Back with another free tutorial for native style flute playing.
Perhaps this will be part one of two videos I’ll share on this subject, but this will do us for now. Essentially anything that helps us navigate away from our usual sound is helpful, whether it’s a single trick, a tempo shift or entirely new sound, so have fun with it.
There are more ideas of how to navigate the flute to liven up, rejuvenate or elaborate on your sound, coming in future but these techniques I use and am mindful of throughout my playing to help break things up. There’s no right or wrong, remember to have fun and that it doesn’t always sound perfect when we first try these new ideas. But, with a little practice and stepping out of our comfort zone (which is important) then we happen across new patterns that can be added to our existing sound.

Yes I think it’s awesome too. You can slot it in whenever, even mid flow or when you begin (as I do) revert to the same familiar sound.
