You are the most inspirational teacher Jack. Such a talent. The way you impart learning and knowledge makes things so so easy and I love your feel for music and the way you put it into words (which isn't easy). I am grinning from ear to ear watching this. You are an amazing human being

Thanks Jack. You never fail to impart joy, passion and knowledge - the "have fun with it" mentality is so important. Love the description of burdensome "laden notes". I've said it before, but your teaching skilz are superb, personable and fun. This extra content is the stuff that sets Andertons above any other online retailer - i dont see anyone delivering nuggets like this. Thanks so much! 🤟

I love this video! I’ve been memorizing all my key signatures by going *through* the circle of fifths instead of around it (so, C-D-E-F-G) playing all the chords in each key, and mixing up the major scales with their relative minor scales. Pentatonic it is!!

Thanks Christian. You’re right! Just helps me to think of things differently sometimes to spark new ideas and switching my thinking from major to minor in my head makes a bigger impact intellectually for me and hopefully for other people too 🤞

Incredible teacher!! Thanks for a great idea!! And the slides are just something else! I love that it worked across all chords that would come up! Would the relative minor always work with all the chords that come up? Thanks!

I am not a theory monster, but isn't it that the Cmaj pentatonic are the exact same key as the Am pentatonic? I guess, it would become the Am pentatonic if you would shift the tonal center around A (so regarding the E as the 5, the D as 4 etc). I think this concept is called modal improvisation!? But in the examples you start and end on the C, so it is more like a Cmaj pentatonic, I guess? Does that make any sense?

You’re right! Just helps me to think of things differently sometimes to spark new ideas and switching my thinking from major to minor instead of just C Major to C Major Pentatonic in my head makes a bigger impact intellectually for me and hopefully for other people too 🤞

@jackduxbury1632 I totally see what you mean. Shifting the tonal centre makes it even stronger. There are also all sorts of other crazy pentatonic scales/modes. My favourite is the phrygian pentatonic. On white keys, it is E phrygian with the keys E, F, G, B, C. Try it. I find it has a really "off" sound to it, even though all notes are from the Cmaj scale.

Am pentatonic is just Cmaj pentatonic too though right?

Mike Patrick demoing the white Montage using the pedal to bring in strings blew me away. His playing is phenomenal - i like his style much more than the show off style of flashy speed we often hear.
@K-DOTOFFICIAL
@K-DOTOFFICIAL 10 месяцев назад
@@pappysheart6710 100% true he plays with such intension, not just flashy chords/scales. tbh hearing what he plays, he doesn’t sound very complicated but with his rhythm and everything else it’s just perfect

For some reason any time I play anything in major that's not minor in another key, it sounds like bubblegum ass and I hate it. It's really a struggle. I swear I'm allergic to all the jolly modes and scales. I guess it's harmonic minor for me forever.

I’m confused why you’re calling this A minor pentatonic. You’re playing C major pentatonic. Sure they’re the same notes but different key centres. Am I missing something?
@jackduxbury1632
@jackduxbury1632 10 месяцев назад
You’re absolutely right 👍 It’s more a thought exercise for me and I thought for others might benefit in “thinking” differently to trigger different melodic ideas.
