I shot this video mid-summer, my Gilson tiller was leaking a bit of oil from the gear box. Given there might not be a lot of oil in the gear box to start with, I think its time to figure out how to add some more.
I have an old 80's Glison tiller just like yours. I changed the belt to the size it was recommended When I use the tension pully it tightens the belt. My issue is when my blades touch the ground they stop. When you lift the tiller the blades spin. It doesn't look like the belt slips on the pulleys or squeals. Just wondering if you have any ideas why the blades stop whenever you put a little pressure on the blades when you start to cultivate.
Well, if the belts are spinning the pulleys and the blades stop spinning, that means something mechanical is wrong. Start with finding the sheer pins. They hold the blades to the spinning shaft that comes out each side of the center. You can even check it if you run the belt, stop the blades, but look on the end and see if the main shaft is still spinning, that’s your problem. If they aren’t spinning something inside is likely broke, and that’s a different adventure.
@@Turbo231 I have 1 I traded for a few years back. I never worked on one like that . Im not the handyman/mechanic anyway. They are very similar to the Montgomery Ward and some of those gear drive Gilson I dont think I got the names mixed up anyway..
