In this episode I installed Kevlar Skid plates on to my 14 year old Clipper Solitude canoe. Going into this I had absolutely know Idea what I was doing, but I think it turned out alright. It's definitely not perfect, and some perfectionist will hate it, but it's good enough for me. I needed to install these skid plates because I had slight damage to the front and rear already, and I also needed to do a little bit of fiberglass repairs while I was at it. These skid plates are made from a Kevlar felt material, and should provide great impact resistance moving forward. I probably should have done this sooner. I'm pretty sure these skid plates came from Western Canoe And Kayak In Abbotsford(westerncanoeka...), but I've seen similar products online that I assume all work the same. I also used west system epoxy from Amazon www.amazon.ca/...
I finished everything off with some white semi gloss Tremclad paint. The little can didn't quite cover the whole bottom, but it was very close, and I had the extra spray can.
I also added an Insta360 camera mount while I was at it.
Overall I am happy with how everything turned out, and I'm hoping for 14 more good years out of it!
