A couple of months ago I bypassed the EGR cooler with a male to male adaptor as mine was leaking, and fitted the 7mm plate. EGR is now deleted properly (via tune) and I chucked the cooler in the bin, fitted full blank plates either end😊
Geez the spaghetti mess . Remote earth/power pole/stud single or twin ,tidy the mess really well and take away majority from the battery posts . The vehicle is a wiring joke .
Mate im happy to contribute by removing my egr cooler lol. Ive accidnetly broken the pipe under it where the egr blanking plate goes. Snapped right off the factory weld. And i have direct air going into it the egr cooler now. So far no problems. I don’t even know if direct air going into it is a good or bad thing. So at this point im happy to try take it off and see how it goes. But id like to know What you think about direct atmospheric air going directly into it.
If your going to block egr exhaust completely you would beaware you need to electronically defeat the egr system so no codes are generated .Then plate cooler . Reconnecting water hoses so water flows is the best way . Done this to older Ranger and Lux . Waiting for new lux to come outta warranty .
Gotta take that grille off to get those Rad bolts! I had 2 hours of fun in the dark at 3 am getting that done! I would assume you would have to take the front grille off on any bullbar.....
If I was getting a new engine hopefully it will never happen with regular services and maintenance not from a dealer lol but I would pay the extra for new glow plugs
certainly makes sense, why run the lines if the egr no longer works or very limited in it's working, rerouting the lines saves from another possible failure point should the egr cooler split as it did on my mate stock untouched 79series, it coused the engine to over heat now he has major problems with the engine(it's rattling an knocking) bloody toyota told him to keep driving while they work out what to do, i told him Fthat!! park it an get a beater to drive!!
The EGR cooler on mine leaked as well.... I wonder what the 7mm plate and then bypassing the coolant to it would do? Can it cause the EGR cooler to get so hot it would start a fire?
@@Fourby4Diesel only thing that may be a concern, due to no cooling effect and constant heat through the cooler, could the internals get damaged and possibly fall apart inside of it
That’s what I was thinking about but it’s just not gonna matter and I don’t think it’s gonna happen one way to find out my original idea years ago was air cooled put the hose, run it to the front of the vehicle put a funnel in the hose face it forwards to collect air
What would be the idea behind 2 different mechanics telling me not to plate my egr and both saying that the 1kd doesn't like having egr restricted? But I've seen others recommend it, cheers
