Hi and many thanks for the video - I have a stack of seven 2000's to which I need to add a 5000. I understand that the 5000 has to become the new master - the question is, how is the new stack balanced when there is a mixture? I was told that I had to first fully charge my stack of seven 2000's and then separately charge my 5000 before adding the 5000 to the stack. This sounds awfully laborious and long winded so is there a neater, simpler way please?
@pylontechsolarbatterystora3979
@pylontechsolarbatterystora3979 11 месяцев назад
No all you need to do is connect the us5000 set it as a master. Turn the battery’s on, sync them . Then let them balance naturally. Don’t turn your inverter on at this stage. After a couple of hours the bms in the master battery will store the charge state of the other batteries. At this stage turn on the inverter and use as normally. Eventually when there is no sun or extra charge the batteries will reach there minimum SOC and then they will be balanced . No need to charge them up individually, so backwards!

Excellent video, it really helped a lot, just one quick question, is the positive from the inverter always connected to the master battery...I have four batteries which all seem to be fine but the black negative is connected to the master.
@pylontechsolarbatterystora3979
It can either be to the master or to the last battery in the stack. As long as positive is at one end and negative is at the other end to achieve a parallel connection. Polarity does not matter. So the master could have the negative or positive . Thanks for watching video , I am glad the videos are helping people and thanks for subscribing.

You would still need a charge controller. But in principle yes they can be charged from a generator

Hi yes you can mix them. The BMS of the master battery which you’ll need to set to one of the new us5000 batteries. So the master battery must be a us5000 in this setup.

Very good explained! At any point in time your system is designed such, that all these batteries are discharged with a constant rate not exceeding 100 A, right?
@pylontechsolarbatterystora3979
@pylontechsolarbatterystora3979 2 года назад
The inverter and internal BMS manage the charging/discharging so batteries all charge and discharge at the same rate. So the more batteries you have the more FREE solar energy from the sun you can store. Especially in these hard times and cost of living crisis with electric bills to exceed £6000 per year , so if you invest in solar battery storage you will get your investment back in 1 year and the batteries have a lifespan of 10 years. So well worth it.

Thanks for the video. One question if I can? Do you need to let the inverter know you now have more capacity? I seem to remember this was set at the time with my original set up a few years ago. I’m about to add 2 new batteries to my stack.
@pylontechsolarbatterystora3979
@pylontechsolarbatterystora3979 2 года назад
No the inverter should detect more new batteries in the stack automatically. It will tell you in aH what the capacity is. For example , if you have 2 x pylontech us3000c at 75aH each , then add another us3000c then you have a new total of (3 x 75) , 225 aH capacity which the inverter should report. Sometimes it says 222 aH but don’t worry about that it’s never exact.

Great system, however consider that the link cables between batteries and especially important, the long Pylontech Inverter cables must not exceed a constant 100A, due to both connector and cable ratings. They can briefly go up to 125A for a short time. I am not an electrician, but have read quite a lot about high current DC storage designs. Now my concern, (not sure if I could see this correctly) you appear to have a large system connected in parallel with only a single cable providing battery power to inverter. That means you can only draw 100A / 7(number of batteries) = 18.29A per battery before you exceed the cable rating. That is just 978W per battery. Your system potentially exceeds that easily the way it is connected, unless you have fuses protecting that cable with a 100-125A fuse, and a limit on the inverter/charger. To solve this, either use a small inverter maximum 100A, or a better solution, buy extra Pylontech long cables and wire in parallel to a high current bus bars for both live and neutral, then come off that with a higher rated cable towards fused inverter cables. Theoretically then you can go right up to the full massive rating that these batteries can supply. To enhance, try to ensure the batteries are fused before they reach the busbar also. That can be achieved with modified Victron Lynx Power In modules that are rated up to 1000A. RU-vid has some good videos how to add fuses. Please check your inverter and batteries aren't exceeding all those cables.
@pylontechsolarbatterystora3979
Hi Rich. The inverter cables are 2m , 100amp so all good. No problems at all. Been working well. Thanks for subscribing. Keep watching the videos
@rogereverett9095
@rogereverett9095 Год назад
agreed, I run a 6 us5000 with victron bus bars but before then could often see 118amps on those long cables. The other alternative is another set of long cables run parallel to the other connections on Pylontech, as per pylontech manual.
@muso31
@muso31 Год назад
Correct on these comments. The cables used are under spec in this setup. What I don't understand in the pylontech manual, is do you have to use multi group mode (A positive cable to the bus bar per battery) if you have more than one battery? Or is there another way using just one positive and negative cable?
@richlee5516
@richlee5516 Год назад
@@muso31 No it is not a multi group mode. I believe that is when you have multiple groups, where each group has several batteries. I have 6 x US5000 and there is one inverter RS485 communication cable to battery 1 then they daisy chain linked through each battery. This has worked just fine. Each battery has it's own Pylontech long cable to NH fuse (100A but you can reduce to 80A) before ending up at a large chunky bus bar.

@richlee5516 this is great thanks. I assume the 100a fuse is on the positive lead only?

I currently have a single stack of seven 2000's which the installer set up. In studying the PylonTech installation manual, it says not to stack them directly one upon another and even when using their super-expensive brackets, it says a maximum of four! Have you ever heard if or experienced. any problem with stacking?
@pylontechsolarbatterystora3979
@pylontechsolarbatterystora3979 11 месяцев назад
Stacking upto 4 on top of each other is fine. Even when using brackets the benefits are negligible. In a us2000c manual , it says 4 can be stacked on top of each other. But if you are uncomfortable then you can vertically stack them making sure they are secured at the top and bottom.

@@pylontechsolarbatterystora3979 When connecting the new battery, the batteries will certainly balance - but only the voltage will balance. The SOC, which is the data that is fed to the inverter/charger will be the average SOC of the pack. The SOC is calculated value based on the voltage drop given a certain charge delivery. As such the individual batteries can be quite different when it comes to SOC levels. It's probably best to check the capacity and SOC levels on each battery. This can be done with Pylontech's BatteryView sofware (PC based) or MultiSIBControl's graphical software which is pretty good. All you have to do is make a cable connecting the Console port on the battery to the PC and run the software. If interested I will send a link to the simple youtube video showing how I did this task.
