In the beginning of our marraige we dealt with my husbands alcoholism. We were able to work thru it. But you are right...marraige takes work. The best thing...we are now retired and will be celebrating our 50th anniversary!!! The hard work is worth it. Im so happy for both of you. Joey I am so proud of you.

Im an alcoholic myself. The past few years, I have managed to wreck my marriage. My husband held on as strongly as he could. we live separately now because of my crazy outbursts. I have managed to humiliate someone I love dearly. I am ashamed of the example that I set for my 12 year old daughter. My husband and I see each other about twice a week. It's a sad situation that I've caused. Im working to repair myself and my relationships. I hope anyone who's dealing with an addiction or loves someone with an addiction never gives up hope and know that change is possible.

Joey and I both read it and are proud you acknowledge what alcoholism can cause not just for you because you’re not alone in making mistakes. I know it feels so hard right now but like you said change is possible and you can make amends 🩷

I also am in a relationship with a recovering addict and there’s been a few slip ups this year but what truly made a difference for us is finally finding a church and church family and working on our faith! I definitely recommend that and finding a church that feels like home! Lots of love, light and prayers for you guys ! ♥️

I don’t comment often but I’ve been riding with you all since the beginning. When you announced the separation, I said no way, if anybody can make it, you two will. I’m married almost 27 years and one things that we decided in the beginning is never to give up on each other. Don’t ever give up! I speak blessings over you two for a lifetime of forevers. So happy to hear you and Joey are back together. I have been watching you for 2-3 years and love you both. I am so happy Joey is going to AA. The steps saved my life. I also have a son who suffers from Substance Use Disorder, so I get what you feel about trying to "control" what happens. Alanon helped me tremendously. So I have lived experience with both sides. I am so glad that Joey realizes he needs to keep working the program even if he is complacent at times. That is when I know I need to work harder. Bless ya'll. I know you will both make it

I'm an avid watcher of your channel and man.... I must have missed it when you said you mentioned it in your previous vids. I was shocked when you mentioned why you temp split. I know it is a HARD thing to overcome. I was in a relationship when I was in the military w/ a guy that was a functional alcoholic. My friends/coworkers told me if I did not break it off w/ him they would take it to the command because he was such a dangerous drunk. (He drove around w/ his daughter in the car while he was tanked.) It was hard to leave because he was such a good guy sober. Anyways, glad you guys are working on it and are sooooo committed to each other and getting thru it together. I always think when I watch vlogs "do these people have ANY problems??!!!" lol of course they do but they pretend they dont! Glad you are not like that :)

I have faith and hope for y'all .. my husband was addicted to pills for about 10 yrs . Thank goodness he's 7 yrs clean. Jujitsu/MMA is his addiction now . Changed set his mind 💯. Now we eat cleanish and workout . It was a rough 10 years but I'm thankful I stayed to help him. ❤

Marriage is hard I have been married 20 years together 22 , I personally have mental health issue bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder, my hubby puts up with so much but he is always there for me no matter what and our kids (19 & 14) My husband lost his brother to alcoholism 3 years ago he was only 41 so I honestly understand what you both are going through. Stay strong and truthful to each other and you will find peace 😊

Amanda I would love to chat if you ever feel up to it. I have commented before to let you know my husband is a recovering alcoholic after he drank himself into pancreatitis. We are high school sweethearts and boy did we learn marriage is work just like you said. That is one of my most given advice to anyone getting married, it is not easy and you need to work on it everyday! If you are ever up to chat lmk 😊
