I used to use an iPad in an old car. Got some command hooks, 2 on the bottom and 1 either side so the iPad just slipped in. Cellular iPads have GPS built in so just used Google maps and Waze etc, then Bluetooth to the car for music. Granted it was an iPad I already had, but it was at a time when I'd managed to get screen burn on one phone already (early OLED's) from Google maps so this was a far better solution
heck an iphone plus is similar size to many cars built-in displays. As long as its hard mounted on your dash whats the difference? Let us use our devices!
I was very happy to find your video when it was announced that Chevy won’t be including Apple CarPlay in future EV’s. I love my new 23 Bolt with CarPlay but thinking ahead if I get a Trailblazer EV I would still want CarPlay so you have shown me that there will be a viable workaround if/when that happens. Thanks again for a great straightforward and informative video.
Been using our Carpuride CarPlay device for a year now. Really love it, connected to the aux port of our 2016 Honda Odyssey. Makes road trips so much nicer with Waze on a large screen.
for audio i ended up still using the BT connection to my car - that way podcasts/music etc are just direct BT to the car. you can CarPlay wirelessly and still send audio to another BT connection which is nice.
If Bluetooth was better in my car I would. With CarPlay it starts playing automatically and stays on the right audio source. Car never stays on Bluetooth audio
@patrick. Can you expand on this. So the device connects to the car via BT but the iphone connects to the device to BT so thats 2 BT signals going. Am I correct in this?
I have this head unit and be aware it does not always play nice with Bluetooth in my experience. It will very rapidly connect and disconnect, this stops location Services to load. I have raised it with Carpuride support who did eventually send a newer sw version, but this proved ineffective and the issue remains. I have asked for a return and refund but BE AWARE tgey will onky accept returns if cover all the shipping and customs costs to China. I reside in the UK. I maybe just unlucky but i feel people should know it's not a perfect solution.
ATTENTION!!! Guys do not use their original mount that blocks your view driving. I bought 2 heavy duty magnet phone holder that attaches to your AC vent in that way and stick my wireless carplay to it. And won’t block your view and to avoid accident.
Awesome video! I had to get an equipment like this for my car too and it’s been awesome 😎. Have you experienced the calendar widget in the Dashboard? If the event has a location, it let’s you jump right in to Maps to get directions. Crossing fingers gas apps like Wawa’s and Shell’s integrate soon so that you can select a station/pump and pay directly from CarPlay and then fill up gas.
I tried the CD mount for my 2013 Soul but found it was just too bouncy. Also, it covered my reverse camera so I designed and 3D printed my own mount. It’s working much better but still need to make a few more tweaks.
I got a different one than this specific model but I was able to do CarPlay and use Waze on the car play screen and just play my music through my Bluetooth stereo so if your stereo has Bluetooth you may want to try that.
Cool review! A quick question, does this allow to be connected to the vehicle's bluetooth like you would connect your iphone? That should enable play/pause, skip, back skip the music, and volume control on my steering buttons... I know the phone can be connected to this W901 via bluetooth, which is nice, but my question is, if the W901 can connect to the vehicle's bluetooth... If you could test that out. My commute is rather long, and FM transmitter doesn't work for me, as well as the AUX connection doesn't let me skip music I'm playing (Spotify etc...). I use my current CarPlay (which just died) for navigation (WAZE, Google map or Apple Map), play news on commute on Audacy, or music on Spotify...Thanks!
Stephen, Thanks for the review. Ive been wanting Carplay in my F-150 but don't want to install an aftermarket system. Looks like I found my birthday present. Randall in Kentucky.
Good presentation of this solution, although the display physically jiggling up and down would drive me nuts! But that's just personal preference on how it's mounted. Thanks!
Thanks! Some of their Pro / newer models have dual bluetooth. So you can connect your phone to CarPuride, and CarPuride to car bluetooth. No aux cable or FM transmitter required.
Nice summary - I'm fortunate to have car play but I never really liked it at all in regards to how it worked so don't use it. Might have to give it another go but I don't think it's Apple's fault, but more likely Ford's.....
@@beardfm I don't think it's any different based on what you've shown here - but it's pretty flakey with regards to function and pairing, etc so probably not apple's issue as much as the hardware.
Sponsoring the video mean they paid for my endorsement. Sending the product without sponsorship means I’ll review it for better or worse. See my Deebot review which I didn’t prefer over the Roborock I bought a year ago.
Great video! I got the 7” ESLYYDS car play and I’m having some audio issues with it, both wired and wireless, so I’m switching to the Carpuride! Thank you!
Thanks for the review. If you plug your phone into the device using USB, can you connect your phone to a wifi internet source? I'm considering getting this for an RV where I'll have an onboard wifi router with my internet connection and I want to be able to connect my phone to my wireless router for data and then attach the phone to the Carpuride device by USB to use Android Auto.
Very informative video. You pretty much convinced me to go with Carpuride. I would like to mention one little thing though. You say in the video that this kit comes with a CD player mount, which is the method that I want. However, at least with the Amazon package, it is not included and has to be purchased separately. Not a big expense at $12.99. Just thought that others should know this. Thanks for the review !
Is the touchscreen capacitive or resistive? Also, it looks like your Amazon link brings us to something that needs to be installed into your actual car radio slot.
I'm looking what is probably a rebrand/newer version of the same product. The one I'm looking at has the option for a backup camera (sold separately or in bundle). You don't happen to have tried that option?
May want to look at this model which has dual bluetooth for connecting to the car! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a2BBJ9suyHU.htmlsi=1diL3sGJQ8vIELkC
For that kind of money or a little more you can a pretty nice replacement radio with Carplay and Android auto. I guess this is for those that cannot handle replacing their radio. Think twice before taking this route.
I think you underestimate the head unit market. I went onto Crutchfield, and there are still displays being sold with a Resistive display. Remember those? Pressure sensitive displays from 2010? Insane, and some get real expensive with that old ass tech. To get a capacitive 10", the minimum for my car is $600
I don't think it would work with this device, unless you connect your phone to the car's bluetooth directly and then use Wi-Fi to connect to this display (which does work, I've tried it). But there's a newer version of the Carpuride screen that has dual-bluetooth ability and would do what you're looking for. I'm covering that soon on the channel!
My car has a cassette with a MALE end aux. Car has no Aux input and I don’t want to do FM transmission so my question is will I be able to plug my cassette aux into it and use it that way
I need Apple CarPlay in a 2013 Nissan Xterra. It does not have an auxiliary jack or USB. The only thing it has is a cigarette lighter. What would be the best device to get Apple CarPlay with an iPhone? And also need back up camera.
Oh good question. I didn’t try connecting multiple phones but I imagine it would take disabling the CarPlay toggle on my device for another to connect. You can disable without unpairing though.
They’re safe. CarPlay is a one-way street. Meaning your iPhone uses the device as a secondary display and that’s it. The Carpuride doesn’t access the internet at all
@@beardfm thank you very much. So car play is safe even if the app is Tlink or Zlink and if i want to be sure i can press no allow to bluetooth sycr? Thanks again
I have a 2013 Kia Soul. I was wondering what options are available now for car play. I looked on Amazon for this product but it seems now the cd 💿 attachment connector is now sold separately. I do see a bit of issue the controls for hazard lights would be blocked by the touch screen. On my Kia I have 3 buttons on top of dash Eco Mode, Hazard, and Passenger Side Air Bag. The only button I keep on is Eco Mode.
I’ve actually switched to a dash mounted suction and it’s working pretty well! I show it here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a2BBJ9suyHU.htmlsi=3rJwLfsRan6DMWsP
So you say any car? you said you had an older car? An older car to you maybe a younger car than what I’ve got now what are you talking about? My older car has a cassette tape player and a CD player but no way to connect anything to my existing radio. I have a 2004 Acura MDX will this thing work in a 19-year-old car?
You can use the built-in FM transmitter on Carpuride to play audio through your car speakers! Otherwise you just need to plug in the power adapter to a lighter plug and you're good to go!
I just bought one for my Honda Odyssey. The car doesn’t have aux. And I’ve been trying to make the audio play through my car speakers with the FM transmitter. But it’s not working!! What do I do??
Does the car have Bluetooth? You can still connect the phone for audio via Bluetooth to the car. And when you tried to program the FM transmitter, did you hear anything on the channel displayed on the Carpuride, or was it just static?
Hi! I have a 2011 Infiniti m56. It doesn’t have aux, only Bluetooth. If I connect my iphone to this wirelessly, then can I connect the device to my car’s Bluetooth to use the car’s speakers?
Has anyone managed to install a Carpuride system that allows steering wheel controls to still work? (Ideally wired) Would love to have a USB out to comment to the stereo as an audio device rather than AUX
Hello! What happen if my car dosnt have connecto for jack 3.5? I saw the speakers from the carpuride, the conection for FM and Bluetooth are not too good? i have another option to conect the audio with the car?
Ordered one, connected it to my car bluetooth, tried to change track, did not work. I emailed them and they told me: not possible use the controls on the screen:P, bluetooth with no bluetooth contorls, a bit strange. Waste of money for me
Question: Dis you mention that the Carpuride W901 makes a WiFi network to connect to the Iphone. (Because, I could not find that on the Carpuride website). At this moment my Iphone connects with bluetooth with my Car (Nissan, juke). Apple has a feature to remember in maps where your car is parked. It uses the bluetooth connection to do that. Does that feature stay? (Or: Connect with Carpuride via WiFi and with the car via bluetooth. And so: Keep the: find my car feature.). Does it play radio too? Via the internet? Of via DAB+?
If you could do all the things you could do with an android head this would be ok... but no chance of downloading playstore, your own choice of app or customising the screen makes these a no no
Not entirely sure, but this is the ball join itself with measurements on Carpuride's website: carpuride.com/collections/accessories-1/products/carpuride-cd-slot-mounting-bracket
STEPHEN! PLEASE HELP ME SO I CAN DECIDE TO BUY THIS OR NOT! Does the blue dot on Apple Maps skip lag and chop while you’re moving or is it smooth like on an iPhone screen?! Pls reply! 🙏🏼
It will skip a little if you're not in turn-by-turn directions and just looking at the map, but it's pretty smooth. Having turn-by-turn on it follows very closely
I have a 2001 Toyota Corolla, if you respond to this. Would it be possible if this works? I have two 10-15v lighter ports. One which is a cigarette lighter along with the other near the e brake. Curios what you think of this.
@@beardfm I have an Am FM radio, so worst case scenario, I can connect it by frequency. I have a nice BT-FM transmitter I just got for my birthday. It should get the job done for now. I plan on getting this item in a few months. It should work.
So who has ordered from the company’s website and how was the experience? Im thinking of getting 2 and feel more comfortable getting it from Amazon but it’s way cheaper on the company’s site with their anniversary sale right now.
Hi may I ask , I am going to buy 1 but is there something I should looking for before buy?? Is WIFI and carplay are the same ??? If the media player they just say wifi is it automatic connect wifi and Bluetooth to player everytime u start the car without the wire usb connection?? Thank you
It's wireless CarPlay, yes. It has Wifi which is how your iPhone will connect to the device for AirPlay, but everything will connect automatically every time you start the car after you pair it the first time!
For that, I would recommend the W103 model, which does exactly that: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-a2BBJ9suyHU.htmlsi=tOZN387Zhi32jBxB
does this work if your car doesn’t have an aux connection? my car literally only has CD, i’ve been using FM transmitter for 2 years now and it sounds rly bad
The FM transmitter is pretty good in the Carpuride, but if you haven’t had good experience with other transmitters I’m not confident it will be great for you. Maybe buy on Amazon In case you need to return it
I have the 2017 Ford Ranger, The model after that got Apple car play, I asked the Ford dealer if it would be possible to update the firmware and he said no i have to buy the latest model, I wonder if there is a workaround?
Have you tried to hook it up to an existing back up camera? I have a 2014 Honda Pilot and there's no way to do an aftermarket radio. This looks like a great option for me. I just need to figure out the best way to mount it and still be able to use my back up camera.
