I love how this guy always mentions the basics in every video. This is probably the 5th video where I see him going back to explaining how to form diatonic chords. I really appreciate teachers who don't just assume you already know something, but rather repeat it in case somebody still doesn't know it.
@@MusicMattersGB I also love it when someone still checks the comments on their old videos 😄Since you're obviously going to read this, I want to thank you for these lessons. I'm actually a guitarist, but I realized that if want to get a better understanding of music, I best start learning to play it on the keyboard. And it already proved to be true. 3 months of playing keyboard taught me more than 20 years of guitar. 😅
Crazy good, I just bought sheet music that had no chords and your video was the first I came upon. My search is over! Shows how much knowledge can be passed on in a short amount of time when it is properly done. From one teacher of chemistry to an excellent teacher of music, thank you.

Oh my god, I've been searching for a short, easy-to-understand chord tutorial for like my whole life LOL, since i'm not good at musical theory, and this video is just, everything. Thank you!
This is perfect and exactly what I was questioning as to how someone comes up with cords from a melody. Thank you so much for sharing these tips and breaking it down in an easy-to-understand manner.
This is genuinely one of the most wonderful videos on this platform. Such a joy to watch, with lots and lots of information expertly delivered. Thanks so much.
This is a truly magnificent method of teaching novices such as myself about melody to chords, or any subject for that matter. I've always said; if the teacher knows how to express their knowledge then the student/pupil usually gets it. That's just it, your method of expressing your know how is faultless. Not all teachers have this ability. Many thanks to you
I agree but I'm still not sure what he did at the end part when he played it the last time. It sounded like a completely different melody pretty much. I thought it was broken chords but then he was playing the chords on the right side of the piano and the melody was on the left and was different to what was before so I'm just not sure about that bit. What was that? The part where he mentions getting comfortable with it and it can sound good.
Hi LFiers , not sure what you meant; 'It sounded like a completely different melody pretty almost' It sounded good to me. Apologies if I did not understand the comment. All the best.

For such a simple lesson, copy and pasting the easiest harmonies, the twist he did at the end was so satisfying! When he used the melody as a bass line and used his right hand for walking chord progression I was like 😫
easy to understand and to put into practice right away. i am playing a french song and no one has uploaded chords that i like *(easy chords)so I' ll go experiment with this. thank you.!!!

I've been searching for an easy-to-learn-music-lessons, but the videos I found are mostly boring talks. Then, I found this channel. So, I immediately subscribed. The best channel for music lessons so far. The videos are simple and concise yet very helpful and effective.
I am amazed at how few notes that I underestimated at the beginning of the video (XD) turn into something beautiful with chords, and even more pleasing with the arpeggio

Wow, this actually helped me a lot! I've been overthinking this way too much and most of the explanations didn't help. But this this simple explanation with a very easy example 'showed me the way'. Thank you!
We have a number of videos that involve harmonisation. Take a look at those for ideas then live with the sound of the chords. All the best. Gareth and Alex.
