Who would of thought 78k people would even take a minute to hear my story. I pray that if my story can help someone anyone. 1 person, then it was worth everything I went through. The 2 motto’s I go by since being sober (I just celebrated 11 years this month) is 1. One is too many and a thousand is never enough. 2. NEVER FORGET were you came from. Great thing about the 12 steps is that you can apply the steps to anything in your life that you want to change. I don’t know you, but I don’t have to know you to tell you I am proud of you. Drugs and alcohol rob you of the ability to be there for others- it’s a life of true selfishness and a complete lack of desire to work thru your feelings. I appreciate your story. Thank you for your honesty.This makes me want to be better so I be there for my mom.
I agree, I used to drink and I would cry to my friends about how unavailable I was. It lies and robs you of a connection to other people which you need to be happy.
I've known Chris a long time. He has a heart of gold BUT his addictions have robbed him of a certain quality of life. I'm happy that he chose to keep fighting the good fight. Love playing music with him. Throughout the years you jam with different musicians and its good....but there's that person or people you play with that just magically works, Chris is that person. Keep going strong my friend.

I would like to thank you for your story. I am a person from Germany. Got in contact with drugs but on a low level. Your story is something that i can use to understand drugs and addiction. It is also something that helped me to put an early stop to it, rethink situations and make better decisions. Good luck for the future!

Wow …. What a stor. You were a stubborn little dude. I actually listened to this entire video in one sitdown. Never had anything close to this in my family until my son’s high school football days were cut short. It’s been 10 years now and he’s finally free of marijuana ……. I really don’t think I could have lasted with what happened to you. Your folks that helped were truly God sent.
Thank you so much Chris Hodges for telling your story it's helped me a lot with my issues and you taught me a lot of things that are actually connected with me personally. Finding ways to justify relapsing, trying to talk people into letting me be free and not surrender. You gave me a lot of things to consider in recovery so I thank you. Hopefully one day I can tell my story on the channel because I feel I have something people should hear

This is a very long video, but I couldn't turn it off, your story is gonna open up a lot of eyes and let them see that addiction is an illness, and it's an illness that needs to be treated, and you can get better, and some get well fast and some have s harder time, and you are an inspiration and you have a good heart. So true. No matter your current circumstances, the fact that you’re watching this means there’s still hope. I remember starting this series while going through terrible Fentanyl withdrawal in 2018.. Happy to be alive and healthy today.

But yeah, my Dad was my Herp, and My life made perfect sense to me..
I haven't heard of that and was shocked when he said it. Like who tf does that? But i guess some bars will. That's just so gross. I hate to hear that occurs anywhere. People can just be horrible.
James Wood I just can’t get past that, she really was sleeping with someone she’s supposed to be helping. And then helps them get out and get more drugs. Not only a terrible therapist but horrible person as well!
I bet he wasn’t the first patient she slept with. I find it very hard to believe as well. Especially at a rehab clinic, where people are at rock bottom.
quite easy to understand actually, the general consensus i see in older people is that money, definitely does not equate to happiness. Money can inflate an ego to the point where you think you are happy but it always ends up with you coming to the realisation that, one day it will be you laying on that hospital bed with your last breath coming up.
How many times... ALCOHOL is a DRUG !!! When will people, especially "the pro's," will get this and stop to make a difference between them ? EDIT: Methadone is a psychoactive substance and 195 mil is not that extraordinary my friend. More importantly: it's not a contest, and I'm sorry, never heard of you or your name before watching this vid...
God works in mysterious ways. Sounds like you have discovered your purpose in life. The road was long and difficult for you, but you wouldn't understand addiction or the desperation and hopelessness of an addict had you not experienced addiction yourself. I believe if you remain focused on your path and not your past, you will continue to great work with those still caught in the grips of addiction. And your mom doesn't have to be physically present to see her son whole again, she is with you everyday as you continue your journey. Love never dies. God bless you, I am so proud of you.
My God...what a story! What you have been through! My son my only only child as we speak is in Hospice Care and suffering from stage four liver failure. He is not going to make it. He’s 37 years old suffering also from Crohn’s Disease. Addiction is a terrible thing. You have suffered for a long time. All my love and support to you dear!

I totally agree with the chemicals imbalance since young age, translated is that if you suffer from it you can have anything in the world and still been miserable within yourself but from the people around you look fine.
I remember clearly at 5 years old, just taking like 10 puffs of my asthma inhaler in a row cause I liked the feeling. I believe addicts are born addicts
I was really struggling today and was pretty hopeless emotionally and stumbled on Chris’s story. My story is very similar and this really touched me deeply!!! I needed to hear this today and has made me want recovery for myself even more!! Thank you for being brave enough to share this with the world I know that is not easy but you really helped me today!! Statute of limitations... If you finished the story, his mom's dead but either way they can't arrest someone for neglect or whatever 25 years later. The only crime that has no statute of limitations is murder.
My mother passed away... Why would you want my parents in prison ? Addiction runs many generations deep in most families.. .. Every family has secrets.. As long as you keep them in the dark, it makes you sick.. What is your family secrets ?
