Adding Massive Platforms to my LEGO City!

Today I start adding massive elevated platforms in my LEGO city! They span 35 baseplates throughout the center and branching off toward the countryside. These platforms are going to support massive mountains, a ski slope, winter village, and much more. No I can truly start to visualize what this city is going to look like!

You need to bring back the Observatory, and place it near the highest point. Observatories are always placed on mountain tops to reduce the amount of atmosphere between the telescope and the sky. I think it might be interesting to be amongst the winter village and a ski slope.

For the winter area: What about creating a ski hill that leads into a winter village? Could have lots of fun stories and features on the mountain (jumps, rails, moguls, yeti, gondola, etc)

Jordan, the city and countryside is looking amazing. Can’t wait to see how you create mountains and all of the details. One thing that you had mentioned in this video was snow White cabin you consider adding a small mine entrance in the mountains near snow White and the dwarf cabin. Yes it would definitely break up the mountain side. Its a small detail maybe a mine car with coaster track, the mine coming out of it and mine access tunnel. And lastly, congratulations being in time magazine such a wonderful article they did about you and the other AFOL’s.
@Oz-Rein
@Oz-Rein 5 часов назад
This is a cool idea. You could even have a portion of the mine visible in one side of one of the access holes. It may not be a priority at the moment but there's so much room for fun details like this throughout the city since you have so much elevation now. Interiors of caves or mines or subterranean areas visible under the raised platforms either in the access holes or at the back edge under the winter village.

Two things, throw the observatory up on one of the tallest mountains, in real life we put them at high elevation to reduce the affects the atmosphere has on images. Second I think the winter village should be in a valley surrounded by ski slopes, a single road in with slopes surrounding the village

Just a thought on the winter village. You could have the fantasy/North Pole themed sets up high in the mountain and have the reality based theme lower or at the base of the mountain. Looking great! Can't wait to watch the progress!

I look forward to the landscape looking less boxy. Also something I noticed when you were showing off the landscapes in Billund was that they were still like the sets, very tight together so they packed in a lot of detail in small spaces. The tendency is for MOCs to take up a lot more space than they need to. Think small, I think that's a good thing to keep in mind when building anything.

What if the winter village was moved inward a baseplate so there would be more elevation with a peak behind the village? Could allow for a 7412 Yeti hideout Easter egg ;)

Jordan, here is an idea. What if you add to the nice setup you built and make several 2x2 base-plate wide tables with all of your small remaining stock. Make 4 different heights and four of each height. So you then have these 16 building blocks basically that you can move around and make a more natural edge and pile up high if needed. It would be an simple system to move around for a more organic shape and easy to make more if you need them. Looking so sweet by the way and thank you for the great content.

when you MILS plated the Amusement Park you ask what to do in the area between Residential Area and Amusement Park. You could build a little raised area, maybe up to 10-15 bricks, which climbs towards and over the railways. On Top you could place the Monster Fighters House. A road/Trail could go through a Tunnel towards Amusement Park, or even arould the raised area. Btw, any news to your VAT from DK ?

Hey just a few suggestions for the mountain if you want, firstly I think the winter village would be better suited half way up the mountain rather than on top, I don’t know wether u have the space or budget to make the mountain bigger and put the observatory on top and/or an old mythical ruin. It could also be cool rather than trying to build a path up the mountain, create a long cable cart, just a few suggestions but loving the experience of being able to watch the city come together
@joemother1098

if you do a cross section edge with winter village platform that gives you the excuse to load up on old power miners sets and build an underground mine scene under the platform into the side of the mountain like the Lego house city did

Looking good with elevation, The village would better if it followed the mountain as it gets higher and not totally flat. Also consider leaving the outside of the mountain open in places, think of it as a knife cutting though the mountain to create a flat side, think of the stories you could tell going on under ground.

Hey bricksie/ any other helpful Lego fans!! I know it’s slightly early but I was wondering if you could give me some advice, I’m building a small (ish) ski hill this year it’s going to be about as big as Santas mountain I would say and I’m just slightly unsure about your top tips on creating this thing? I’m not going to have a chairlift or anything as complex but I will have alpine lodge at the top. Basically I’m just wondering what techniques/pieces you would use for blending (the base is ikea boxes) I’m not rich so there will be piece constraints however I want to place a parts order and I’m not use which work best for blending!

Since you have so much space underneath the platforms you should think of ways to use it like you did previously with the dungeon and train station. You could make some epic cave systems, middle earth, etc. We may not see them once it’s completed but would be great story telling. And probably quadruple the parts 😅

Oh man it looks much better with the green etc, i can just picture the mountains and trees etc, a winding mountain road, cabins or mountain village like in Jasper/Banff National Park. Makes me wish I would win the lottery and allocate a million of it to just lego😂 so I could do my city idea, i want a mountain/country side, and a coast line that is more of a Canadain west or east coast look. Beaches that's not tropical, with some cottages, a warf for boats. A farm with feilds, a winding river down to the ocean. Town, be a modern western type of city not European style architecture. I then want a small airport for my lego city airport sets Oh the ideas.... 😮‍💨 but I live out my dreams through your videos, and do my own small builds once in a while, just can't keep them built if I want to build something else. Only thing is Id also need lots of room..
