slick on the paintwork. One of my all time faves and have noticed the same as you with regards to it not drying. Would certainly say it's worth the extra £££. ps. That ending 😂 sound of silence would have been fitting.

I'm in the US and mostly use Duragloss 902, Poorboy's World Super Slick & Suds, and Optimum Car Wash. All three shampoos offer high lubricity. The Poorboy's product has arguably the thickest foam in a hand wash application. I've tried a number of other shampoos, albeit not Adam's, and have yet to establish a well-defined preference for a given product. I've felt the same way about glass cleaners in the past and just found one that I really like. Perhaps a shampoo is next.

Thank you for your reply.
@ForensicDetailing
@ForensicDetailing 7 лет назад
if the shampoo or soap doesnt contain any wax or gloss boosting cationic components then you are not leaving anything behind.. So it wouldnt matter.. if a branded shampoo does, for example JML2000 glossshine plus shampoo with gloss boosting agent.. they might also sell a JML gloss boost wet coat that also contains a cationic component (and its highly likely to be the same base chemical just formulated in a more appropriate water and alcohol solvent blend) so this component will work the same way as it did when it was in the shampoo.. In those scenarios using brand pairings can be good.. In the same way if you have a paste wax on your car and shampoo with a wax will "generally" work better with it in my experience than say applying a wax shampoo on top of something with another format of coating.. this is the area I call combo'ing.. get asked about this a lot usually with sealant and wax combos.. Generally I want any shampoo I use to not leave stuff behind because i dont want it to play a part in the gloss level of my car and I dont want components sitting on top potentially messing around with how I then go on to protect the car. Adams shampoo will work with gyeon wet coat...

yer I do richard. Its splitting the atom with car soaps. theres lots of good ones. but this does not dry as fast as others. Beyond that its thick and sudsey and slick and the foam doesnt fade away in the bucket. It gives me as a consumer a reason to favor it. I have a review coming on their new ultra foam shampoo soon. I am also a fan of chemical guys soaps as well (the horror!). americans know how to make high quality shampoo's. I will do a video on picking a final one at some point but honestly the adams car shampoo is good stuff.

46 second intro is too long in my opinion. Great video after that though. :)

I know this is going to ruffle some feathers as it seems "detail dudes" are obsessed with the foaminess of their shampoo, but I'm going to say it anyway. I'm very skeptical of the foam itself doing much of anything. It's the soap that cleans not the foam. The product in the wash water is what causes the increased lubricity. Foaming up the soap is actually, IMHO, just wasting product as it is removing product out of suspension within the wash water. I know many seem to think that the foamy air bubbles some how suspend the wash mitt above the paint. But I think if one thinks critically, it just isn't so. This, of course, doesn't apply to foam cannon treatments as the foam serves to cling to the surface and provide a prolonged, soaking action as well as to entrap some light, non-adhered dirt and draw it down with gravity. I would maintain that all this foaming up of product does nothing to "suspend" the wash mitt and is actually wasting product. Interested in your thoughts Jon. I know how much these vid's take to produce, but maybe a test using your microscope could prove or disprove the foam theory. Thanks very much!!! Learning a lot from your vid's!

Im not sure buddy. the surficants used in these products generally I dont think are helped by foaming... so in that respect you might be right. I hate using a soapy water with no suds though.. I just like suds, lots of them, I find the mitt slides best when its loaded with foam and its the mitt thats playing a big part in the cleaning as well.. one thing though in regards to prewash and foaming, yes I think it can help with cling but it reduces wetting or soaking generally.. the best pre wash BH auto foam Ive used doesnt produce any foam really.. the surficants in it rely on super wetting the dirt to work and pete hamber suggested foaming is totaly counter productive to that process. so yer you may have something there bert.. but the guys making these products tend to have the appropriate chemistry knowledge to formulate suitable product.. and the fact that virtually all good car shampoos are high foaming would suggest its usefull for something (maybe it is just lubrication of the mitt?)

Agree that if the foam floats yer boat, then that's also part of going to this degree of car care. That being the enjoyment of it. Can argue with the psychological factor. But companies also respond to customer perception as well, regardless of actual efficacy. It's all marketing. And the best foaming action seems to be one of those things car buffs seem to have clung to as an indicator of quality. Just thought it was interesting. Thanks again for all the great info!
