I purchased a new TV 3 days ago & the Firestick I received as a X-mas gift. Today I had off work & now within minutes my TV is hooked up with working Firestick app. Thank you so much for making it easy for us "dinosaurs".
Hi Kristina. You're welcome. You are not a Dino, trust me. I just happen to have been paying very close attention to the streaming world since it sprung up out of nowhere about 12 years ago. I made the video because my good friend Richard said his father had the same question. If you have any other questions let us know. For all you know it could help thousands of people.
Thanks a Million!! I was just getting ready to ship my Roku Tv 58" JVC back to Walmart because I couldn't get a browser app in Roku and you saved the day. I didn't know Roku lacked a browser app when I ordered the tv but I had a FireStick dongle on another tv so the problem solved. Thanks again so much because I got a great deal on the tv and like it a lot but was just about ready to box it back up when I found your video. Sub added!
Oh wow. In general i think its always important to have 2 platforms like Aoku and Android tv or something that. At my house i have an Android tv set with a roku soundbar.
Great little video. I'll add a tip that took me a while to track down: If you are setting up the FireTV remote to control the TV volume & power you will likely need to Select "roku" as the TV type, not TCL or Hisense.
I'm looking for a way to control my Roku TV and fire TV with one remote? Any suggestions? (My set up is the same as yours, my fireTV is just the newer version)
Hmm. I bet you have to reset your Fire TV or go into the remote settings I don't remember which menu it's under at the moment but there's a place where you can go to your remote and like format it to a TV or something like that I just don't remember exactly what it's called. But that would probably still only control Power and volume not the entire menu of the Roku powered TV
I have the hdmi port set up, but my amazon remote is no longer working to turn on my Roku tv. I don't have a pairing button on the remote. I can use the Roku remote to select the hdmi port, then my amazon firestick remote will operate, but it won't enlarge it to full screen so I can read what it says.
Just bought a tv Sharp roku tv, Thanks Ryan for your advice it was very helpfull, now have this problem, can't find the way to control the volume, up and down, I went to settings and just found HI volume or nocturn volume or medium volume etc... The remote has not the up and down signals 🤦🤷
It does not seem to work with that remote. I can only get the other buttons found on the original Firestick remote but volume and on/off are not working.
Why is my firestick keep cutting off on my Roku TV only. It work fine on the other TVs but the Roku TV it's not working so well. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is .do you have any information how to fix it
I hooked mine up with an HDMI cable and am getting no signal. I have a fire TV cube. The fire tv flickers on the screen. It's like it's fighting with Roku. There's got to be something missing in my steps.
Do you know what’s funny about this video is I would not have thought about it if a friend had an asked me how to do the exact thing I did. If you ever have any particular questions ask and maybe I can do a video on it
i would have figured it out first try but thanks for this video to still be seen ..lol.. im getting a TCL tv and i hope it stays with me for a while .. lol ive had my Sony Bravia since 2008 .. time for it to be moved to the room lol
I came looking to see if, just maybe, you'd figured out how to pair the FireTV 4K remote with a Roku TV, as it features a volume control and TV power button. I had no trouble doing so with my Vizio plasma set, but, I recently had to replace that with the aforementioned RCA Roku TV. Of course, I'm not surprised that it may not be supported.
@@Pythonette So does Firestick. My brother bought me this smart TV and I only use Firestick . It's a cheap TV, but I don't care it was a gift. It's a HiSense...that's what's not allowing me to use the volume, etc.
I’m confused. I have a 4K firestick. It’s hard to get in but I managed to get in hdmi port 3 but home screen keeps coming up as home unavailable. My firestick remote won’t allow me to set up a connection it doesn’t work at all batteries are new. Am I needing these extra devices you have plugged in the back of your tv to get the firestick and remote to work, if so what are they called. I quite understand in video. Thanks
No, unless you mean to ask if you can program the fire TV remote to also control the volume on a Roku TV. In that case you can do so, but the TV will not control an Amazon device. I hope that answers your question.
I already have 4 Firesticks and 2 I am not using but I never considered using them with my 2 Roku TV's. Could you give me an example of things you would use this for or why someone would want to do this ? I am not a big user of the Firesticks because I bought them before I realized I could buy a television that had the Roku operating system built into them.
Sure. 1. First off, while almost all the big major services can be found on both systems each has apps that are not on the other one. 2. Fire TV has browsers designed to work with the TV that really work well. 3. Fire TV devices are easy to load with apps not available in the official amazon App Store. The most glaring example of that at the moment is that you can load the HBO Now app on the Fire TV .
My TV is an ONN and I have followed all steps but it is saying, Pair Your Remote. I have lost the remote so I’ve alway used the firestick app. What should I do? Thanks!
Not being there I have to ask a question or two and make a few educated guesses. Is this a new Firestick? If it is then you have to use your remote for set up because the app requires the Firestick to be on the same network as your phone. Even if it is not a new Firestick maybe it has been reset. Are you setting this Firestick up somewhere other than where you have used it previously? Are you setting it up on a TV somewhere other than your home. If you are, and do not have the remote there is not anything to be done about that. I made that mistake years ago when I was a younger streaming advisor :).
Hello - Trying to get Firestick to change Hisense Roku TV input to coax/antenna via voice command (Cable box does not have HDMI out). Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hey Ryan, I have a QLED Samsung TV with a Roku Ultra for streaming. I’ve been trying to add a brand-new Amazon Fire Tv Stick 4 K alongside a Roku Ultra on a 65 QLED Samsung with 3 HDMI ports. Unfortunately, I don’t have a TV input on the Roku Ultra as you showed in your video. Therefore, I’d like to know if there is a possibility to add an Amazon Fire TV Stick along with the Roku on the same Samsung tv? Please let me know what do you think?
The video actually demonstrates a Roku powered TV. So its inputs are like any other including your Samsung. You just have to add it to the Samsung the old fashioned way, you can't access the Fire TV Stick via the Roku. That's why I have really fallen for Roku TV's.
No, you're not dumb. There are a lot of controllers that will read Fire TV and work with it. My Hisense Android TV can control the Fire TV, My Apple TV and Blueray player without any special set up simply because they are plugged in to the TV.
I’ve done everything the video says twice, and each time I go to the fire stick home screen, neither of the remotes work. The only thing I can do is go the home screen of the roku with the roku remote. Any ideas?
Honestly it just sounds like your fire TV remote is broken, out of sync or needs new batteries. Does it work when its plugged into anything else? I had a remote die on me and called Amazon and they sent me a new one. In the meantime I would use a smart phone controller app.
The Streaming Advisor I only got the fire stick a few weeks ago and I haven’t used it much, when I get the chance I can try different batteries or another tv. Otherwise I’ll contact amazon. Thank you for the ideas!
I don't know what you mean by it flashes a yellow light. But the fact that your fire stick is not 4k will have no impact on the ability for you to hook it to the TV.
So...my Amazon Firestick is the newer one, is the process the same? I can't seem to attach the pic I took. Can I email the pick. Basically, it's the newer Firestick that's 4k or some thing. It has a remote the stick is long with an adapter-like end
I have 2 different types of tv roku and firestick 4k TV right but I also have Amazon firestick ok ! But I lost Amazon firestick remote ok are u still following me still ok I wanted to kno if possible can i have my firestick 4k remote work on my regular firestick or can my roku remote because it a smart remote work on firestick remote ? And if so can u make a video pls and thank you !
You should be able to use the newer remote with the fire stick unless one is IR and the other uses Blue Tooth. No the Roku remote will not work. But what I would do is use a phone app to go into the settings and controllers menu and add the remote you want to use.
The problem I am having is getting the volume, mute and power button to work with my firestick... I can use the other functions, just not all and it sucks having to use two remotes
I did everything exactly how you explained it. It say no signal but when I go remove it it says it can't cause that idmi port is in use. Any help would be appreciated
That was happening to mine. I had to select HDMI 1 and then when I clicked on it and it said no signal, I had to keep it on that screen, unplug my firestick and plug it back in and then the tv picked up the signal. Weird but it worked.
Well as a rep from Roku told me at CES., you can do that. But what will happen is that you will confuse someone else at your house royally :). I have one in a Roku TV in my office, but that is because otherwise the remote takes over another tv on my desk. (First world problems)
I have a roku tv. the fire stick is plugged in, but not connected to the network bc my wifi changed..therefore I can't use the firestick tv app. I'm running out of options :(
@@thestreamingadvisor i had the fire tv remote app & was able to use it to on my tv. my wifi password changed. so since I wasn't able to updated the network settings on the actually firestick, the fire remote app is not connecting anymore to my fire tv. if that makes sense
My stick is connected an i followed your instructions. Now the HDMI is saying "no signal" (is it on) ??? Its plugged in as it should be im puzzled !!!!..any suggestions
@@thestreamingadvisor i got my stick working finally. I had to remove the ports and then re set them wit stick plugged into it..to recognize it n i guess it got signal from there been using ever since doing that...
Yeah you can add any other TV box with the same steps when my friend asked me how to do it get specifically asked about Fire TV and I knew there were probably be thousands of people out there asking exactly the same question that would not say how do you hook up something different to a Roku TV.
Mine it just show up the "What's New" screen, and I cant get to the home screen, even if i hit continue it will take me to no where !! Anyone has this issue
